Note: Okay, I admit, I lied when I said that chapter five would be the interrogation chapter. That, or I forgot that it was supposed to be the interrogation chapter. However, here it is, and I hope that all of you are ready for the bounty hunter's past to be revealed. So, without further ado, let's continue on with the story.
Chapter 6: Interrogation
Sabre, Randorn, and Bill surrounded the bounty hunter, who was still trapped inside Randorn's spell. Bill then took out a notepad and pencil.
"Alright bounty hunter," Randorn began, "we're going to deliver you to Adrian DiMaggio as soon as we get done with this, so we advise you to talk."
"What if I don't?" The bounty hunter crossed her arms.
"Then I'll use a magic missile to blow your head off." The lupine mage warned.
"First things first, what's your name?" Sabre asked.
"I go by a lot of names." The rabbit stated, "Some call me the Killer Rabbit, most call me the Gray-Furred Beast of Blood, and a few people have called me the Lucky Rabbit due to my skills as a bounty hunter."
"That's not your name." Bill argued, "I forgot your first name, but I remember your last name being Fairbanks or something like that."
"Is that your last name?" Sabre kindly asked.
"No," the vicious bunny glared at them, "my name is Maria Fairweather. I haven't gone by my actual name in quite some time."
"How old are you?" Randorn asked.
"Twenty-six." Maria spoke, "Look, are you going to ask me these stupid questions all day?"
"It's necessary to get all of this information out of you prior to turning you in." Bill stated.
"Believe us," Randorn added, "we don't want to do this either."
"It's how we interrogated people on Cerinia." Sabre noted.
"You're from Cerinia?" Maria asked.
"That was our home until it blew up." The lupine swordsman said, "Now we live on Fortuna."
"And I used to live on Corneria." The bounty hunter looked down.
"I remember that you used to live with your family," Bill spoke, "is that right?"
"Yes." The doe's face became a scowl.
"Why don't you go on home?" Randorn spoke, "I'm sure that your family would be happy to see you again."
"I no longer have a home!" Maria exploded, "Five years ago, my house was destroyed and my family was found dead! My mother, my father, and my older brother had their throats slit! When I found their bodies, I saw a jackal holding a knife covered in blood! Before he left, he taunted me by saying that I'm the only one left in my family!"
"The jackal you saw was Bloodscourge: Corneria's most dangerous serial killer." Bill stated.
"When I find that bastard, I'll rip his throat out!" The bounty-hunting rabbit was fuming.
"He's in jail," the Cornerian soldier said, "but he's on life imprisonment."
A vibration happened in Bill's pocket.
"What's that?" Sabre asked.
"My phone, it appears that I have a call." Bill said as he left the room, "Yo Art, what's going on?"
When Bill was out of the room, Sabre and Randorn turned to Maria.
"If a serial killer murdered your family, why are you attacking Mr. DiMaggio?" Sabre asked.
"I believe that he was involved with the death of my family." Maria stated, "When he was at the funeral, he told me that what happened was an unfortunate accident. When he said that, he sounded condescending, as if he knew something. That's when I came to the conclusion that he had something to do with Bloodscourge killing my family."
"What if he didn't?" Randorn asked, "What if you kill an innocent man?"
"It's a risk I'm willing to take." The doe answered, "After all, I have been given a bounty on DiMaggio, Bloodscourge, and the rest of their associates, whoever they may be."
"Why didn't you just ask the fabled Star Fox for help?" Sabre asked.
"They have dealt with Bloodscourge before." The rabbit said, "I heard that they captured him a few weeks ago. He got caught in a trap set by two of the members, Falco Lombardi and Krystal Bodimead. I decided not to ask them for help because I figured that they would be busy with something. I wanted to ask Star Wolf, but there was no way I would even consider working with those scum!"
"Good to hear that Krystal caught a dangerous criminal!" Randorn happily said.
"You know her?" Maria asked.
"She was the Princess of Cerinia prior to the planet being destroyed." The lupine mage explained, "Before the planet was officially annihilated, she was sent to another planet called Sauria. We haven't seen her in a year, but I take it that Star Fox found her with no problem?"
"I'm half-surprised that your pretty princess even managed to survive on Sauria, that planet is an absolute hellhole!" The bounty hunter looked at them.
"She's smart, brave, and a telepath." Sabre said, "I can only assume that the team recruited her because she had such desirable qualities. Back on Cerinia, she was kind of like my little sister."
"You didn't have any siblings?" The doe asked.
"No," the former Knight of Cerinia answered, "but Krystal did. She had an older sister, Jewel, and a younger brother, Beryl. Sadly, they weren't really as comforting as her mother, Estelle. Her father, on the other hand, was a nasty piece of work. It's a miracle a girl as sweet as Krystal came from a man like Opal Bodimead. He made her life a living hell by hitting her and yelling at her for asinine reasons."
"Should I care?" Maria asked.
"Well, I think that you're -" Randorn began to speak until Bill burst into the room.
"Bill, what's wrong?" Sabre asked.
"Bloodscourge escaped jail again!" The Cornerian soldier cried, "I don't get it, we put him under maximum security!"
"Did someone bail him out?" Randorn asked.
"No, but his cell was empty with a hole in the wall!" The dog stated, "General Pepper says that someone might have broken him out! He's going to call Star Fox and see if they can find him!"
"Until then, we'll deliver Maria to Mr. DiMaggio." Sabre spoke.
"And ask him some questions." Randorn added.
"You guys might be making a big mistake!" Maria warned.
"How are we gonna get to him?" Bill spoke, "He's miles away from us!"
"I'll use a transportation spell to get us to him." Randorn's hands glowed blue.
"Good idea!" Bill said.
"Let's do this!" Sabre yelled.
After a few magic words, Randorn surrounded the group in a blue light that teleported them out of the room. The spell was going to take them to DiMaggio, where they would do two things: turn in Maria Fairweather and ask some questions in order to clear his name in being involved in the death of the Fairweather family, sans Maria.
Note: Now that the bounty hunter's identity is revealed, how do you guys feel about her? She's inspired by Lexi Bunny in terms of appearance. Come to think of it, is there a Loonatics Unleashed crossover that shows them hanging out with Star Fox? If so, that would be interesting. What did you guys think about this chapter? Let me know when you leave a review or give a constructive criticism. Until next time guys, peace!
