We stepped onto the beaches that were just after Cyllage City, I decided it was best to walk during the night, so the scorching sand wouldn't be rough on my Pokemon's feet. While Ruby and Volpsei could've easily handled hot sand, Oasis could've floated over it, Snowy isn't a fire type, and she couldn't float. The moonlight shining down on the ocean was a sight I could see all the time in Alola, so seeing it in Kalos was a treat. It was quite peaceful.

We walked under a large archway, which was connected to the large cliffs above. The night was at the perfect temperature, being the Ice-Type I was, I welcomed how much cooler it was. While we walked along, Volpsei was playing fairly close to the shore, "be careful Volpsei," I told him, "got it Mom!" He ran up to me and jumped up at me, "race you to that rock!" I grinned, and lowered myself down as he. counted down.

I kept a low Ember in my mouth, and kept my jaw open, which provides us a bit more vision in the dark. Davaid patted me on the head, "if you want I could just take out a flashlight. It might tire you out if you keep that Ember up," he whipped out a flashlight, I shook my head, while I was glad that he was concerned, if a Houndour couldn't hold an Ember for hours on end, its pack would either abandon it, or execute it. I was lucky with only being kicked out of my pack… I whimpered at the thought of them.

Ruby's whimper did not go unnoticed, I could tell she wasn't getting tired from holding that Ember of hers for so long, so something other than fatigue made her whine. I stopped walking after we reached the rock Snowy and Volpsei raced to, "guys, let's take a break," I pulled out a lantern, "hey Volpsei, give me the best Ember you've got, and aim it inside this lantern for me," he nodded, before shooting an attack into the lantern, lighting it.

I settled the lantern on the ground, while I know Ruby easily would've lit the lantern, it was best for Volpsei to practice his attacks. I sat in front of Ruby, who was laying down and not facing anyone. She turned her back to me, and tuned down her whimpering, which even caught Snowy's attention. I patted her back, "Ruby tell Snowy what's wrong, and Snowy, can you translate for me?" She nodded.

"C'mon Ruby, we can't help you if you don't tell us what's wrong," I told her, making her face me with telekinesis. She tried turning around again, only to give in and tell me what was bothering her, "I miss my old pack, they may have abandoned me, but I still miss them," I translated Davaid, who quickly wrapped his arms around her. I ran in to help her in any way I could.

Davaid pulled me into a hug to try and comfort me, "hey girl…" I could tell he didn't know exactly how to handle my current problem. He just hugged me tightly, and this is his best way to comfort me. He rubbed my back while I cried into his shoulder, I hated that I was crying, it made me appear weak. Snowy wrapped her tails around me to comfort me even more, in fact, everyone was doing their best to comfort me, Volpsei was trying to lick my tears away, and Oasis patted my back with her tail fin.

I definitely didn't know how to handle this situation, Ruby obviously missed her old pack, and I was afraid I might say something that would make it even worse for her. Eventually she did stop crying, I kept rocking her back and forth until I knew she was feeling a bit better. From this point forth, I know I can't truly replace Ruby's pack, but I was going to do my best to be there for her like a family should.

Davaid rockin me back and forth made me sleepy, along with all the crying, but it did make me feel better. I rested my head on Davaid's shoulder, the past is the past, and this was my new pack. My trainer started scratching the side of my head, trying to wipe any tears off of my face, he was my family now, "I'll always be here for you whenever you need a hand," he whispered to me, still being rocked back and forth in his arms. It felt just like home, I began dozing off in his arms.

I began smiling after she fell asleep in Davaid's arms, it meant she was at least feeling better. I rubbed my head against her sleeping form, while Davaid covered her eyes with his hand from the lantern, "hey Snowy, can you put the lantern out? I think here is a good resting spot for us all." the Ninetales nodded, before doing what was asked. This time, instead of us all cuddling with Davaid, we all cuddled up with Ruby.

I didn't exactly know why Ruby was crying, but I did know she needed help in any form. I didn't understand a lot of things, so I did what I knew best, which was licking her face, I washed her face of any tears, before curling up with her. I normally cuddled up with Mom or Davaid, but Ruby needed the company, and I was going to provide that company. I licked her sleeping head, before laying my head on her shoulder.

I woke up feeling much better than I did yesterday, everyone was piled up on me, from my trainer all the way to Oasis. The only thing was, Davaid looked like he'd been up all night, and he was rubbing my cheeks, "good morning girl," I reached over to lick the bags under his eyes, "hey now, don't worry about me being tired, how are you feeling now?" I flashed him a quick grin, "Ruby, if you ever need help, or just need a shoulder to cry into, let me or Snowy know. We're here for you," he got closer and kissed me on the forehead again! He then snuggled up, laying his head on my side, and started snoring.

I chuckled at my trainer, even though he had needs and problems of his own, and yet he still tries to help me out with any problems I have. I first reached down and licked Volpsei's head, he was cuddled up on my shoulder, which warmed my heart to its very core. I rested my head, so my jaw would be on the top of his head, and started sleeping in with him and my pack on the beach's warm sand. I sighed in content, before snuggling deeper into the dogpile.

I have changed the Story's name to the name of my original Pokemon story(Burning Bond in case you're curious, it's down now as it kinda sucked) which had a fairly similar set up to this story. I sorta thought of this story as "Burning Bond V2."
