I slowly stumbled out of the cave… I was much bigger than I was several months ago.. I could feel the energy flowing through my body even faster than before. I sighed, the memories of what my mother and siblings were like are fading with every passing day. I already forgot what the Alpha of the Lycanroc, and I was all alone this time.

I quickly pounced on my prey, I snapped its neck, and dug in. I needed to keep moving, if I stayed in one spot for too long, a Pokemon Trainer, or even worse, a poacher might find me. I quickly finished my meal before hiding in the bushes, "looks like it thinks it's smart," said a man, he was holding a net, wearing gloves, and was being flanked by a Houndoom. He pointed his rifle at me then loaded the net into it. I turned tail and started running, I hated not being strong enough to fight back against humans, humans have only been trouble. If that human didn't have a weapon and another Pokemon helping him, he'd be dead where he stood.

I looped around constantly throughout the night, hoping it'd get him off my trail. By the time I had stopped running, dusk, I had run all day just so I wouldn't be captured. I was going to such lengths to just avoid humans all together.

I was panting, I had finally got the Poacher off my trail, out of pure anger and hatred, I started glowing, the energy in my veins began to explode, I was so mad, I wanted to go back and kill that hunter. I knew that was suicide, he had. Fully grown Houndoom, and on top of that, he had a gun. There was no chance I could fight back, I may have evolved shortly after fleeing the last group of hunters that had chased me, but I couldn't fight a human.

I took a deep sigh, I was so exxcited to evolve back then, the thought of being able to defend myself seeemed nice. Now it seems like nothing had changed. I heard footsteps, a female human was walking along, holding the hand of an adolescent, the handle for a bag was in her other hand, and they were flanked by a weird Ninetales, instead of the golden fur they usually had, it was snow white. She had her eyes on the exact spot I was standing, "what is it girl?" asked the younger human, she stepped ahead of him, got up on her hind legs, and rubbed her head against his.

I almost felt jealous, that Ninetales was having the time of her life, not having to fight to survive each day. No human would try hurting her, given she was a human's pet, but there was one thing I didn't envy. She had no freedom, she had to follow her human's orders, and yet she still looked happy. The boy patted her on the head, "Davaid, could you help me with the luggage? "Got it mom!" The trio slowly started to make their way out of view.

I so badly wanted to jump out and kill all three of them, but that Ninetales knew I was here, but didn't give away my location. It didn't seem like they were going to try anything against me too, so I decided to give them a bit of mercy, "now c'mon dear, Vaniville Town can't be too far away," she urged her child along. He nodded, before kicking up the pace.

I sighed in relief, they weren't trainers or poachers at least, "there she is!" yelled the poacher from earlier… had he seriously been following me this entire time? I turned to face him, but was immediately pinned down by his Houndoom, "just hold still, and this'll be short and painless," warned the Houndoom. He was a disgrace to even be called a Houndoom, he was following a human's orders to capture his own kind! I j jerked my head forward, and I latched onto his throat.

The taste of blood filled my mouth, I jerked my head back, and he stumbled off of me, struggling for air, not longer after he fell over. The Houndoom was dead, "why you little- you're going to pay for this!" he ran off, leaving his partner behind. Whatever he was going to do next, I didn't care, he couldn't do anything with his slave to help him out. I found a hollowed out log not too far away from where I had killed the man's Houndoom. I was grinning, I now knew I could've easily taken on that Ninetales, and claim more than just that Houndoom's death.

It has been a year since I've last seen that hunter, I assumed he either gave up on trying, or completely forgot about me. It didn't matter, he wasn't here trying to kill or kidnap him. I stepped out of my hollow log and began to stretch. I smelled an easy meal, so I went to investigate it. Out in the open was a piece of meat, but it wasn't just a piece of meat, the meat was rotten, and it was a trap.

The trap couldn't be anymore obvious, I've seen hunters use these on Ursaring in the past, and whoever had set up the trap didn't even try hiding it. It was just a piece of meat on a bear trap… I quickly grabbed the meat, and jumped back, only to feel something bite down on my leg. I howled in pain, and nearly shot a Flamethrower on accident. I looked back at my hind legs, my left leg was completely fine, but my right one was caught in a bear trap. My heart dropped, it would only be a matter of time until a human came by to finish me off.

I smelled a human behind me, I was done for, it had bumped behind me, and we both jumped a bit. I started growling, I was ready to kill him, and he looked like he was scared to death. We stared at each other, I wasn't lowering my guard no matter what, the human raised his hands, "woah there, I'm just going to help you out," he said. That shocked me, for once a human was trying to help me!

The human did exactly what he said he was going to do, my leg was free, but it still hurt a lot, "how about we also get that leg check out huh?" I expected him to catch me by this point, but instead he just picked me up, and carried me out of the forest. This human took what I once thought humans were, and flipped it on its head, I stared at him as he carried me.

I carried this injured Houndoom out of Santalune Forest, she had been keeping her eyes on me ever since I helped her out of that trap. I'm honestly shocked she was all the way out here, in Kalos you could only find Houndoom and Houndour on Route 10. Which was on the other side of the region, and she was in Santalune Forest of all places! That didn't matter right now, she needed medical attention, and while her leg didn't look broken. I wasn't an expert on Pokemon Anatomy. I started running even faster when I saw Santalune City in sight.

Later that night I actually cuddled up with this Human, who's name was Davaid, and I actually became his Pokemon! Once again my life was starting to get better, while I might have to spend all day in a Pokeball, it's certainly better than worrying about hunters all the time. If you had told me I was going to be friends with a human when I was just a pup, I wouldn't have believed you. Now I was in the arms of a human, and actually enjoying said human's company.
