Note: This chapter will just be focused on DiMaggio as he waits for Sabre and Randorn to report their capture of the bounty hunter to him, unaware that Bill had joined them. I feel like it is a breath of fresh air to focus on a character who we know very little about. All right, let's move on to chapter five.
Chapter 5: Meanwhile
At his ship, Adrian DiMaggio was sitting at the table as he ate some local fruit from Fortuna. He had nothing much to do, despite being one of the richest people in the galaxy. However, he was being menaced by a bounty hunter, unless the two Cerinian survivors that he met could capture her for him. The cougar was just waiting until a bull walked into the room.
"Mr. DiMaggio." The bovine said.
"Ah," DiMaggio spoke, "Grant Hughes, my personal bodyguard, what are you doing here?"
"I'm just here to help track down that bounty hunter." Hughes stated.
"About that," the rich cougar said, "I have two men named Sabre and Randorn Glidewell who promised to catch her for us."
"Aren't they the foreigners from Cerinia?" Hughes asked.
"Yes," the feline stated, "they were the lucky ones when Cerinia blew up two years ago."
"Why did you get them and not Star Fox?" Hughes asked.
"Star Fox is probably too busy battling space monsters to deal with a bounty hunter." DiMaggio surmised.
"They are probably completing missions faster now," the bull ventured, "considering how their newest member is a telepath."
"In other words," the cougar said, "that new member is both a tracker and a communicator. I hope that he or she has other skills, because they can't just use telepathy."
"They still have that amphibian dumbass," Hughes stated, "even though I always forget his name."
"Slippy Toad?" DiMaggio asked.
"Yes," the bull said, "but still, I have to ask: Why did you get two Cerinians to catch a bounty hunter instead of Star Fox? I hear that the new member of Star Fox is another Cerinian."
"If said new member is a telepath," the rich man stated, "they could probably hear the thoughts of their fellow Cerinians as well. Another reason I met the two who are on this planet was because they could prove to be instrumental in my plan."
"What plan?" The bull asked.
"It's quite simple, really." DiMaggio said, "My plan is to spread patriotism all throughout the galaxy. I can appreciate what Star Fox has been doing, especially Fox McCloud, but I feel like they aren't patriots. If I had the two Cerinians on Fortuna by my side with the bounty hunter captured, I would run for office. With the right campaign, I would demolish the competition. General Pepper and the other leaders would have to give up when they saw my campaign ideas. As far as I'm concerned, I will make the Lylat system great again!"
"Do you think that you could defeat the other leaders?" Hughes asked.
"I don't think," the cougar answered, "I know. Besides, you and the guy we bailed out from Corneria's prison are by my side."
"Where is he, anyway?" The bull bodyguard asked.
"Right here." A jackal walked into the room.
"There you are, Roger." DiMaggio said.
"Bloodscourge," the jackal stated, "I don't go by Roger anymore."
"I never thought that a serial killer would be in on our plan to spread patriotism." Hughes noted.
"Just because I kill people," Bloodscourge said, "doesn't mean that I can't be a patriot."
"We also need you to kill a bounty hunter that has been attacking us." DiMaggio added.
"A bounty hunter?" The jackal serial killer was surprised.
"Mr. DiMaggio has two Cerinians trying to catch her." Hughes stated.
"Cerinians?" Bloodscourge was intrigued, "Didn't their planet blow up a year ago when Star Fox was battling Andross?"
"Yes," DiMaggio said, "but don't kill the Cerinians. They are also useful to my plan."
The jackal chuckled and said "I'll only kill the bounty hunter. The rest is up to you, from your plan to the aftermath. Patriotism will spread, with or without my help!"
The serial killer then left the room, leaving DiMaggio and Hughes alone.
"Do you really think that it was a good idea to hire him?" Hughes asked.
"Don't worry," DiMaggio said, "he only targets teenagers, adults, and senior citizens. With that in mind, it wouldn't be bad to have him as a secondary bodyguard and a soldier who is willing to get rid of the competition."
"What are we going to do for the time being?" Hughes asked.
"We'll just wait for our Cerinian friends to give us a call." DiMaggio stated.
The two men sat at the table, waiting for the phone to ring, or for Sabre and Randorn to come into the room and say that they caught the bounty hunter. The plan was coming along well, they could feel it.
Note: It's a good idea to show what a villain's plan is in a chapter focused mainly on them. I also brought back Bloodscourge in order to say that I can use certain characters again, but he's not a vampire this time around. Also, Grant Hughes is named after John Hughes, like how Adrian DiMaggio is named after John DiMaggio. What did you guys think about this chapter? Let me know when you leave a review or give a constructive criticism. Until next time guys, peace!
