Chapter 5:

News of what Audrey did to Myles spread around the school like wildfire, and by the time Friday came around, there were over fifteen different versions: one where Audrey actually secretly had magic and challenged Myles to a wizard duel to Myles being on Death's door and in a coma.

Suffice it to say, Fairy Godmother had a difficult time quelling such rumors and Ben wasn't having any better luck when Audrey's family found out.

Her grandmother, Queen Leah Rose, was actually going on about how Audrey had a lapse in judgement and 'the wizard boy must have provoked her too far', and when she found Ben being stubborn about not taking Audrey back, it turned into shouting and threatening. In the end, it took seven guards to escort the elderly woman out of Auradon Prep.

Audrey, however, did seem to hold some remorse about her actions. Though one look from Fairy Godmother, Myles' mother, the princess knew she wasn't going to get off easy. She was going to face expulsion but she found mercy in the most unexpected source: Myles himself who suggested suspension as an alternative.

His face was scarred slightly on half his face and his nose, but it was quickly repairing itself and fading away. A gruesome reminder to Audrey of what she had done.

Reluctantly, Fairy Godmother conceded in her son's wish and Audrey was suspended from Auradon Prep for the remainder of the current year.

"I hope you know what you're doing, suggesting this" his mother said when Audrey left the campus as Myles smiled "I do … honestly I should be thanking her, that hit on the head jump started ability to see visions of the future that dad had" he said as Fairy Godmother frowned at him, but it was more of a worrying one.

"I just wish you'd be more careful" she said as Myles just smiled at his mom "yeah well, where's the fun in that?" "I mean it, Myles" his mother said sternly before gingerly touching the scarred up injury "you could have died, and if i had lost either of my children …" she said trailing off as Myles just hugged her before quickly letting go.

"You won't … and Audrey is part of the solution, I've seen it" he said as FG frowned at him, this time it was disapproval. "I never said I enjoy the fact" he said as the frown turned to an amused smirk. "Fine … but no one else will get hurt, right?" She asked as Myles hesitated.

The visions he had since he woke up in the nurse's office were quick and hard to decipher when or how they would happen. But one thing was certain: Ben and Mal had to get together. He wasn't sure how but he knew it was meant to be.

"No, physically anyway" Myles said, walking with FG back into the school and heard an interesting conversation between Lonnie, daughter of Mulan, and Jordan, daughter of The Genie. "So never?" Jordan said nodding sadly "I thought even villains had love for their kids, but they told me they never baked with them or anything. I feel bad for them" Lonnie said as Myles looked at FG, who got the message and hid out of sight as Myles approached the two

"Hey Lonnie, Jordan" Myles said as the two looked at him and smiled "hey Myles, ooh, that scar looks bad" Lonnie said but Myles just shrugged "it'll go away on its own" he said as Jordan offered for him to use her lamp and wish it away but, though glad the offer was made, he declined. "Hey um … I couldn't help but hear but did you say something about baking?" He asked and Lonnie winced.

"Promise you won't tell FG?" Lonnie asked. After promising he wouldn't, Lonnie told him how she found the VKs in the kitchen making cookies after curfew last night. Though it seemed odd, Myles couldn't help but ask "did they seem weird to you? Or do anything unexpected?" He asked as Lonnie shook her head but then thought of something. "Uh … yeah, i started crying after realizing their parents never did the stuff ours do, that they probably don't even really love their kids and Mal wiped one of my tears off"

A fresh tear. They weren't making cookies, they were making a potion. But what?

"Thanks Lonnie, and hey … nice hair" she said as the girl smiled and went off with Jordan still gossiping.

"I take it you heard that?" Myles said not turning around as FG stood behind him and nodded "there's only a handful of things a tear can be used in potion making. Not sure what … but Myles if they're up to something-" "then, unfortunately, that's what must happen … though i think i know what it is, i better talk with Ben" he said before running off but then nearly ran into Megan.

*one hour earlier*

"I can't believe you plan to give Ben a love potion!" Megan whispered to Mal who looked unashamed in their room "it's the only sure way to get the wand. Only other person allowed on the front row is his girlfriend and that seat is non vacant" she said before handing Megan a baggy with a cookie in it. "Don't forget this"

It was decided last night that Myles would obviously tell Ben was spelled, so he needed to be properly distracted. And Megan drew the short straw between her and Evie. "I don't like this. After what happened to him earlier this week, now we're gonna spell him?!" She said as Evie, who was busy doing Chad Charming's homework, stopped and sighed "Meg look … after how you said he acted about getting a girlfriend himself … maybe love is what he needs" she said, but Megan frowned deeper at that.

"But it won't be real" she said as both Mal and Evie looked at her with smirks "you sound really disappointed" Evie said teasingly as Megan rolled her eyes and looked at Chad's homework with a scoff "seriously, Evie … Chad's not worth the trouble you're going through" she said as Evie frowned "don't change the subject" the blue-haired princess said as Megan stood up.

"Evie … look i know you're all mushy about love and all that but … Myles … he deserves someone better, you know that! And after our parents take over Auradon you think that they-" Megan said before looking away. She did have feelings for Myles, and deep down she wanted to just forget Maleficent's plan and be with him. But she knew she wouldn't get off like that. "I can't … I can't lead him on like that" she said before sitting down miserably. "I was never even interested in anyone on the Isle … I don't … I don't know how to do this"

Evie frowned before looking at Mal who looked slightly nervous herself. The only guy she ever did like was Harry Hook but that ended horribly. "Ok … you guys need a major lesson in talking to boys" she said as both Mal and Evie rolled their eyes.

"Talking is easy, E" Mal said as Megan nodded miserably "flirting is just the problem" she said but Evie just scoffed "you two are hopeless … just be yourself … like Megan said, i doubt you need the cookie" she said, but Mal looked determined and looked to Megan "this is too important to not get right" she said then brought the baggy back up to Megan "we can take no chances"

Reluctantly, Megan took the cookie and got back up. "Fine" she said as Mal smirked "remember, he has to eat the whole thing … might take some time to take effect. After you take care of him, I'll give Ben his" she said as Megan still looked miserable. Looks like what Myles said on the grounds would come true.

"Megan" Myles said as the girl smiled at him.

"Hey, I was looking for you, are you doing okay?" She asked, making Myles' gaze soften slightly. "Yeah … it doesn't hurt anymore. FG and I just escorted Audrey off the premises, she got off easy. Suspension." He said which made Megan's jaw drop.

"After what she did to you?! Who was the jerk who talked FG into suspension?!" She asked as Myles sarcastically raised a hand.

"What? Why?! Did she bully you again cause i swear-" "Megan … it's ok" Myles said, interrupting her. "Audrey regretted what she did. And since I was the one she assaulted, I had some leeway … so i forgave her" he said as Megan sighed and rubbed her eyes.

"you know this is gonna bite you in the butt later, right?" She said as Myles smirked "as you, Jane and FG have said … don't worry, I know what I'm doing" he said as Megan wondered if that hit on the head damaged his brain. It really hurt more she had to do this.

Pulling out the baggy, Megan hesitated "um … we made cookies last night. And … well, thought maybe you'd like some?" She said offering the bag with the single cookie in it. With a raised eyebrow, Myles looked at it then her "'some'? I think you're a bit short on the 'some' category" he said with a smirk as Megan blushed trying to think of a cover up lie. They only really made two.

"Well … we never had chocolate chip cookies before … or chocolate chips … o-or cookies" she said as Myles dropped his teasing look quickly "oh … hey I wasn't trying to-" he said as Megan realized she made him feel guilty "n-no i just …" she said as she hesitated trying to think of what to say before mentally smirking at what to say and continued talking "Jay and Carlos … I managed to sneak one away before they inhaled them all" she said before handing him the baggy.

Gingerly taking it, Myles looked at the girl "we could split it-" "no no" Megan said she said before pushing it to him "after the week you've had, you need a whole one, not a half" she said as Myles couldn't help but kindly smile and took the cookie out. He felt something in it magic wise but … well he had to hope his training on potion immunity worked.

"Tell you what, I'll make you guys two batches of brownies for your trouble. That way at least you Mal and Evie can have plenty" he said before taking a bite of the cookie. Instantly, Myles started to feel a warming sensation around his heart and when he looked at Megan, it was like tunnel vision. Despite himself, he ate the whole thing and smiled at her. "So I'll see you at the Tourney game?" He said as Megan walked down the hall, a flash of regret showed on her face as she left.

As soon as she left, Myles bolted in the other direction and barged into his mom's office as Jane was trying to, again, convince FG to use her wand to make her beautiful. "MYLES!" FG exclaimed as her son clenched his chest and both fairies ran to him.

"Myles what is it?!" Jane asked as Myles groaned and fell to the floor "Megan slipped me a love potion!" He said as Jane looked insulted while FG looked both amused and shocked. "I can feel it taking effect! GAH! WHY DOES IT HURT?!" he cried as FG started to burst into laughter and fell on the floor, herself.

"MOM?!" Jane exclaimed as FG waved her hand while laughing "the lake-" she said before clearing her throat but still had a huge grin on her face. "The Enchanted Lake Water, dear. In the cabinet" she said as Jane rushed over and got out a bottle of Enchanted Waters. Unscrewing it, she flung the liquid at Myles' face who started to calm down. His face and hair drenched as he looked at his sister and spat out some that got in his mouth.

"Thanks" he said before getting up and conjured a towel to dry himself off and glared at his still giggling mother. "I'm glad I could entertain you with my suffering, mother" Myles said sarcastically as FG gave him a glaring smirk before getting up herself, dusting off her dress.

"Sweetie" FG began, still filled with mirth "love spells and potions don't work like you think" he said as both Myles and Jane had an almost identical look of confusion. "It's impossible to create love, and they don't always work … they just bring out subconscious feelings of affection" she said before chuckling "but if someone actually has fallen for the person the potion or spell is targeted … well …" she said before gesturing to her son.

Myles was stunned to say the least and had no idea what to say to that "I … no … no no I can't … actually be in- no … mom NO!" Myles said like it was the worst thing to ever happen "I-It was obviously just a test or something, to see if it worked- there's no way-" he said as FG looked worried "Myles it's nothing to be ashamed-" "I CAN'T!" Her son cried out, looking at her in depression "no one … no one could ever love me" he said as tears started to fall, shocking both mother and sister.

"What is with my children and self insecurities?" FG muttered, shaking her head before cupping his face and turning it to look at her "now you listen to me young man" she said sternly, yet kindly "just because of what happened last time does not mean it will happen with Megan … she cares deeply for you, anyone can see that" she said but Myles' eyes looked insecure. "Besides, you need to keep up appearances … Megan thinks the potion worked and it might be a good idea for her to think that so we find out what they're up to"

Hearing this, Myles glared at his mom and backed away. "You want me to spy on them?!" He questioned but FG just shook her head "I think something is going on to make them want to use love potion cookies … and potent ones at that. The side effects are kind of embarrassing" she said, making Myles forget his defensive nature to the VKs at that "side effects?"

"Yeah: gushy feelings, talking before you think, bursting into song, that sort of thing" FG said with a shrug but then Myles realized something "oh no … Ben" Myles said, making FG confused but Jane caught on "you really think?" Jane asked while Myles nodded "oh yeah, if we hurry we can make it to the Tourney Field" he said and ran out as Jane grabbed the last bottle of Enchanted Waters and ran after them leaving a confused Fairy Godmother behind who only understood what was going on a minute later.

Ben was next

"I don't believe it" Myles said in horror at the sight before them as Jane frowned in defeat "we're too late"

Ben was on the cannon blaster on the Tourney field facing the crowd. The game was over but the band was playing a pretty funky beat while the Tourney players were actually doing coordinated dance moves to the song which Ben was singing.

"Did I mention / / that I'm in love with you?

And did I mention / / there's nothin' I can do?"

The two twins looked at each other in shock, both thinking the exact same thing: since when can Ben sing like that. "What was in that cookie?" Jane asked as Myles started wiping his tongue, praying to whoever listened that he wouldn't do that either.

"No problem, we just wait till he's finished then give him the wa-" he said as Jane unscrewed the lid but then was knocked over by a group of kids hearing Ben sing and ran to get a better view. Unfortunately, they also got Jane who dropped the water bottle, spilling most of the contents and rolled over to Chad Charming who grabbed it. Just when Myles and Jane looked over, Chad had drank the last drop of it and continued to dance.

"Please tell me that wasn't the last bottle" Myles said looking at Jane who winced "okay … i won't tell you then" she said indicating that was the last bottle. With an annoyed sigh, Myles got up just as Ben went up to the bleachers to Mal as both the twins ran after him.

"I love you Mal, did I mention that?" Ben asked in the microphone and tried to kiss her but Myles held him back "ooookay, casanova" Myles said grabbing the microphone from the prince and handed it to the announcer mouthing 'sorry' "might wanna wait till a better time" he said as Ben looked at him and nodded "right … right, Mal-" he said before looking toward the purple-haired VK "would you be my date to coronation?" he asked as Mal awkwardly looked at him before nodding.

Smiling, Myles rubbed where his scar was and led the prince off the bleachers but then Ben put his hands on the arms of his advisor "Myles … I-I need to find the perfect place to take her. You have great ideas" he said making Myles chuckle "u-um …" he said then actually did have a great idea "the Enchanted Lake" he said as Ben had a huge grin on his face.

"I'd be lost without you, man" he said as Myles actually looked surprised at that before smiling and went to join his teammates.

"He really would, you know" Megan said from behind him as Myles spun around to face her. It was like having a small heart attack just looking at her and his cheeks turned a tint of pink. For the first time in his life, he felt completely unsure of what to say.

"Myles? You okay?" Megan asked looking at him sort of hoping he wouldn't burst into song too but it looked more like he was nervous. Maybe the potion works differently with other people? Maybe it hasn't taken full effect?

"I … um … f-fine" he said, feeling his throat close up slightly and felt weak in the knees. In all honesty le looked like a cornered animal wanting to run away. Megan wasn't sure what to think about that so she took a step back "s-sorry … just … i saw you here and … I don't know …" Megan said before trailing off slightly which made that pain in Myles' chest ache more.

"I can't sing" Myles said, making Megan blink in confusion but he continued. "I'm rubbish honestly, can't carry a tune at all … can't dance either … I'm not strong or handsome … I'm not important, not really … I accepted years ago that no one could ever have feelings for me and that I shouldn't try to feel anything for anyone" he said, causing Megan to slowly understand, or think anyway, that the potion was taking effect.

In a way it was.

"And then I met you … I felt … happy. I could be myself and not fear being bullied because of what I am" Myles said, looking at Megan and neither of them noticing they drew a crowd around them. "But now … I'm petrified" he said with emotion and shook his head "I know I can never be good enough-" he started to say shocking Megan and one of the girls looked away, awkwardly leaving. "But … I-" he said struggling to talk but Megan just gently touched where his scar was.

It was a small gesture but it sent the message and Myles was hurting trying to push down his feelings. So much so a single tear fell from his left eye which Megan noticed. "I swear … I'll try my hardest to not break your heart" she said with a sad smile and hugged him making the crowd 'aww' at them.

Luckily Jane and Evie were making them leave but it wasn't until FG came by that the crowd dispersed. Looking at the two hug each other, in their own world, FG couldn't help but feel giddy at the sight then sighed "seems like love is everywhere today" she said. Unfortunately, Jane heard her and frowned as she left, unseen by anyone except for Tourney player 101: Carlos
