Note: I can see that no one has left a review on this story, but I'm not mad. Hell, it's up to you guys if you want to leave a review or not. I promise, the story will become more interesting as it goes on. While I'm at it, is anyone reading this familiar with Loonatics Unleashed? I know, random question, but I just want to know. Okay, now let's move on to chapter four.
Chapter 4: The Trap
Now that it was morning, Sabre and Randorn started gathering materials to build a cage that they would trap the bounty hunter in. The cage was mainly made of sticks, but it had some stones in it. In fact, the trap was almost completed. All the two Cerinians needed to do was finish with the roof and the floor of the cage. If the cage didn't work, however, the wolves had another idea for a trap: a force field trap spell Randorn had used before.
All of a sudden, a spaceship was heard in the sky. Out of the blue, the ship landed near Sabre and Randorn's ship/temporary home. The spaceship itself then opened up and revealed who was driving it: a dog who neither one of the Cerinian refugees had seen before. He was also wearing army clothing and a helmet. Whoever this person was, the two wolves could tell that he was a soldier. But the question was on their minds: was he good or bad?
"Good morning, gentlemen." The dog greeted.
"Hello." Sabre spoke.
"Who are you, stranger?" Randorn asked.
"Bill Grey." The dog introduced himself, "I'm a member of the Cornerian Army."
"Why are you here?" Sabre asked.
"I received footage of your encounter with a bounty hunter last night." Bill said.
"We encountered her twice." Randorn said.
"The second time we encountered her," Sabre explained, "we found out some new information about her. She even used to live on Corneria until something happened to her that caused her to leave it."
"That's why I'm here." Bill stated.
"Because the bounty hunter used to live on Corneria?" Randorn asked.
"That," the canine soldier spoke, "and I came down to help you guys."
"Why?" Sabre asked.
"Aren't you guys Cerinians?" He asked.
"How do you know that?" Randorn asked.
"I could tell that the garb of your friend is that of a Knight of Cerinia." Bill explained, "I have been reading about Cerinia in order to learn more about the past."
"He's my grandson," the lupine mage said, "but you can call him Sabre. You're right that his garb is that of a knight's."
"And what's your name?" The Cornerian pilot asked.
"Randorn." The older Cerinian answered.
"What was your profession on Cerinia?" Bill asked.
"I'm a wizard who was both a mentor and a man in service to the Cerinian Guild of Magic." Randorn stated.
"Nice to meet you both." The soldier said.
"Do you want to help us trap the bounty hunter?" Sabre asked.
"It looks like you can handle it," Bill looked at the cage, "even if the cage is kinda shoddy."
"Could you help us improve it?" Randorn asked.
"Why do you guys want to trap the girl anyway?" The canine pilot asked.
"We promised a rich man by the name of Adrian DiMaggio that we would do it." Sabre said.
"Adrian DiMaggio?" The Cornerian was not surprised, "Figures that he would trust you guys to catch a bounty hunter. After all, there are dozens of criminals and mercenaries that want him dead, including Star Wolf."
"Will you still help us?" The younger wolf asked.
"Sure." Bill said.
An hour later, Sabre, Randorn, and Bill were waiting for the bounty hunter to show up so that they could trap her. The three were patient enough to not make a noise during their wait. Despite that, Bill felt something touching his shoulder.
"What was that?" The Cornerian quietly asked.
"I didn't do anything," Sabre whispered, "if that's what you're about to ask."
"It's not you," the dog whispered, "I felt someone tap on my shoulders."
"I can see that." Randorn quietly stated.
"You can?" Bill whispered.
"It appears that the bounty hunter is right under our nose." The lupine mage said.
All of a sudden, Bill was thrown to the side by an unseen force. Randorn then fired a magic bolt at the unseen force, which turned out to be the bounty hunter. With her revealed, Sabre found himself fighting the rabbit again. The two traded blows as they did in their previous battles, but the bounty hunter was putting up a much better fight. Before the Cerinian could strike her, the doe threw him near the cage and tossed a smoke bomb near him. This blinded Sabre, but gave his foe an advantage.
However, Randorn and Bill weren't willing to let the bounty hunter kill Sabre, so they joined the fight. Bill tackled the murderous rabbit, but she threw him off of her. Randorn then fired a few magic bolts at the doe, with only one managing to hit her. The smoke from the smoke bomb then cleared up, allowing Sabre to see again. With the former Knight of Cerinia in battle, the bounty hunter found herself fighting him again. She had nowhere to run, given how she was surrounded by three foes.
The bounty hunter then got out her blaster and fired at her enemies, but Bill kicked it out of her hands. Before the rabbit could escape, Sabre grabbed her and tossed her into the makeshift cage. Before Sabre, Randorn, and Bill could call it a day, however, the bounty hunter broke the cage into pieces.
"That's a pretty shitty trap." The rabbit dryly said.
"But the next one won't be!" Sabre stated.
"What do you mean?" The bounty hunter glared at him.
Without warning, the doe found herself in a purple force field that was acting like a cage. She couldn't move, nor could she use any of her gadgets.
"Let me out, you bastards!" The bounty hunter snarled.
"Not until we get you to Mr. DiMaggio!" Sabre said.
"Let's interrogate her first." Randorn suggested.
"Agreed," Bill stated, "you might learn a thing or two about her."
"Okay then." Sabre said, "We'll interrogate her, but we're turning her over to the authorities after we show her to Mr. DiMaggio."
The three then went into Sabre and Randorn's ship with the captured bounty hunter floating behind them. As the door closed behind them, they knew that things were about to get more interesting.
Note: So Bill is now an ally to Sabre and Randorn, which is what I feel like he would be towards survivors of a dead planet. I decided to use him in this story so that I could get used to using supporting characters and featuring them in main roles. Next up is the interrogation chapter, where we will learn more about the bounty hunter. What did you guys think about this chapter? Let me know when you leave a review or give a constructive criticism. Until next time guys, peace!
