Warplans!
we've seen like zero actual fighting, and only the aftermath. I promise this will come down to fists lol. at the end at least.
"We immediately hired out a new firm to try and take Hein's case, but with three hours to prep, all they could do was register and show up to stand in court. They had no documents. They had no paperwork. No evidence. No argument. Hell, they didn't even know who opposing council was. It was a shitshow, and judge ruled for warrant to stand."
"... is that so."
Geese shut his eyes and pressed his forehead against his fist. Across his desk, filling two of the three seats that were always there, were his two remaining heads of operation: Mr. Big, and Billy Kane. The vacancy belonged to Attorney Gustav Hein, who had been shot full of holes - then blasted throughout SouthTown central's financial district with about a hundred pounds of C4 plastics.
Hein was gone… and not only Hein - but every single person who worked in his form… and not only the people - but every single important document he had ever stored. Including case files for Geese Howard's current predicament.
Dammit! Kain Heinlein, you bastard. You sure have some timing, huh?!
It was obvious who had done this. Geese Howard's underboss had a certain flair to his hits. He loved C4. He loved walking around in the fiery explosions as they were going off (he had been blessed with flames at birth, and were immune to the heat and pressure exerted by explosions). He loved carrying out terrorist attacks. And when he needed to kill one person - he always made sure to fill them with lead before blowing them to kingdom come. Geese had seen his underboss' 'works of art' hundreds of times - and this was certainly one of them.
And it was by some stroke of bad luck that Kain happened to kill HCon's attorney at the worst possible time. A day later - court date would have passed, and warrant would've been dropped. A day earlier - maybe a new firm could be brought in and have enough time scrabble something together to make a case. Apparently this file was quite simple, and Hein had said something about a law student being able to win it. Unfortunately, three hours wasn't even for even the most expensive consul in town.
Is Kain working with the police? No… impossible. He's labeled a terrorist and a wanted man in the United States. He and that brat Rock Howard are acting on their own… and not even under Yagami's instruction...
"Sir."
Geese raised his head. Big had spoken up.
"Sir, we still have Yagami locked up - alive?" The bald man glanced at Billy, who nodded an affirmative. "Alive. We can negotiate his safety for the Yakuza's services. They can nip this in the bud from up on high."
Billy interrupted.
"Yeh, but is that gonna be fast enough? We've got fookin federal helocoptahs flyin' round the building, cause a this stupid CIA nonsense! The pigs could be knockin' down our doors at any minute! My Police contacts say they're preppin' something big - and they got federal support tah do it! Boss! They're already making arrests on our low level guys, and the feds are making them do it!"
Billy stood to make his point.
"Something's coming Boss, and ya need to clean this place out. Collect all the evidence, paperwork whateva' and get it outta here! We can't go relyin' on Yakuza for this! We dunno how fast they work. If they get it done tomorrow, then fookin great… what if it's next week? Huh? Then we're strung out to dry!"
Geese nodded at him. He glanced at Big to see if he had anything else to add. Typically Geese's meetings ran like this. His three Advisors would sit before him and argue among themselves until the best plan of action fell in his lap. Normally Gustav Hein would also be here, pulling for the legality of PR aspects of it all - but alas, time was short - and Geese wasn't eager to let anyone brand new into his inner circle on such short notice.
"... Anything else?"
Billy was finished. Big shared his insight.
"It's a good plan. I'll get my men to collect all of our business documents into a ledger. We'll have it done by tonight. I'll take offsite to a safehouse. Even if the Yakuza doesn't come through for us this time - we still need them to kill the investigation from the top. If we don't, the police will make up something else to blame us for, and we'd be right back in this mess."
Billy nodded and crossed his arms.
The two of them sat in silence, waiting for the Boss's verdict.
Geese took a drag from his cigar before responding.
"Two Copies, Big."
"Sir?"
"Two copies of the ledger. I'll need one for myself, which I'll keep on my person. When push comes to shove, it comes down to who's the strongest. Me, or the police… and everyone in SouthTown knows I'm the overlord here. Take your ledger and hide it carefully - but your precaution is unwarranted. The police won't dare fight me face to face. They know who I am."
Billy grinned and nodded. Pleased with his employer's fighting words. Big was not as happy, but agreed nevertheless. Neither spoke a word - as Geese hadn't yet finished.
"Billy, pull your men off the streets. I want a crew of your best up here in the penthouse. Everyone else goes home. Forget about Kain for now. Who cares if we lose another warehouse when we have Federal birds flying outside our windows."
As if on cue, a helicopter passed behind Geese's office window.
"I want all eyes on Yagami. The boy's our meal ticket. He needs to live- at least until we can finish negotiating with the 4th. It's been a couple of days - so if you need to, haul him out of the ocean and give him something to drink."
Billy nodded an affirmative.
"Big. Call the Fourth. Bring him down here… It's time to strike a deal."
Geese is a great strategist, but he seemed to forget Terry Bogard is Rock Howard's dad. Terry's the wildcard here. Actually, Rock, Kain and Terry. All three are Wildcards. HCon, Yagami/Yakuza and Police/Cia are the three main opposing parties that are trying to negotiate a deal. If everything goes smoothly, HCon walks free.
But of course...
