We stepped into a new city, this wasn't a new city at all! This was Lumiose City again! I guess it did make sense for most routes to funnel back into the biggest city in the region. An idea popped into my mind, "hey guys, remember that Mightyena?: I asked. Volpsei tilted his head, Oasis and Rexy were in their Pokeballs as usual, and Ruby barked. I whipped out the city map once more; we were going to be visiting an old enemy!

After I made a turn down one of the main roads of Lumiose, I was stopped by some guy. His entire attire screamed that he was a scam artist, "hey! How much for that Ninetales and Vulpix of yours?" I already knew why this guy would be after me and Volpsei, Ninetales fur was very valuable, and was usually used in fur coats. Davaid rubbed his chin, "how about you fuck off?" he picked me up, then started walking quickly past him.

Whenever somebody asks if they can buy a Pokemon it makes me sick, they weren't property by any stretch of the imagination. Nobody in their right mind should sell their best friend, so why sell a Pokemon? Volpsei was already on my shoulder as usual, so I held Snowy tightly, and kept moving. It didn't matter if I was rude to that guy, you don't waltz up to a guy, and then ask if you can buy his best friends.

"Wait! Hold up!" Was that guy seriously still following us? If it weren't for the fact we were in a city, and Davaid potentially getting in trouble with the Police again, I would've set him on fire. He ran out in front of us, "if not for those two, how about that Houndoom?" he pointed at me, Davaid clenched his fist, "listen pal, what you're asking is pretty much asking to buy my friends. I'm not selling them for any price, you keep following us, and I'll press charges on ya for harassment," Davaid reached down with his arm, and pulled me a bit closer to him.

I couldn't even blame him for how he pulled me in like that, that human probably would've stolen one of us given the chance. Even if I didn't like being inside a Pokeball all that much, if it is not being taken away from my best friend, then I'd be fine with that. Luckily the weirdo finally got the message, and took to Davaid's words, he "fucked off". After we walked down another block, Davaid put Snowy back on the ground, "it amazes me just how desperate people are to get ahold of a Ninetales' fur."

I nodded, "I get why he would've wanted to buy you, but what would he gain from buying me?" Snowy gestured to my Mega Ring, "those are pretty expensive and rare if you think about it. On top of that; you could then be torn apart by much stronger Pokemon for his entertainment, or be forced to fight to the death for money," she explained to me. That made me shiver a bit, "that doesn't sound fun," I said, before cringing at the thought of being brutally murdered. I also noticed that Snowy was using Telepathy to speak, she probably didn't want to taint Volpsei's innocence with those thoughts.

We stopped outside of a Stone Shop, so I could look at the map. Volpsei jumped down from my shoulders and ran inside the shop, "oh shoot!" I ran in after him. I was surprised he wasn't causing a ruckus inside, he was just staring at a Fire Stone that was on display. I knew what he wanted, and sighed. I simply didn't have the money to spend it willy nilly on Evolution Stones. The shop owner walked up while chuckling to himself, "so your Pokemon wants to evolve eh?" I nodded, "tell me kid, where were you heading before he dragged ya in here?" I shrugged, "I was going to check in with Professor Sycamore, and-, "say no more! If you bring this," he lifted out a set of Evolution Stones: Electric, Fire, Leaf, and Water Stone! "to him, and you can prove you gave it to him, you can keep the Fire Stone! Deal?"

I looked down at Volpsei's eyes, they were shining with wonder as they were locked on the stone, "yeah, I'll do it," he grinned, handing me the case for the set of stones, "be careful with these okay?" I nodded, "hey Volpsei, c'mon! I promise I'll get you that stone later, okay?" he barked, before trotting alongside me. Thankfully the lab was dead ahead from the Stone Shop, a quick delivery shouldn't be too hard.

I was shaking, Davaid made a promise with me, that meant I could be a Ninetales soon! Albeit, I'll be too big to be carried by Davaid all the time, but he carries Mom and Ruby around no problem! I'm sure he could carry me when I evolved! We all trotted along until we stopped outside of a building, there was tons of barking coming from the inside, "and… we're here!"

Professor Sycamore opened the door, and out came a Mightyena, the same one I had helped out a couple of weeks ago! He stopped after he saw I had something in my arms, ah! Davaid, I wasn't expecting you to show up!" I handed him the case for the Evolution Stones, "perfect!" he noticed the note on the top. He grinned, before taking the bose inside.

While the Professor focused on getting his order, I looked down at the Mightyena, his tail wagging like crazy. I knelt down and reached out to pet him. He had healed a lot since I've last seen him, "hey bud," he licked my face, "he's been staring out the window, waiting just to see you again," said Sycamore. I stared down at Mightyena, "really?" he tilted his head, "is something wrong with that?" I shook my head, "I'm just surprised he wanted to see me," Mightyena laid down in my lap after I had said that.

Even if this kid was my enemy when I first met him, he wasn't a bad kid. He just rubbed my back, while I laid on top of him, "greetings," I jumped when I heard his Ninetales speak to me, she sounded like the exact opposite of what I heard when I saw her at first. From a beast from hell, to one of the calmest Pokemon I've met, "hey," she looked me in the eyes, "if you try anything to hurt him, you're not going to like what'll happen to you," hearing her calm, peaceful voice say that sent shivers down my spine. I instinctively tried hiding behind the closet thing near me, which just so happened to be the kid, "hey Davaid, I think you should take him with you!"

I raised my head after the professor said those words, "wait wha?" Mightyena rubbed his head on me, Snowy had gotten close to him earlier, and probably said something to scare the hell out of him. Ever since she got closer to Mightyena, he's been a lot closer to me, "you wanna come along buddy?" he barked at me, and nodded. Professor Sycamore handed me his Pokeball, "take care of him, alright?" I nodded, "well, guess I'll call him…" I had the perfect name for a Mightyena back when I found him in the alleyway. I still had it in my mind, "Axl," he barked again before running circles around me.

Sycamore also handed me a note, "take this to the Stone Shop for me," I grabbed the note and got up off the ground, "well, Volpsei let's get you that fire stone, huh?" that got my little buddy excited. After the short walk back to the shop, I handed the shopkeeper the Professor's note, "looks like that stone's all yours!" he took it out of the display case and handed it to me, "make good use of it, and safe travels!" I nodded, "thank your sir! Have a good day!"

I started shaking, the very thought of what would happen next; I was going to be able to evolve! We stepped out of the store, and Davaid held out the Fire Stone. He stared at it for several, long minutes, and then stared at me for some reason. He lowered the Fire Stone to me, and I touched it. I felt a sudden burst of energy flow through my body, my tails split into nine, and my legs started becoming a lot more slender. I was engulfed in my own energy and was blinded for a solid minute. After that minute I could see as clear as day.

These were the last few moments Volpsei would be a Vulpix, I reached down to pet his head. He'd still be a kit at heart after he evolved, in fact, he is still a kit. I held out the Fire Stone for him, and Volpsei tapped it with his paw. I took a deep breath, it felt oddly satisfying seeing a Pokemon grow and evolve. After he had stopped glowing, he was a Ninetales! He was Kantonian, so he had the white fur that they usually had, which appeared gold when light was shined on it, and he was quite a bit smaller than Snowy.

I started to pet the tuff of fur on his head, "how ya feel, boy?" he barked, he still had baby cheeks, he lowered down and tried playing tug of war with my sleeve. Snowy walked over to him, and gave me a pretty good size comparison, Snowy was still twice Volpsei's size, granted she was much older than him. Everyone, that was out of their Pokeballs at the moment, started congratulating him for evolving… I pulled him closer, and he stole my hat again. I started grinning after he did that, he would always be my favorite little Vulpix at heart, and I hope that wouldn't ever change.
