The elevator opened up, I was still in a wheelchair which completely sucked! Ruby walked by my side while I rolled out into the Pokemon Center's lobby, "hey Davaid!" it was Ash, "oh, hey!" I took his hand, "so, how's the leg?" I shrugged, "it's doing alright, did you get your eighth gym badge?" He pulled out his badge case. He had all his badges, "you bet I do!" it was still a good couple of weeks before the Pokemon League would open, "so, where are you heading?" I pointed my thumb at the door, "I don't feel like laying in bed all day, so me and Ruby are gonna go walk around," Ash nodded, "alright, have fun!" I waved my hand at him, before rolling out the door.
Vopsei wasn't coming along since he was watching Mom and Snowy train like crazy for the Pokemon League, so it was just me and Ruby. I turned and noticed some kid with a purple jacket with navy sleeves standing in a battlefield. He had a Torterra out, and was facing something, or somebody. I stopped to watch the battle he was taking part in. on the other side of the field was Mom with her arms crossed. Standing in front of her was Snowy. I took another glance at the Torterra, it was covered in scratches and ice, and was panting. Snowy looked like she hadn't been touched, "I do admit, you are a decent trainer in terms of skill…" said Mom, she sounded pissed off, "but your views on your Pokemon is awful."
"Enough talking! Torterra use Energy Ball!" Snowy very lazily sidestepped the attack. The look on her expression screamed, "is that all you've got?" before shooting multiple Ice Beams her foe. The Torterra was too heavy to avoid the onslaught, and was knocked out. Snowy turned to me, "so, how was that?" the kid gritted his teeth while recalling his downed Pokemon. He glared at Mom, before turning around and walking away. Snowy ran to meet me, "hello Davaid, what are you doing outside the Hotel room?" I shrugged, "I needed fresh air."
"So Davaid, how long were you standing there?" said Mom, she was holding Volpsei in her arms, "I just watched the end of that battle," Mom put Volpsei on the ground, and he ran to play with Ruby. she ruffled my hair, "well, that's a small glimpse into what we'll be battling like in the League."
Suddenly something made me remember something, "hey Mom, can you let Rush out? I wanna talk to him," she shrugged, "I don't see why not," she tossed his Pokeball, and out came the Lycanroc. He sat down facing her, "hey Rush!" he turned to face me, "c'mere," he padded up to me. It has been so long since I actively called him over to me. Ever since Dad's Houndoom pounced on me, I only ever hung out with Snowy. I reached out to pet him, which made his face light up. He lightly barked while I patted his head, "hey buddy, how's it going?" he closed his eyes, then began relaxing.
All of a sudden Rush started growling at something, "why are you still here?" I turned to see who Mom yelled at. It was Dad, he had his hands in his pocket. He looked like he spent the last couple of weeks inside a bar, "I just want to talk," he sat down on a bench. He turned to me, "so you probably know why I had my Houndoom attack you," I nodded, "I'd like to apologize," Dad bowed, but didn't sound like he meant it. He grabbed a Pokeball, "somebody else would like to say sorry," and out came his Houndoom.
It sat and stared at me, before it started approaching. Ruby stepped in between us, then growled at it. I was focused on Dad, "I don't think I can ever really forgive either of you," I said in a low voice. He looked up at me, "we only attacked you to lure that Ninetales out, so I could shoot it," he said while gesturing towards Snowy, "you spent too much time with that thing than your parents."
All that did was piss me off, "you're telling me that you tried getting me killed just so you can kill my friend?" Dad nodded. I pinched my temples, "you petty piece of shit," his Houndoom was still trying to get close to me, but Ruby was stopping him. It was surprising to see just how much smaller she was than his Houndoom. Dad pointed at Snowy, "that thing doesn't deserve the time you give it. All she is is an attention hog." Snowy didn't seem bothered by it at all, "get yourself outta here, take your Houndoom. I don't want to see you ever again."
Dad's Houndoom finally snapped and pinned down Ruby, which was easy for it due to it being larger and heavier than she is. He was just about to bite down on her neck. I didn't care if I had a broken leg, I wasn't letting her get killed. I rolled up to it, and punched the Houndoom in the eye until I got it off of Ruby. she got up, then pinned it down immediately. I patted her back, "let him go," she looked at me and tilted her head. Ruby got off of him, and he ran behind Dad. he sighed, before walking away. His expression told me he was defeated.
I grabbed Ruby's face and made her face me, "are you hurt girl?" she shook her head, but I checked anyway. Other than a few claw marks, there were no other injuries. I hugged her tightly, "so that's why he attacked you," said Mom, who sounded like she was about to kill somebody. She looked at Snowy, "if we were just a couple of minutes late, Snowy wouldn't be standing here," Mom dug her nails into her palms. Snowy nudged her to make her stop.
"Don't hurt yourself by doing that," said Snowy, "so yeah, I could've died, but let's be happy that that didn't happen," Elizabeth nodded, "you're right Snowy." for the first time in decades, she lifted Snowy off the ground, and held her. Ruby jumped up in Davaid's lap, then they all proceeded to walk back to their hotel room.
We all sat down in the Pokemon Center's lobby, it was still early in the day, but we had nothing to do. After that last encounter with Dad, I didn't feel like doing anything. Ruby was sleeping in my lap, which made today a bit better, it's been awhile since she had, and it was nice when she did. Ruby was sort of like a larger version on Volpsei back when he was a Vulpix. Not in terms of personality, but more "warm and cuddly" like a Kantonian Vulpix. Speaking of Volpsei, he was playing with an old sock, and was downright adorable.
Mom and Snowy went back to training while I just sat in the center's lobby, bored out of my mind. There was barely anything I could do with a broken leg. I suddenly remembered my journal and scrapbook. I took them out of my backpack, and went down memory lane.

While I walked along out of Vulcan Village, Volpsei's been an amazing little travel buddy. I absolutely loved his company! He's so damn cute that it's a miracle my heart hasn't exploded yet! He's cuddled up in my arms while I write this, and I can't focus on this old thing! I can't wait to watch him grow up into a Ninetales.
