Kain talks to himself

"Where's the kid?"

"Locked himself in his car. Shaken from the last conflict. He doesn't belong here… Why do we have him?"

At that, Kain shrugged and chuckled. He was standing in the warehouse doorway speaking to the head of the mercenary squad he hired. Their group had just returned from the recent (successful) firebombing of Gustav Hein's Law offices, and Kain estimated the bodycount to be approximately thirty, with no casualties of their own.

They didn't expect any. This crew knew what they were doing. The mercenary group (plus one very upset Rock Howard) swept in - shot everything that moved, and planted the explosives throughout the building. Once everybody cleared. Kain remained behind.

He had personally checked that his main target - Gustav Hein - was dead (he was: shot twice in the chest, and once in the head). He took a few photos, then personally ignited the various bombs mounted throughout the office floor to blast everything to dust. All survivors disintegrated. Any useful documents were reduced to nothing. Nothing but the booming in his ears, and the licking of blue flames at his heels.

That was Kain's favorite part, walking through the explosion, wreathed in his own flames like a vengeful angel treading the earth. The smell of smoke. The cries of the dying. Watching things wither beneath the heat and force of explosion… simply addicting.

Over the years this little indulgence had earned him a nickname he had grown quite fond of: 'The prince of destruction'... some people opted with 'Lunatic psychopath' instead. Something that irked Kain to no end...

In any case, they had completed the mission smoothly. Gustav Hein, the head of HCon's Legal department, was dead alongside anyone who could continue his business. Kain's intention was to strip HCon of all of it's legal defenses in one fell swoop, for doing so would put Geese under increased pressure from whoever was investigating the CIA agent murders. Without legal working for them and shielding them from excessive government investigation, Geese would either be forced to submit and allow himself to be investigated to the full extent of the law (and ideally end up in jail), or go to war with the US Government (which would ideally end in his death).

Both options meant the destruction of HCon. Kain felt confident had succeeded in setting up Geese Howard for failure… now it was just a matter of seeing things through. Perhaps… perhaps I need research my unknown allies...

Because Kain knew as well as anyone that the only reason his vigilante operation had lasted this long, was because HCon's security arm was occupied fighting a war on other fronts. If Billy Kane's Security arm wasn't divided among several threats, they would have come down full force and destroyed Kain's group already. That in itself was already evidence somebody new was moving against HCon… because Geese wasn't stupid enough to try to fight federal agents with his security, and so far, the Police investigation had been dealt with through legal means (until now), yet Billy Kane was still split between searching for Kain's group and somebody else.

Is it the remains of North American NESTS? Or maybe the Triads came across the sea...

Of course, Kain had been betting on this. He knew Geese had many enemies, and he knew how desperately they wanted a share of (arguably) the world's wealthiest 'business' constituency. The anonymous informational tip which had initially stirred Kain to action against Geese, promised more than just federal meddling and a CIA investigation. It also indicated Geese Howard's enemies, smelling weakness, would certainly be stirred up against him.

That was the reason Kain was using his most flashy and ridiculous bombs. He needed the entire underworld to catch wind of this. He wanted Geese's business partners to withdraw support. He wanted Geese's enemies to pick up arms. He wanted Geese's disgruntled employees to turn.

I hope the Yagami clan is moving in our favor… Cali likely won't act, but as long as they don't help - we should be fine…

That was also the reason Kain had chosen Rock Howard as a scapegoat. Because many of the worldwide gang organizations were crime families, they saw the blood-link to be the strongest of bonds. If Geese Howard's very own biological son had scorned that bond and turned against HCon to the point where the boy was the face of these attacks, then surely that was a sign of tremendous instability.

And at least somebody had seen that instability and taken action.

Who that 'somebody' was, Kain didn't know - and frankly, he didn't much care. As long as they sucked enough resources from the security arm for him to finish crippling HCon from the inside out, Kain was happy. He had already managed to temporarily halt cash flow. The next step was to disable Geese's legal force. The third? Take down the headquarters.

"I fear the boy will lose his nerve and flip. I recommend he stays back for the last operation. I don't want the liability."

The Mercenary group leader spoke gruffly and monotonously. It was clear from his demeanor that he was ex-military, and made his suggestion like a demand. Kain shook his head.

"Believe me, he's necessary. Take his phone. Watch him night and day. Handcuff him to one of your associates. Rough him up... I don't care - as long as he participates in the missions."

The Mercenary narrowed his eyes.

"Rough him up? Is he not family?"

Kain scoffed.

"Family? Hardly. Do whatever you need to do, Captain. Two days, and we hit Geese Tower."

I wanna fish Yag out from teh ocean. things are such a slog without him :(

my bby where are you?
btw that's who Billy is busy with lmao. Unfortunatley Yagami clan isn't really gonna be helping Kain at this point
