Note: Is the story boring so far? If it is, I'm sorry. Is it also because I said that Star Fox wouldn't make physical appearances in this story? I'm pretty sure that not all Star Fox stories have to include the team themselves, even if Krystal has a cameo or two in here. I think I gave myself a bad reputation when I posted My Stance On Star Fox. I guess that I should have just kept my opinions to myself instead of writing one big essay about what direction the franchise would go if I had creative control. Anyway, let's move on to chapter three.

Chapter 3: Another Attack

Sabre and Randorn were sleeping soundly in their ship, letting nothing disturb them. The two Cerinians had nothing else to do, considering how they had just gotten finished fighting off a bounty hunter. In addition to that, the wolves had promised one of the richest people in the Lylat system that they would trap said bounty hunter. With that in mind, they had nothing else to worry about. As they slept, Sabre had a dream that bothered him.

"Sabre?" A voice rang out, "Sabre!"

Sabre turned his head to see Krystal, who was much older than how she was before Cerinia's destruction. She was also wearing a blue and black bodysuit.

"Krystal," the wolf happily embraced her, "you've gotten so big!"

"I guess that I have." The cobalt vixen said.

"I wish that I could see you again!" Sabre said as tears welled up in his eyes.

"Me too," the younger female said, "but you have to stay strong before we meet again."

"Why?" The former Knight of Cerinia asked.

"Because, Big Brother, I won't be able to see you again for a while." Krystal answered, her words tugging at Sabre's heartstrings.

"When will we meet again, Krystal?" The older male asked.

"I'm not sure," the vixen stated, "but it would be great to see you again in-person. Until then, I'll be with my team as we fight threats all throughout the galaxy."

"Are we sharing the same dream?" Sabre asked.

"Yes," the younger female said, "but I have to go now. I think that someone is shaking me awake. Goodbye, Sabre."

"Krystal, wait!" The wolf cried as the vixen faded away, "Don't leave me! Come back! Krystal, please come back!"

Sabre woke up and saw that Randorn was sitting near him, the latter's face showing concern.

"Bad dream, grandson?" The older Cerinian asked.

"I saw Krystal." The younger male moaned.

"What else?" The lupine mage asked.

"She said that she was with a team that fights intergalactic threats," Sabre sighed, "so she's okay. Someone must have picked her up from Sauria."

"I hope that whoever she's with is treating her well." Randorn sighed.

"Me too." Sabre added.

All of a sudden there was an explosion in the distance.

"Again?" Randorn asked in annoyance.

"Our bounty hunter friend must be at it." Sabre got his sword out.

"Shall I use a teleportation spell?" The lupine mage asked.

"Yes," the younger wolf said, "it's better than walking a long distance to get to somewhere at night."

Randorn uttered a few ethereal words, then, after a few seconds, he and Sabre then disappeared out of the ship and started to head towards where the bounty hunter was at.

The bounty hunter was firing a blaster at a crowd of people wielding blasters similar to hers. The doe found herself in a stalemate, given how her foes had outnumbered her by six. However, she managed to kill all but three of them. The remaining three tried to outperform her by shooting the blaster out of her hand. Unfortunately for them, the rabbit threw a plasma grenade at them, which killed them all. When they were dead, the bounty hunter took out her phone.

"I'm ready to collect my reward." She spoke, "They're all dead, like I promised."

"Not so fast, young lady." Randorn said as he teleported in front of her.

"What is the matter with you?!" The bounty hunter harshly spoke, "That's a good way to kill someone!"

"Why did you kill those men?" Sabre asked.

"It's my job, dumbass!" The doe glared at him.

"What do you mean?" The Cerinian curiously looked at her.

"Those men I killed were a dangerous gang of thieves." The rabbit explained, "My employer ordered me to kill them. They were of no concern to Star Fox, so I didn't have any competition on my hands."

"Star Fox?" Randorn asked.

"They're the galaxy's loyal defenders." The bounty hunter stated.

"We kind of knew that," Sabre spoke, "but also we've heard of a group named Star Wolf."

"Those guys are bad news, from what I've heard." The rabbit said.

"But they helped to fight another threat to the galaxy." Randorn added.

"They probably just did it to suck up to General Pepper." The doe stated.

"I take it that he's the leader of the galaxy?" Sabre spoke.

"Not the entire galaxy, just Corneria." The bounty hunter said, "I actually used to live there until something horrible happened to me."

"What happened?" Randorn asked.

"I don't want to talk about it!" She sternly said.

"Tell us and we'll help you!" Sabre said.

"Get back!" The doe screamed as she threw a trap at them, "I don't need your help!"

The trap surrounded Sabre and Randorn for a few seconds before it dispersed. When it was gone, the two Cerinians saw a familiar face: Adrian DiMaggio.

"Mr. DiMaggio?" Sabre asked.

"You haven't been working on trapping her yet, have you?" DiMaggio asked.

"No," Randorn stated, "but we've found out some more about her. Apparently, she used to live on a planet called Corneria before something went down."

"I think that we should leave her alone." Sabre said, "She probably just wants to be alone."

"Don't take pity on her, boys." DiMaggio warned, "She's a cold, emotionless killer. She isn't even like Star Fox or Star Wolf now that they've hired that Panther guy."

"Well then," Randorn said, "I guess we'll trap her tomorrow."

"We'll use a cage, if you're wondering." Sabre stated.

"Good," DiMaggio said as he walked off, "call me when you do so."

"We will." Sabre said.

When DiMaggio was gone, Sabre and Randorn proceeded to walk back to their ship.

"He's rather suspicious." Randorn spoke.

"The bounty hunter is also an enigma," Sabre stated, "given how we know little about her."

"She did reveal some more about herself." The lupine mage said.

"But that doesn't change the fact that she's a threat to Fortuna." The former Knight of Cerinia argued.

"When we trap her, she won't be as much of a threat as she is now." Randorn stated.

"You're right," Sabre said, "we just need to get her when she's dazed."

"I'm sure that we can do that." The older Cerinian said, "But, for now, let's head back to sleep."

As the two wolves reentered their ship, they went back to sleep in what amounted to their beds. The silence of the night allowed them to rest peacefully. While they slept, Sabre and Randorn didn't have to worry about any threats.

Note: The unknown character from the previous chapter will make an in-person appearance in the next chapter. Can you guess who it is? If you can't, I'll reveal it next chapter. If you're reading this, EquinoxWolf, I hope you like the story so far. What did the rest of you guys think about this chapter? Let me know when you leave a review or give a constructive criticism. Until next time guys, peace!
