The following morning Laxus and Mira waited anxiously for their son to come downstairs for breakfast. Because of this Mira was barely able to focus as she mixed pancake batter causing her to slosh a lot. Laxus was just staring at the stairs and listening intently for the pitter patter of his son's tiny footsteps.
The minutes passed by agonizingly as the uncomfortable silence that had already begun that morning, perpetrated. It didn't matter how many times Daimon had his episodes or how often, each time they created deep stirring feelings of guilt in his parents. It was their fault their son was suffering, despite the assurance and protest of all their friends that they could have never known this would happen.
"Mommy? Daddy?" A little voice squeaked tiredly.
Both parents broke out of their guilty trance and saw their son standing tiredly, holding his special baby blanket, by his father's chair. Apparently in the twos stupor Daimon had walked down the stairs and over to his father without them noticing.
"Hey good morning Sparky! How did you sleep?" Laxus asked with a forced smile as he scooped up his son into his lap, trying to make it seem like nothing was wrong.
"I don know, I feew so tiwewd." Daimons said very tiredly as he laid on his daddy's chest, blanket in hand.
"Oh...I'm sorry buddy, why don't we have some breakfast? Maybe that'll help you wake up, you can even sit on daddy's lap if you'd like." Laxus suggested trying his best to not to freak out.
Daimon nodded his head and sat up trying to do his best to stay awake.
"Would you like one or two pancakes sweetheart?" Mira asked as she walked over and crouched down to her son, all while stroking his soft hair.
"Two pweas." Daimon requested with a big yawn.
Mira lightly smiled, happy to know her son's appetite wasn't affected, and went to prepare her family's food. Meanwhile Laxus just held his son close, letting him rest on his muscular and brawny chest. This was one of the most painful parts of their son's condition for him. It was watching the energetic, happy, and playful little boy he knew be turned into a sickly looking, tired, and physically sore toddler, all from one outburst of uncontainable energy.
After a moment of waiting Mirajane returned with plates of food plans placed them in the families normal spots. Once it was all served out the Makarov family slowly ate, Laxus carefully balancing his son on his knee as he did so. However as the meal progressed, Daimon began to regain his strength and started one of those silly but entertaining conversations small children loved to start.
Almost immediately this had them all laughing and talking, destroying the awkward silence and sense of dread in the room. Soon enough they were done eating and the couple split up the to-do's of the morning. Laxus stayed downstairs to clean their little kitchen, while Mira went up stairs and helped Daimon get ready for the day.
Once they finished their tasks the family decided it was the perfect day to go on a little pick-nic. The sun was shining, the weather was good, and Mira and Laxus didn't have to go back to the guild till tomorrow, so now was the time. So they packed a simple lunch of sandwiches and fresh fruit and were off to a nearby waterfall in the East Forest.
As they traveled Mira and Laxus took turns holding Daimon. They knew he hadn't recovered enough to quite walk all the way to their destination, and they also wanted to give him an opportunity to nap. The little boy obviously took this, resting peacefully and deeply in his parents arms as they walked. After almost an hour they finally made it to their pic-nic site, a beautiful waterfall next to a little lush and green clearing.
"Daimon..Daimon...sparky...wake up. We're here!" Laxus said as he gently stirred his son, who was resting in his arms.
Daimon began to flutter his eyes open and then yawned and stretched his little arms. Once he was completely woken up he looked around and was in complete awe. It was all so green and pretty, he wondered if he was just in a dream.
"Is dis a dream?" Daimon asked in pure awe.
"No sweetheart this is Kiri No falls, we're going to eat lunch here." Mira said as she took her son into her arms and gave him a full view of their eating spot.
"Wow is so pwetty!" Daimon squealed, now fully recovered from his magic overload attack.
"It is, isn't it? You know this is where your daddy asked me to marry him." Mira told her son fondly.
"Weawy!" Daimon gasped as he looked at his mother's face.
"Really, though he didn't ask me very confidently. He was so nervous, but it was so sweet and adorable!" Mira gushed as she reminisced.
"Babe! Don't tell our son that!" Laxus blushed, feeling embarrassed over the memory of his less than stellar proposal.
"Why, it was so sweet and never had I seen you so nervous before, it made me feel special." Mira said as she walked over to her husband and put her free arm around his torso and leaning against him affectionately.
Laxus smiled and put his arms around his wife and son, happy to have his family together in such a way even just now. Once they finished their intimate moment they set up their blanket, as Daimon explored around, and all their food. It was quite an idealistic scene, one that would bring happiness to anyone's heart.
From there the Dreyar's ate their yummy sandwiches each, though simple, made exactly how each person wanted. But it was Mira who made them so no real surprise there. Then after that they decided to go for a swim in the little lake under the waterfall. Together they splashed around, Mira and Laxus taking turns to hold Daimon since he couldn't swim, and swam down as deep as possible. It was all quite a fun time, but then Laxus decided to climb the waterfall, while carrying Daimon!
This made Mira quite nervous as she watched her husband carry her one and only baby all while free climbing. Eventually he made it to the top, without any slipping, and looked down at his wife with a sense of pride.
"Laxus please be careful with him!" Mira pleaded afraid her precious son would get hurt from the fall or drown when they'd hit the water.
"Don't worry Mira, I got him! Are you ready sparky?"
"I'm scawd daddy, is so faw." Daimon answered afraid of falling down so far.
"I know it's scary, but it'll be so much fun! And daddy's gonna be holding onto you the entire time, so no need to worry." Laxus said, trying to comfort his scared little boy.
Daimon looked down the waterfall and then at his daddy's comforting yet confident smile, and then knew what to do.
"Ok."
"That's my brave little man, now make sure to hold onto me really tight, ok." Laxus said as he repositioned Daimon to make sure he was very secure in his arms.
"Ok daddy!" Daimon said with a confident little smile as he locked his arms around his father's neck.
"Alright here we go, callabunga!" Laxus yelled as he ran and jumped off the cliff, holding as tightly to Daimon as possible.
As they fell for what seemed hours, Daimon squealed with delight the entire time. Both father and son were smiling widely till they hit the water with a big thud. A giant pillar of water splashed out, reaching most of the dry land around the little lake. Once the spray cleared there was pure silence making Mira very nervous. Then at last Laxus broke to the surface breathing heavily as he tried to keep a float. This made Mira sigh with relief, till she noticed something that made her heart nearly stop.
"Laxus where's Daimon?" Mira asked her face completely pale.
Laxus' heart stopped and his face went equally as pale. In burst pure panic the two frantically started swimming around looking for their baby boy.
"Daimon!" Laxus screamed.
"Daimon we're coming!" Mira screeched as she dove down to save her child.
But as she dove deep she saw no sign of the little toddler anywhere. Mira then rocketed back up completely hyperventilating and nearly in tears as she was faced with a terrible reality.
"He's gone! He's gone!" Mira wailed in complete despair.
"No he can't be! I never let go of him!" Laxus freaked out.
The two were on the verge of tears, but then Mira felt a tap on her leg. She looked down and saw a tiny little guppy swimming around her legs. Then before her eyes Mira watched as the guppy transformed into her son. He bobbed up to the top gasping for air but was immediately wrapped in Mira's safe arms.
"Daimon, you're alright!" Mira squealed in pure relief as she held her son tightly.
"Mommy!" Daimon squealed equally relieved as he clung his mother.
"Daimon!" Laxus bellowed as he swam over to his wife and child as fast as possible.
He immediately took them into his arms and kicked back to shore. Once they were back in dry land the couple immediately wrapped their son in a towel and sat down to talk with him.
"Daimon you transformed! But how and what happens to you baby?" Mira asked, feeling a mix of relief and absolute confusion at the same time.
"I dunno, daddy and mes wen in da water and den I was so small! And den I swam awound wike a fishy and den found yous." Daimon explained to them not sure how it all happened.
"Wow that's amazing, but you scared mommy and daddy so much sparky. We thought we lost you." Laxus praised and said worriedly as he took his son into his arms.
"I sowy daddy." Daimon said as he looked down in disappointment, almost about to cry.
"Hey hey shh shh we're not mad at you baby, we were just scared we lost our precious little treasure who we love very much. But I guess mommy will have to start training you in transformation magic like daddy does for lightning magic." Laxus comforted as he ruffled his son wet and wild hair.
Daimon giggles and hugged his daddy's chest, feeling lucky to have such a loving father and mother.
"I woves you mommy and daddy!" Daimon said with pure love only a child could have for their parents.
"We love you too sweetheart and don't forget it." Mira said as she joined the two making a big group hug.
The Makarov family was all smiling and comforted, feeling happy to be together as they were, only solidifying their strong and beautiful bond. But in the midst of all this, they were unaware they were still being watched.
The Next Day at the Guild Hall
As usual it was very busy in the Fairy Tail guild hall everyone talking, eating, drinking, and gushing over kids. Ever since the birth of Fairy Tail's new additions no one could get enough of them. They were held, played with, cooed, and fawned over as much as any baby or toddler could be. The guild had even made a little day care center due to growing demand for it from the parental wizards.
It was run by a rotation of Laki,Wendy, Cana, and Lisanna, each helping out every other day for about 5,000 jewel per child. Both loved the job, as much work as it was, and looked forward to their days they got to take care of the kids.
Speaking of the kids, they had quite the roster so far in their little day care. They had their oldest was Asuka who was eight, then Daimon who was three, then Elkwood and Rosemary who were both about two and a half, then Nashi, Silver, and Ame who were seven months, and the youngest being Emma at four months. They were all very sweet babies/toddlers/kids and were all quite easy to take care of albeit energetic and rambunctious at times for the older toddler aged kids.
Anyways Mira and Laxus then came in, Laxus holding Daimon and a backpack of stuff for him, and were immediately swarmed. Many of the members tried to seize Daimon, all of them finding him very adorable and lovable, but failed due to Laxus's protective hold on him.
"Come on Laxus, let us take him for a little bit! We want a bit of time with the little spark." Wakaba whined as he tried to grab Daimon.
"Yeah come on you almost never let us see him!" Cana gripped, loving all of her little nieces and nephews.
"Back off he's my son, and I will determine who gets to have time with him." Laxus growled as he held his son out of the way.
"Well do I at least get time with him, he is my great grandson after all!"
Everyone looked down to see the master standing there waiting impatiently.
"Gwampa!" Daimon squealed as he reached for his beloved great grandfather.
Master Makarov smiled widely as he then grew and took the adorable three year old into his arms.
"Well hello Daimon! Grandpa is very happy to see you today!" Gramps gushed as he tickled his grandson's pudgy tummy.
Daimon squealed with delight as he was racked with ticklish sensations. Everyone awed and felt jealous at the same time loving the wonderful relationship the two had, but also jealous of the personal time they got.
"Alright gramps come on we have to drop him off at daycare soon. Mira and I have a train to catch for our next job." Laxus said as he held his arms up to retrieve his son.
"Oh alright I guess I have to." Makarov said as he started to shrink and returned Daimon to Laxus's arms.
The master then turned and left, having many things to take care of that day.
"Bye bye gwampa!" Daimon waved excitedly.
"Goodbye my boy, grandpa will see you later."
The master then left and the Dreyar family continued, undeterred to the DayCare section of the guild hall. Behind a door to the back of the guild was the daycare/nursery for all of Fairy Tail little ones. In it was a plethora of toys for all ages, baby/ toddler necessities, and all you could ever ask for a daycare center. Once the couple entered they saw Lisanna inside, much to Laxus's relief, and all the other parents dropping off their kids. At the moment she was talking to Erza who had the poor girl pinned in a usual lecture about the proper care of her precious little girl.
"...remember she needs…"Erza explained, still holding Rosemary, to Lisanna.
"Erza I know, relax, I take care of her at least several times a week. I know what to do." Lisanna chuckled, as she took Rosemary into her arms, trying not to sound annoyed at Erza's neurotic lecture.
"I know, I should put more trust in you, it's just she's…" Erza was unable to finish as she stroked her daughter's adorable little head.
"Your one and only little girl, I know. I may not be a mother quite yet, but I'm sure I'll further understand soon." Lisanna said as she put her free hand over her growing stomach.
"Just you wait, it'll be like nothing you have experienced." Erza said with a happy smile as she put her own hand on Lisanna's stomach.
"I'm sure, now get going, Jellal is waiting for you!" Lisanna ushered Erza as she set Rosemary down.
"I will, I will just let me say goodbye. Rosemary, sweetheart, comes and give mommy a hug and a kiss." Erza said as she crouched down with her arms open.
Rosemary with her happy smile cane running to her mother hugged her little arms around her and gave her a peck on the cheek.
"Bye bye mommy!" Rosemary squealed.
"Bye bye sweetheart. Mommy and daddy will be back soon, but behave for auntie Lisanna like a good girl till then."
"Ok mommy, I wove yous!" Rosemary said as she hugged her mother tightly once more.
"I love you too!" Erza said as she enveloped her daughter once more in her arms.
Once their hug was done Erza left and Rosemary ran off to go play with the other children. Then the Makarov family came up to Lisanna and Daimon smiled widely.
"Aunty Lisanna!" Daimon squealed as he launched himself at his beloved aunt.
Lisanna smiled happily as she caught her sweet little nephew in her arms.
"Hi Daimon it's so good to see you." Lisanna said as she ruffled her nephew's soft wild hair.
"Yous too, awe my baby cousins hewe yet?" Daimon asked excitedly as he reached down and touched his aunt's belly, excited for the arrival her triplets.
"Not yet little guy, but they will soon." Lisanna explained simply as she put her larger hand over his smaller one and rubbed it over her stomach.
"He asks that question, almost everyday." Mira chuckles, knowing that her son already loved his cousin Elkwood and was waiting excitedly for his new cousins.
"Everyone does at this point." Lisanna blushed, knowing everyone, especially Bixlow, were anxiously awaiting her triplets birth, though still months away.
"It's always exciting when new babies come." Mira gushed.
"That it is, but you better get going, your train should be leaving soon." Lisanna urged, knowing if they didn't get going soon Laxus would never leave.
"Yeah we should, just make sure to keep a good eye on our boy. He's been going through.." Laxus started to worriedly explain.
"I am well aware. So don't worry, I have everything I need in case he has an accident." Lisanna explained not about to have another neurotic parental lecture, especially from her brother in law.
"Accident! Daddy Is potty twained!" Daimon said embarrassed since he was fully competent.
"Haha we know buddy, we meant a different kind of accident. Now give mommy and daddy a kiss!" Laxus dodged as he then bent down for a kiss.
Daimon immediately obliged and then he was raised to his mother's cheek to give her one.
"Bye bye mommy and daddy!" Daimon squealed as he waved them off.
"Bye sweetheart we'll miss you!"
"Be good for your aunt sparky, we love you!"
"I woves yous too!"
With that the parents walked out and left their son in the care of Mira's sister, trusting her to take care of their precious little baby.
"Alright what do you say we join the others to play now Daimon?" Lisanna asked as she adjusted Daimon to her hip.
"Yeah pway time!" Daimon squealed excitedly.
The two then turned and walked over to the area where the other children were and Lucy's daughter Nashi could be seen on the floor playing with the Fullbuster twins with a set of blocks. Gajeel and Levy's daughter Emma was napping in a little bassinet/swing while Asuka and Elkwood were playing a friendly game of tag together. It was a heartwarming sight seeing all the kids, who despite their very young age had been threw much, playing ever so carefree and happily. But unfortunately it wouldn't last long for they were being unknowingly watched.
