I sat down in front of the video phone to make a quick phone, "hello?" said my mother, "hey Mom," I waved at her, "so, how are the gym badges coming along?" she pulled out her scarf, "I've got all eight of them," she said with a grin. Snowy started shaking, then climbed up on my lap, "hey Snowy, are you taking care of Davaid?" Snowy barked into the phone. I chuckled, "I think Snowy's already pumped up for the Pokemon League," I said while petting the back of her head, "I can see that, we're going to give it our all, in about a month," she pulled out a calendar from her hotel room, "in a month on this exact day, the opening ceremony is going to start in Lumiose, which is where I am waiting."
Snowy climbed off my lap, "so, Davaid, how is your journey going?" I shrugged, "we made it to Anistar City," all of a sudden Zacian climbed up on my lap, crushed it, and the chair I was sitting on, "oof!" I grunted while Zacian turned to face the video phone. Mom started laughing her head off, "I see you've got a new Pokemon," not long after Zacian got off of me, then licked my face and whined, "you're alright Zacian, you didn't break anything other than the chair…" Nurse Joy walked over, then picked up one of the pieces of said chair.
She looked them over and shrugged, "well, we were looking to replace this one anyways," she patted Zacian on the head, "she doesn't know her own size does she?" I did a "sorta" sign with my hand, "she knows she's big, she just loves jumping on my lap despite that," I hugged Zacian's head, "big ol' goofball," I said jokingly, which elicited a lick on the face, "well, guess you'll have to stand for the rest of your call for the time being, and don't worry about covering the cost. We wanted to throw this thing out for a while now," Nurse Joy called over a Chansey, who grabbed a couple pieces of the chair, and I pitched in a hand.
After I helped carry out the broken chair, I walked back over to the video phone, "sorry about making you wait Mom," she dismissed that, "now, let me see Ruby, I've heard she had helped take down a rogue Charizard on the news while you were out," I knelt down, then lifted Ruby up to the camera. I held the earpiece up to her head, "hey Ruby, is Davaid treating you well?" Ruby looked at my Mom like she was dumb, Mom let out a hardy laughed, "I figured you'd respond like that, if he didn't take care of you well, you'd probably just him on fire!" I scratched the back of my head, that was an actual possibility.
I stared at Ruby while Mom kept talking to her, what if I did slip up, and snap at her? What if I snapped at any of my Pokemon? I patted her back while Mom complimented her, "Davaid, is something wrong?" Mom asked, "oh, it's nothing really," Snowy and Mom looked at me, they knew I just spat out bullshit, "Davaid Hyles, you tell me right now what's wrong, or I'm going to have Snowy tickle you to death," I sighed, "I'm mostly afraid of accidentally snapping at Ruby or any other Pokemon I'm traveling with," Ruby jumped out of my arms while Snowy jumped on my back, "Davaid, your Pokemon love you, you know that right?"
I nodded, "Pokemon can easily tell how you are feeling right now, if they sense you're angry, they're going to try their hardest to calm you down. Even if you snap, they'll know why you did," Snowy then laid her head on top of mine while she was still on my back, "Davaid, we won't ever get mad at you," Ruby then jumped up and licked my face, "now young man, don't you think about the possibilities of what you might do," I started to finally smile as Snowy started licking my ear, "now, just enjoy your time with your Pokemon, okay?" I nodded, "I will!" I said before reaching back, and grabbing Snowy, and held her like a baby, "hey! I'm older than you are!" she barked a couple of times while Mom laughed.
After we said our goodbyes, I hung up, then kept on walking with Snowy in my arms. We already had our supplies restocked, so there wasn't much else to do, "you guys just want to hit the road again, and make our way back to Lumiose?" they all nodded, so I grabbed my bag with one arm, and strapped it over my shoulder. Snowy started glaring at me, "c'mon Davaid, I know you see me as an older sibling, so stop treating me like a baby!" she started pouting. I chucked and started petting her belly on the way out. She sighed, "you also know how to win me over," I laughed, and finally put her on the ground.
Snowy shook herself off, Volpsei was very quick to jump in my arms shortly afterwards, "whoa boy!" I said after stumbling a bit. The Ninetales barked while I regained my balance, his tails were wagging like crazy, and started licking my face. Snowy chuckled, "he's just an overgrown puppy," after a few minutes of squirming in my arms, he finally settled to being carried just like how I had carried Snowy moments earlier. I chucked while I caressed his cheek, "you're a crazy little Ninetales, aren't ya Volpsei?" he barked again, "and you're really cute," I said while I held his head closer to my face.
Davaid and his Pokemon started walking around Anistar while trying to find the route they came from, "whoa there!" he looked around and saw a weird guy in a red suit. It had the Team Flare badge on it, he was trying to steal some kid's Pokemon, "Snowy, can you knock that guy out for me?" Snowy used her telekinesis to lift the Poochyena in his arms into the air. Before Snowy could do anything, Axl pounced on the Team Flare Grunt, used Dark Pulse on him, and knocked him out in one fell swoop. He looked pissed off, Volpsei jumped out of my arms.
Snowy put the Poochyena on the ground, Axl was quick to sniff the little guy for injuries, "thank you sir for saving my Pokemon!" said a young boy who ran into to check on his Poochyena. I chuckled while Axl kept searching every strand of fur on the Pokemon before being satisfied. The boy patted Axl on the head, then reached over to Snowy, who gladly let the kid pet her. The Poochyena yipped and barked, jumped in the kid's arms, and started wagging its tail, "stay safe kid," I waved.
After the kid ran off, I knelt down in front of Axl, and held his head still with my hands. I stared him dead in the eyes, "I've never seen you that angry before, not even while you were about to rip my head off," I said while petting him, "I know you were one of Team Flare's Pokemon, so what did they do to you to make ya that mad?" he looked away, "ya don't wanna say, huh?" I pulled him onto my lap, then started to rub the side of his head. Snowy put a paw on the Mightyena's back, then the two started having a conversation I couldn't understand.
"Did they treat you poorly while you were under their care?" Mightyena nodded, "care would be a nice way of putting it. They'd beat you within an inch of your life if you messed up, fed you the bare minimum unless you fought for their amusement, or they'd shoot you if you were weak," he said calmly. He sighed, "the only person in that base that had a slither of decency in them was an admin who raised me from a Poochyena," he took a deep breath. I put my paw on his shoulder, "wait, how old even are you?""
"I'm about what? 18, 19 months old, why do you ask?" I tilted my head while SNowy just looked shocked, "you're still a pup, aren't you?" I nodded. Snowy looked shocked beyond belief, "you've got to be kidding me," I shook my head. Snowy stared right into Davaid's eyes, and his eyes widened, "holy shit," he held me closer to him, "Axl, I'm going to give you the puppyhood you deserve so badly." he rubbed the back of my head while I started to sleep on his shoulder.
