Turned out, planning a wedding was hell.

Eric Beale found that piece of information out soon enough.

Despite many complaints of his sister a few years prior when she was planning her own wedding, he didn't want to believe it. It was all about marrying the right person who you'll love till the end of time, right?

Wrong.

Very wrong.

Apparently things like what kind of white the tablecloths should be, and what flavored of cake the boys preferred also mattered. Don't forget about the candles, because maybe someone will notice how they don't match the flowers on the dinner table, now that would be a disaster right? The invitation luckily were already send to everybody, and almost everyone confirmed if they were coming or not, so Eric didn't have to worry about that as much anymore. That only left more time to worry about all the other important details though.

Well, at least neither of the two grooms had to worry about finding the right dress.

To simply put it, Eric was slowly losing his mind over all the planning.

There was so much left to do, and a mere 5 months and counting until the big day. The blonde had to admit, when he imagined planning his wedding at the age of 5 years old, he didn't imagine this much stress with it. While the engagement stage had been lovely, Eric was ready to get this wedding over with and be able to call Brian his husband.

Husband. It still felt very surreal to the man that this was all happening, let alone that Brian was finally his again. After their break-up, Eric was afraid he'd post Brian forever. Depression had set in, and the blonde was unable to pull any breaks as he found himself spiraling down. For the following months he'd felt like he was moving on auto pilot. When asked to describe his feelings, he wouldn't know, his emotions had shut down and numbness was the only thing he could really feel. So when Brian and him slowly reconnected again, he couldn't have been more grateful for the second chance he'd been handed. Of course all he'd wanted for the brunet was to call him his boyfriend again, but for the past years best friend had been enough. For outstanders it was obvious how much they longed for the other, but both chose the happiness of the other over their own. Luckily, Jessica did notice that detail, and their mutual friend moved heaven and earth to get their heads out of their asses. And finally, after years of feeling incomplete, they were reunited in the way they were always meant to be.

No, Eric wasn't worried about making the right decision, it was more the stress surrounding the wedding that caught up with him.

So after more than one fail at choosing the right decor for on the dinner tables, Eric decided to call in some help from experts.

"Say no more, Laurel and I will be on our way soon." Katherin sounded almost determined to help him out, and in that very moment Eric couldn't have been more relieved. Although, he was sure that wouldn't occur many times around his sister. "Isn't this something you should discuss with Brian though?"

"You're a savior, and no, he left the flowers, candles and some more small stuff up to me. He clearly expects me to know his taste." Eric sighed. Thoughts of what the right shade for the flowers was had been haunting his mind for the past hour, and for the love of god he couldn't figure it out on his own.

"Well, don't worry no longer. We're getting into the car now." And with that, Katherin hung up the phone.

So it didn't take much longer than the blink of an eye for the women to be settled on Eric's couch, a steaming hot cup of tea warming their cold hands. One woman seated on either side of him, Eric laid out the binder him and Brian had made on the coffee table.

"I actually already decided on the bouquets. Those will exist out of a mix of roses and daisies, Brian gave me those on our first real date, so it's only fitting." He explained his plan, and went on as neither woman spoke up, taking their silence as an agreement. "By the way I have no idea why I'm making such a big deal about this, it's not anyone will notice such a stupid detail, will they? Anyway, the colors of the candles standing next to the flowers on each table is where I'm stuck at. I want at least 2 candles on each table, but they need to match the flowers, it'll look beautiful when we light them up when it gets darker outside. So, dark gray or a softer tone of gray?"

As he went on with his explanation, the puzzles pieces in Katherin's head finally found their places when she listened to him. A few minutes before, she'd already figured out Eric was getting overly stressed out about planning the big day. But she'd guessed he wanted a second opinion on his choices, the perfectionist Eric could be sometimes. Although now, she saw right through his acting.

Eric desperately wanted their opinions on the matching colors, but not because he valued them so much. It was because he himself couldn't see them.

After coming to terms with her brother's real intention, she also realized why he couldn't just ask Brian. Even though not one person had debated his choices the past few years, a part of Eric was still embarrassed and worried to come off as stupid to ask these questions. Brian and him were on the verge of tying the knot, it still felt silly to him to discuss color related things. So, before answering his question, Kat decided to shoot Brian a text about his insecurities after their visit.

"The software gray will look better, the red and yellow of the flowers will make more of a statement." Unnoticed to Eric, Kat shot her wife a knowing look, and saw the puzzle fall into place in her mind as well.

"Thank you! See, I almost picked the warmer tone instead. Almost freaking jinxed the entire day." The man tried to play it off as a joke, something he's done since he can remember, but Kat saw right through his façade. His anxiety probably shot through the ceiling already, so for once Kat decided to let her snarly comments about it slide.

Hours pasted by without either of them noticing, and before they knew keys turning the lock could be heard through the apartment. Brian was home, after a long and tiring day at the hospital, and couldn't wait to hop in the shower.

"Well, I'm glad we could be of assistance, but we gotta move now. Kat has an important meeting early in the morning, and I probably don't have to tell you how grumpy she gets when her beauty sleep is cut short." Laurel chuckled as she handed her wife her coat, pulling her scarf tight around her neck so they wouldn't catch a cold.

"Text us when you get home, alright? Car accidents were on the first place of our top 10 today, no need for you guys to get into your own. Wouldn't want to meet you in the ER next time I see you." Brian winked and went to give both of his soon to be sister-in-law's a hug. On his way to the stairs he placed a kiss on Eric's lips and whispered a soft; 'I'll see you later, sweetheart, gonna catch a shower first.' before he went up the flight of stairs.

After waving their goodbye's to Eric as well, they started moving, and he saw their car slowly drive away from his house. Eric closed the door, and made a beeline for the couch again, dropping his exhausted body on the soft cushion. All the worrying and anxiety had drained his body from any energy he might have had this morning. Faintly soft singing could be heard in the distance, and Eric smiled as he recognized his fiance's beautiful voice. With the angelic like singing in the background, Eric had a hard time keeping his eyes open. So giving up on fighting sleep, he let Brian's voice lull him to sleep.

Even though Eric had underestimated planning a wedding horribly, he couldn't wait to be married to the love of his life.
