I don't own Naruto okay? I know it's been awhile since I updated this one but since I have more time, I am working on polishing off some of my fics. This one may not be very long but I just wanted to get a few good ItaKon stories out there as there is so few. I am also working on my other one Between Love and Apathy but the ideas are slow on that one at the moment. So I will work on the fluff as fluff can be easier to work on sometimes. But anyway, enough of this A/N, on with the fic!

"Havefun with Doctor Konan, Daddy!" Akari waved as Itachi left Shisui's house.

"Yes bro!" Shisui waved back. "And if you have a lot of fun, I won't mind keeping Akari here overnight."

"That sounds awesome!" Akari said. "Can I?"

"I don't think it will go that far." Itachi said. "And can you act a little more adult?"

"Sorry Itachi, I have to give you a hard time. It's what big brothers do, even if I am not your actual brother." Shisui said. Itachi rolled his eyes and turned back to Konan who was waiting in the driveway for him. He offered her his hand. "I'm sorry for the delay. Shisui does act childish sometimes."

"He seems to mean well." Konan said. "So where are you taking me tonight?"

"This little tea shop on the other side of town." Itachi said. "It's rather quiet but has some of the best dango I have had in a long time."

"Sounds great." Konan said as she walked along with him on her side. The sun was beginning to set and she felt a cool breeze as some leaves blew along the pathway. She did not have much trouble talking to Itachi before this, but it was now a different situation and it seemed like she might say something wrong to make him mad. I know him pretty well from having to look after his daughter, but I don't want to upset him either... she thought as she looked at Itachi. He was a few years younger than her but he seemed to be wise beyond his years. I guess being the clan head at his age did make him more mature. And he is rather hurt. Losing Izumi did a lot to him.

Itachi walked along holding onto Konan with a nervous smile. He felt like he was a teenager again. When he was younger, he had many of the girls of Konoha who had followed him everywhere with dreamy eyes. He knew he could have any woman he wanted with his looks and money but he had chosen Izumi. She saw him more than his looks and cared about him as a person rather than Itachi the handsome Uchiha clan head. Konan did not grow up in Konoha and knew him as her employer who hired her to take care of his daughter when she had an illness. They had turned a corner and came to the tea shop.

"Hello Uchiha-san." The waitress said with a bow as he came into the restaurant. "I see you have a lady friend with you today."

"Yes I do." Itachi said. "I would appreciate two of my usual to get us started."

"Right away Uchiha-san." She said as she headed into the kitchen to start on the order. "You may sit at your usual spot."

Itachi led Konan to a corner table that faced out over the window. Itachi pulled out a chair for her and motioned for her to sit down. She smiled and looked at him as he sat down. He looked at her and the view of the sunset through the window as birds chirped nearby. Konan the spoke up, "So, you come here a lot?"

"Yes." Itachi said. "I found their dango is pretty good and the tea brewed perfectly. Also it's nice, quiet and has a great view. It's a great place to just relax and let the stresses of the day and life just sink away with the sunset."

Konan smiled. "You must be busy as the clan head." While they had gone over things like this in their daily conversations while she was treating Akari, this seemed like a totally different setting one where they weren't doctor and patient's father but Itachi and Konan.

"Yes." Itachi sighed. "It is busy managing all the clan business and dealings and being the first born male of the main line, it had fallen to me. And it will fall to Akari one day too. I just hope the village doesn't do any more dirty deals like they have done before and did recently." Konan looked on sympathetically. "Akari can do anything she wants to do. She is a brilliant young girl and does well in school. She wants to be a veterinarian right now, but she is still a small child. That will likely change. But even if it doesn't, she will do well and I don't want old grudges holding her back."

"She's a fighter and strong." Konan said. "She reacted well to the treatment and I found her a delightful child. I see that you care deeply for her."

"She's my daughter, and my most precious light. If I didn't have her, I don't know what I would do." Itachi sighed. "But it does get lonely."

"I understand completely." Konan said as she placed her hand on Itachi's. "I was never married but I had close friends that had grown up with me. I was an orphan in my village and a few other orphans banded together to try and make a living. Well one of them went to medical school with me when it proved he had the talent for it. We grew close and then he got sick and ended up dying before he graduated. He was brilliant and if he could have held out just a little longer, I am sure he'd have found the cure for his illness."

"Do you mind me asking what it was?" Itachi said.

"Leukemia." Konan said. "The treatment did more damage to him than the disease would have. I was devastated but continued my training knowing that it would be an insult to his memory to give up because he died."

"I'm sorry to hear you lost someone too." Itachi said.

"It's never easy, but in time, you learn to move on." Konan said as the waitress appeared.

"Two of your usual Uchiha-san." She placed the dango and tea down in front of them. "If there is anything else you need, do not hesitate to ask." She bowed as she left.

Konan looked at the dumplings with a smile. They were the same usual white, green and pink combination with sweet bean paste drizzled on top as she had seen at many other tea shops but they seemed to give off an air of deliciousness. Itachi picked his up and took a big bite out of the first dumpling with a smiled that reminded Konan of a child getting his favorite treat. She giggled and picked hers up and bit off the end of the green one. Chewing it, she smiled. "You were right, these are some of the best dumplings I've ever had."

"Glad you like them." Itachi said as he sipped his tea. "Dango is my favorite food. It always makes my day to bite into the dumplings and just enjoy the sweetness."

"Well it may become my favorite too." Konan smiled as she ate the dumplings. "Normally if I want my favorite food, it's flame cooked fish."

"Well, what do you like to do when you do have free time? I feel like I am being overbearing keeping you at my place, but I don't know what you would like to do?" Itachi said.

"Well back home when I had time off at the village, I would often do origami or flower pressing. But there were times I just didn't have the time, came home and fell asleep on the couch." Konan said. "This job has been fairly easy and relaxing for me. I love Akari and I think...I may love you..." She blushed.

"You what?" Itachi blushed.

"I think I love you..." Konan said.

"That's a relief." Itachi laughed.

"What's so funny?" Her attitude changing.

"I was worried you wouldn't be. I was afraid to confess my feelings to you to have you not share them." Itachi laughed. "I feel like such a teenager saying that."

"It's only natural. You lost Izumi in a very tragic way. It would not be easy to love again after that. But I assure you, that if we were to go further an pursue this relationship, that I will be there for you forever because I feel much the same. And Akari seems to like me too, so that makes that hurdle small."

"True. One thing I did worry about in dating again is finding some woman who may have acted like the perfect wife to me but Akari didn't like them and Akari's happiness is what matters." Itachi got up and paid and offered Konan his hand. "Care for a moonlit stroll through the park before we pick Akari up for the evening?"

"Why certainly." Konan said taking his hand, and walking with him through the park, looking at the moon's reflection on the nearby river. Everything seemed perfect in this moment, they were alone together and only the croaking of the frogs and the wind interrupted them. Looking around, Itachi saw a white rose growing on a fence nearby. Picking it, he placed it behind Konan's ear.

"There. A flower as pure as your heart." Itachi said as he kissed Konan on the cheek.

"You are so sweet Itachi-kun." Konan said as she kissed him back.

"So are you Konan-chan." He smiled. "Well, let's go pick up Akari. I hate to cut this short, but I know that Shisui is a very permissive babysitter.

"Well that's how uncles are sometimes." Konan laughed.

"Yes but she doesn't need to be staying up to midnight watching anime. I found out that he let her do that once and I haven't been very happy about it. I know he means well but he takes his position as her 'uncle' too loosely sometimes." Itachi sighed.

"Well, let's pick up Akari." Konan said as they headed back to Shisui's house.

So how was that? Good? Bad? Short? Long? I've been going through updating some fics of mine that haven't for awhile and this was one of them. I don't know when I will update this again as I have a few others with higher priority but I'll wrap it up eventually. So remember to read (well you just did) and to review! Ciao for now,
