Note: Seeing as I have just started this story, it might take a while for me to get this one finished. However, I hope that everyone likes it. Before I continue on, I have to say, I had no idea that Love or Lust would be one of my more popular stories. I hope that some more people like it when they read it. Also, if any of you are wondering when this story takes place, it's almost two months after the events of Assault, so Sabre and Randorn survived the attacks by the Aparoids. You can't help but wonder why they didn't do anything to confirm to Krystal that they were alive, I guess they just didn't want to get in her way. That, or they didn't know that she joined Star Fox. Okay, now let's get into chapter two.
Chapter 2: Adrian DiMaggio
Sabre dialed in the number of the bounty hunter he encountered earlier into the communicator of the ship and sat near it, hoping to hear her response. However, after a few rings, there was no answer.
"Figures." Sabre sighed.
"Did you really expect her to call you back?" Randorn asked.
"Call or no call," the younger wolf said, "we still need to figure out who she is."
"I'm sure we'll find out who she is when the time comes." Randorn stated.
A knock came on the door of the ship. When the door was opened, Sabre and Randorn saw a droid carrying an envelope to them. Sabre grabbed the envelope and opened it, where a note was inside. The former Knight then proceeded to read the note:
People of Fortuna,
Tonight, I invite you to my ship for a gathering. Seeing as there aren't an awful lot of you on this planet, I expect for you to attend and socialize with each other. Just think of it as a way of getting out of the house.
Adrian DiMaggio
"Shall we attend?" Randorn asked.
"We shall." Sabre answered, "After all, we haven't really interacted with anyone on this planet."
"What if we see that bounty hunter?" The lupine mage asked.
"Then we can protect everyone from her." The former Knight stated.
"Sounds like a plan." The older wolf stated.
"Yes," the younger wolf said, "a plan that would save everyone."
When the time came, Sabre and Randorn went to a massive ship that was parked in the middle of the jungle. Inside the ship, there wasn't a lot of people, but they were talking with each other and even dancing. There was also a jazz band, complete with a lone guitarist. In the middle of the area, there was a cougar dressed in a tuxedo. This person was talking to some other people.
"That must be the DiMaggio guy." Randorn surmised.
"No doubt about it." Sabre stated.
The cougar came towards the two wolves, noticing them.
"Welcome to the gathering," he introduced himself, "I am Adrian DiMaggio."
"Kind of figured that you were him." Sabre said as he shook DiMaggio's hand.
"Nice to meet you, sir." Randorn stated as he shook the cougar's other hand.
"I guess I should show you around." DiMaggio said.
"You don't have to if you don't want to." Sabre stated.
"Really?" The cougar was surprised, "I mean, I'm happy to give you guys a tour."
"I'm sure that we'll figure out what's what in here." Randorn said.
The two Cerinians walked into the room, where they were met with a few curious partygoers. These people had never seen either of them before, not even when they were out running errands.
"Who are you?" One of the guests, a kangaroo, asked.
"I'm Sabre," Sabre introduced himself before gesturing towards Randorn, "and this is my grandfather, Randorn. I was a Knight and my grandfather is a wizard."
"Where are you guys from?" Another guest, a frog, asked.
"Cerinia." Randorn answered.
"Didn't that planet get destroyed?" A black bear asked.
"Yes," the lupine wizard said, "and I'm making it my life's goal to find whoever caused the destruction of Cerinia and make them pay!"
"Good luck with that." The kangaroo stated.
"By the way," a tiger, another one of the guests, spoke, "do you guys want to talk about anything else?"
"There's nothing much that we could talk about." Sabre said, "It just seems like it was only yesterday when this planet was being attacked by weird bug-like creatures."
"Actually," the frog stated, "that was almost two months ago. We're glad that the Aparoids are gone."
"Star Fox kicked their monster asses." The tiger noted, "It's still a little surprising that those Star Wolf jackasses helped to fight the Aparoids."
"I know," the black bear added, "those jerks worked with Andross and they helped to extinguish another threat. Ironic, isn't it?"
"I hate to interrupt the discussion," Sabre stated, "but why did Mr. DiMaggio invite me and my grandfather?"
"Beats the hell outta me." The tiger said.
"Yeah," the frog stated, "the guy's one of the richest people in the Lylat System."
"Maybe he invited you guys to help you feel included." The kangaroo suggested.
"That's awful nice of him." Randorn noted.
"I trust that we'll become his friends if we got to know him." Sabre added.
"Believe me," the black bear stated, "you guys wouldn't be the first people to do that."
"Why is that?" Randorn asked.
Before the conversation could continue, there was an explosion outside of the ship. Everyone, except Sabre and Randorn, went into a panic.
"Don't worry everyone, we'll take care of it!" Sabre drew his sword.
"We'll keep all of you safe!" Randorn said as a blue light started to glow in the palm of his hand.
The two wolves went outside of the ship, where they met the bounty hunter they encountered earlier that day.
"Hello." Sabre greeted as means of being friendly.
"Out of my way." The rabbit coldly stated as she pulled out a blaster.
"Why?" Randorn asked.
"Because I have a job to do." The doe growled.
"We aren't letting you in," the lupine stated, "there are innocent people in there."
"Not my problem." The bounty hunter raised her blaster to the ship.
"Looks like we'll have to deal with you." Sabre tightened his grip around his sword.
"Very well then," the rabbit stated, "fight me, Cerinian."
The bounty hunter and Sabre fought again, with Sabre on the winning edge. Despite the rabbit's ferocity, she just couldn't keep up with the former Knight in battle. Getting knocked down, she then fired a taser at Sabre, with the wolf refusing to stay down.
"Leave my grandson alone!" Randorn shouted as he fired a bolt of blue magic at the bounty hunter, which knocked her a few feet back.
"I'll remember this!" The doe screamed as she flew off in her jet pack, "You called me, you know!"
When she was gone, DiMaggio came out and helped Sabre to his feet.
"Thanks boys." The cougar kindly stated, "I've been having trouble with that killer bunny ever since she arrived to this planet."
"We'll deal with her when we see her again." Randorn said, "All we need to do is trap her in a cage and ship her off to jail."
"That's the problem," DiMaggio said, "she's a bounty hunter. Even if the cops caught her, she'll just sneak out of prison."
"We'll make sure that she never escapes again." Sabre said.
"Are you really going to try and catch her?" The cougar asked.
"Yes," Randorn said, "and you don't have to worry, because she will have been dealt with."
"But we won't kill the rabbit," Sabre said, "we'll just keep her until the police comes to get her. A knight would never raise his blade to a lady.
"I should be glad that I met you two." DiMaggio said.
"Shall we head back inside?" Randorn asked.
"You may." The cougar stated.
Unbeknownst to those on Fortuna, a fly-sized camera had been recording what had been going on. The footage was then sent to Corneria, where a member of the Army saw it all. He carefully watched the events on a small screen, especially the part with the bounty hunter.
"Fairbanks," the pilot sighed, "why did you leave Corneria? We offered to help you find those who killed your family. The General even sent you his condolences."
He then went to the part of the video that had shown Saber and Randorn.
"Looks like Cerinia had more survivors than we thought." The pilot stated, "I'm going to have to go down there. If it angers the General, he can sue me. No matter what happens, I'm going to keep them from getting killed by Fairbanks."
Note: Who wants to guess who the character the message went to was? Anyway, we've just learned the surname of the bounty hunter who was attacking the social gathering. I'll also reveal more about her as the story goes on. While I'm at it, I have been focused on other stuff as I have been writing my stories. Those things are my birthday (which is tomorrow), Halloween, and Election Day. I have voted for Biden, mainly because I cannot handle four more years of Trump. We do not need that racist, homophobic, and misogynistic man as our President again, so Biden was my choice for President (I hope he wins and that Trump is taken out of the White House). I was going to vote for Bernie Sanders, but he dropped out of the Election. What did you guys think about this chapter? Let me know when you leave a review or give a constructive criticism. Until next time guys, peace!
