Ohh a bit short.
BUt then again, There's so much stuff to cover, I'd rather be slightly terse.
Rock promises not to fight round 1
Yag's not gonna enforce anything lmao. He's just ATM.
The remainder of the day had been a blur.
After this morning's interrogation, Rock had run with the rest of the troops about the city. It was a frantic flurry of delivering things, taking deliveries, shuttling the veritable arsenal of firearms Kain had managed to procure with three-year-old contacts. Snooping around with binoculars and noting down guard rotations. Planting - what Rock was fairly sure - were bombs and performing other miscellaneous tasks that weren't explained to him.
We did a lot today…
But from the chatter Rock overheard, and the debriefing Kain had given him earlier, Rock deduced they were preparing an assault on one of Geese's main shipping houses. Kain, who used to be Geese's underboss and second in command - and thereby was privy to all of HCon's secrets - claimed that this particular shipping house was critical in the trade route, and taking it down would cripple Howard Connection's cash flow - at least temporarily.
And that was music to Rock's ears.
Kain Heinlein was a tremendous asset to this operation… in fact, he was the only reason they had a chance at success. Right now - there were three people filling the position Kain used to hold. Rock recognized their names as top ranking executives in Howard Connection. Kain Heinlein was Billy, Big and Hein wrapped into one, and Rock couldn't think of a better person to take down the empire, save the head himself.
But promises and pep-talks could only carry him so far.
And as the sun began to set, and the troop began readying to carry out the operation, Rock retired (under guard) to sleep in the back of the car he'd borrowed from Iori. He was tired. So tired. It'd been about two days since he'd slept and at this point the backseat of the Volkswagen was a welcome sight. As he curled up against the worn black leather, and wrapped the blanket he'd found in the trunk about him, he briefly wondered what in the world he was doing.
Rocky… What's this supposed to accomplish?
He blinked in the murky darkness.
Revenge… Right. Revenge for Adam. The rage still burned within him when he recalled his friend's face to memory. The venom shot through his veins like electricity. It filled him with an energy and resolve he didn't have, then left him exhausted afterwards. He'd been running on fumes for what felt like ages, and needed badly to recharge.
I'm gonna kill Geese…
It was stupid. Rock already knew it… He'd seen the shows. He'd watched enough TV. 'Revenge doesn't fix anything', 'Revenge won't make you feel better', 'Revenge won't bring Adam back', Rock knew all the slogans. He knew it wouldn't ease his aching heart… and he knew it was a ridiculous notion that killing Geese Howard would magically bring his friend back to life, or otherwise put him to rest - whatever that was supposed to mean.
Adam…
But Rock didn't want to feel better.
Rock wasn't here, trying to heal.
No.
He was here to cause that Bastard as much pain as he possibly could.
Kill him
He didn't expect it to make him feel better about Adam… but he did expect to feel a grim satisfaction when Geese tower came tumbling down. The idea didn't make him smile. It didn't even make him happy… He just wanted to destroy that man. He wanted every person who had ever helped Howard Connection to suffer for Adam's sake.
So when 100% of the sudden cash injection Rock had contributed had gone immediately to purchasing scary looking firearms, Rock didn't protest. When Kain sent him to plant explosives with the bomb team, Rock didn't complain. When Kain asked for him to call Iori for a half-million dollar wire, he likewise obeyed.
And now… everything was set up.
And Rock could do nothing but wait…
Curl up on that cold leather seat. Bite his nails in excitement. Wait to hear news of the damage he'd accomplished against the man he hated the most.
Tired as he was, the excitement kept him awake all night long.
Go Go Go!
