Marinette gave Adrien a look that said Are you kidding me?

Adrien raised his hands in defense. "I was never really interested in watching it! I'm sorry!"

Marinette rubbed her hands over her face. She wrote something on the pad of paper, then showed it to Adrien.

What are we gonna do? I can't exactly write the entire movie on here!

Adrien paused in thought. "I have no clue, all I know about this movie is that Ariel was a mermaid." Adrien had a realization. "Wait, does that mean you were a mermaid?"

Marinette rolled her eyes and nodded.

"Awesome!"

They heard a knock on the door and turned around. Adrien called out, "Come in!"

A small girl with blonde hair and colorful highlights came in, and the pair's eyes widened in recognition.

"Hello," the girl curtsied. "I'm Mylene, and I'm here to help Miss... um..."

"Marinette," Adrien offered.

"I'm here to help Miss Marinette get ready for dinner with the royal family," Mylene finished with a smile. She looked at Adrien expectedly.

Adrien got the hint. He looked at Marinette and said, "I'll see you then, I guess."

Marinette waved in response.

Adrien shut the door on his way out, then headed back to the dining hall.

Let's just say, Emilie was very excited to meet Adrien's so-called "friend".

"So, Adrien," she said as he sat down at the table. "Your friend, uh..."

"Marinette," he offered her.

"Your friend Marinette, she's quite cute, wouldn't you say?"

Adrien choked on his water. "W-What?"

"I mean, I think both Gabriel and I saw the look you gave her," she said looking at her husband, who nodded with a curious look on his face.

"What look? Marinette and I are just friends!" Adrien protested, his face growing warm.

"Aw, Gabe, look! He's blushing!" She exclaimed with a warm smile. "Adrien, you know it's okay to have a crush, right?"

Adrien avoided her question, taking a bite of his dinner so he didn't have to reply.

It wasn't completely necessary, though, because the topic of their discussion walked through the doors just then. Before sitting down, she curtsied toward the king and queen (something Mylene had told her to do).

"Welcome, Marinette! We were just talking about you!" Emilie exclaimed, winking at Adrien, who purposefully avoided Marinette's confused gaze. "Now, Adrien's told us you're friends, but we don't know too much about you."

Marinette sent a panicked look at Adrien. It took him a moment, then he realized. "Oh! Marinette... she- uh- can't really talk?" It came out as more of a question.

"Oh? Why not?"Emilie asked.

Oh shoot. "Uhhh... she's mute?" Adrien lied. He saw Marinette giving him a blank look out of the corner of his eye.

There was a bit of silence. Adrien cringed. He didn't think anyone really knew how to respond to his panicked answer.

"That's... nice," Emilie awkwardly said. "Is there any way we could get to know you better then?"

Marinette shot a pointed look at Adrien.

"Well, she's a big fan of designing, to start out with. She's really good at it, too!" Adrien started, racking his brain for things to tell his parents about. "She's a great leader; you should see her when she's in a stressful situation: she handles it really well! Marinette is also super kind to everyone she meets, even if she doesn't like them too much," Adrien said, thinking of Chloe and Lila. "Most importantly, she's a really great friend."

Adrien glanced over to see a very red-in-the-face Marinette. He looked back at his parents, seeing his mom with a sly smile on her face, and his father chuckling to himself quietly.

Had he said something wrong?

"I think it's time for dessert," his father said, then gestured for the servants to bring over the food.

They ate quietly for the rest of the meal. Adrien kept glancing over at Marinette, who avoided his gaze. The blush never quite left her face.

At the end of the meal, Emilie excused Marinette, asking her politely, "Marinette, dear, could you let us talk to Adrien alone, please?" Marinette nodded, then left the dining room with a small wave over her shoulder.

Adrien did not have a good feeling about this.

"Adrien," his mom started. "Are you sure you don't have a crush on her? I mean, the way you describe her-"

"I promise, she's only a good friend of mine," Adrien interrupted. He felt uncomfortable with the topic. He was in love with Ladybug, he didn't have a crush on Marinette!

Did he?

"I don't know, you two seem to act like your mother and I when we were starting to date," Gabriel contributed. "And you know how that went."

Oh goodness, first his mother, now his father?

"We're just saying, Adrien, if you were to pursue a relationship with her, we wouldn't be opposed," his mom said.

Adrien stood up, "Can I be excused?" His father sighed while his mother softly nodded.

Once he had that confirmation, he walked out the door of the dining hall.

He stopped to check in on Marinette, knocking on her door. She immediately opened it, almost like she was waiting for him.

With a focused look on her face, she grabbed his hand and led him through the hallway, down the stairs, and to a nearby lake, where a boat was set up. She took a seat in the small boat, then gestured for him to do the same. When he was seated, she took the oars and started rowing.

Adrien thought he was going crazy. Did he hear music?

It seemed like the lake came alive for this moment. Frogs, birds, fish, and so many more animals seemed to be singing. The water would shoot up occasionally. It all felt very magical.

Adrien was gazing out at the pond when he felt Marinette grab his hand. He looked over at her, seeing her looking at the water shooting up from the pond. She looked over at him, a hint of pink growing on her face.

Marinette closed her eyes and slowly leaned towards him. He started doing the same until he heard a Snap! Snap! Snap! next to him. He jumped, and his reflexes took over. He let go of Marinette's hand and swatted the crab that had jumped onto the boat back into the water.

Marinette gasped as she saw the crab hit the water, looking a little horrified, but then started chuckling, which grew into loud laughter.

Adrien had no clue what she was laughing at. "What's so funny?"

After she calmed down, she took out the pad of paper and quill she had put in her dress's pockets. She wrote something down, then handed it to him.

You haven't seen the movie, it's too hard to explain.

Adrien pouted. That was the most he'd ever seen her laugh (he pushed away the thought that she looked really pretty when she was laughing), so he wanted to know what was so funny to her.

Marinette grabbed the oars and started rowing back to shore. When they were back, Adrien asked her, "What was that all about? Was that something that happened in the movie?"

The bluenette pursed her lips, then started writing. After a minute, she showed him what she had written.

I'm basically under contract not to tell you. You're gonna have to figure it out on your own. We only have one day left.

Adrien reread the letter a few times. One day to figure out what? The blond was incredibly lost, and slightly worried. What would happen if he didn't figure it out?

Marinette sensed his worry and grabbed the pad of paper back. Once she was finished writing, she handed it back to him.

Don't worry too much about it. I trust you enough to know you'll figure it out eventually.

She took his hand and led him back to the castle.

He knew she was trying to calm his nerves, but her words only made him more nervous. He really didn't want to let her down.

Adrien woke up to the sound of knocking on his door.

"Come in!" He called out. Nino opened the door.

"Dude- I mean, sir- there is a visitor here to see you and your parents. They're waiting for you in the Throne Room," Nino said, then left.

A visitor? What was going to happen? He didn't have a very good feeling about this visitor, and he hasn't even met them yet.

Adrien really wished he had bothered to watch the movie when he was younger.

The blond got dressed, then headed over to Marinette's room and knocked on the door. He really wanted her by his side when he met with the visitor.

When she opened the door, she looked like she had just woken up, with her hair all tangled and a half-asleep look on her face. He had to admit: she looked very cute.

She shot him a confused look, to which he responded: "I was told there's a visitor here for me and my parents, and I don't have a good feeling about it. Could... Could you maybe come with me?"

Her eyes widened, then she winced. Marinette nodded, then closed the door so she could get ready.

He only had to wait for a few minutes until she came out with a simple dress on and her hair nearly put up in a bun. She handed him a piece of paper she had written on before she started heading toward the direction of the Throne Room.

Whatever you do, don't listen to anything she says.

Adrien's worry increased. Was something going to happen to them? He took a deep, shaky breath, then followed after Marinette.

Marinette and Adrien came down the stairs with their arms linked, surprising the people waiting for them.

Emilie nudged her husband with her elbow, whispering to him excitedly. Marinette saw this and sent Adrien a questioning look. Adrien just shook his head.

They took their place next to the queen and king. In front of them a girl curtsied, and when she looked up, Adrien and Marinette's faces both frowned.

Lila.

"Mother, father, why is she here?" Adrien asked his parents.

"What is with you tone Adrien? Miss Lila is a fantastic person," his mother replied. Adrien frowned at her voice; it sounded a little robotic.

"Now that everyone is here," Lila began. "I would like to ask permission to marry the prince. I think we would make a lovely couple together."

Adrien started to turn her down, but she grabbed his hands. A wave of fatigue hit him, and he found he couldn't control his words. He heard himself say, "I agree."

Lila shot Marinette a wicked grin. "Fantastic! I think the wedding should be tonight! Are there any objections?"

Marinette opened her mouth to protest, but closed it after she remembered her lack of voice. Instead, she glared at Lila.

"I think that's a wonderful idea," his father said, in the same robotic tone that him and his mother had spoken in.

"Come, let us start planning," his mother said. Adrien started following the group against his will.

Lila linked her arm through his as they walked. "Don't worry, Adrien. I know we'll be perfect together."

Adrien didn't know how, but Lila had put a spell on his whole family.

He only hoped Marinette would be able to come up with a plan to save them.

Adrien stood waiting at the alter as Lila made her way down the aisle in a white gown. He looked over at the first row of chairs, where his parents sat with proud looks on their faces, and Marinette sat next to them, looking to be deep in thought.

Come on Marinette, he thought. You can figure something out, I know you can!

Lila held his hands as she repeated the words the minister said. Adrien felt himself do the same.

The minister looked into the crowd. "To those who have any objections, speak now or forever hold your peace."

"Well, of course no one has any objections," Lila said, "so just declare us husband and wife already!"

Marinette suddenly stood up, her arm raised. Lila glared at her. The bluenette ignored the other girl, and ran up in front of Adrien, forcing Lila's hands out of his.

Marinette cupped Adrien's face in her hands, then brought their mouths together in a kiss. Adrien heard Lila screaming in frustration in the background, but couldn't bring himself to care.

As soon as he regained control of his body, he wrapped Marinette in a hug as they continued their kiss. Marinette pulled away to catch her breath, then smiled warmly up at Adrien, and Adrien found himself smiling back.

"You did it," he said. "You saved me!"

"I did!" Marinette replied.

Adrien's smile widened at the sound of her voice. He wrapped her in a hug once more as a light blue light surrounded them once more.

Hope you enjoyed this chapter! While I do have a few more fairy tales planned out, they're mostly ones I need later on in the story for plot reasons. If you have any fairy tales you'd like to see Marinette and Adrien live through, leave a comment and I'll see what I can do!

Also, don't expect too many chapters all at once, even though that's what's happened for the past few days. The amount of times I upload will completely depend on how busy I am/how much inspiration I have. I might try to have a weekly schedule for this story since I have a few ideas, but if that will actually happen, and what day chapters will be posted on: I have no clue.

Anyways, hope you enjoyed the story!
