Zack sighed as he sat in the Pokemon Center's obby, the Houndoom he found on the streets was out cold for the last couple of days. He's been waiting the entire time, "Houndoom just needs some rest," he thought to himself. Not once had Zack ever seen a Pokemon injured to that extent in his life. Whatever happened to it, he would like to know.
Zack's thoughts were interrupted when his Umbreon nudged his hand, "what is it buddy?" the Moonlight Pokemon jumped up onto his lap. Zack grinned before petting Umbreon, "Zack, the Houndoom is awake now if you'd like to see it." the boy nodded, before walking into the medical room. He got face to face with the Pokemon, before patting it on the head, Zack opened his mouth to greet the injured Houndoom.
"Hey Houndoom…" my eyes weaky opened, I was in a hospital room, and a kid was staring me dead in the eyes. Did this boy save my life from bleeding out? Was I dead? That was answered when he was gently petting my head, "I don't get who would beat a Shiny Pokemon within an inch of its life," said a Nurse in the corner. I tried getting away from this boy, I couldn't let myself grow close to him; the last time I grew close to somebody, they abandoned me. The Nurse went over what the boy should do for me, "I recommend not letting him walk for a couple of days. If you two wish, I can offer you one of the Center's hotel rooms, "that'll be awesome! Thank you Nurse Joy."
The boy picked me up off of the medical bed, I cursed myself for instinctively leaning into the boy's chest. I noticed that at his heels was an Umbreon, I paid him little attention. My mind was too focused on what being no longer associated with Tyler meant; not only would I not see him again, but that meant I could try and make amends with that kid I had to look after. The thought of me never seeing my trainer again stung like Beedrill. He found me back when I was barely four months old in an alley, practically raised me, and that meant nothing to him. That made me whimper, I meant nothing to the person I looked up to and loved.
The boy heard me whimper and patted my head, "are you okay bud?" I looked up into his eyes, they were full of genuine concern. I nodded, "if something's bothering you, just let me know," I duly noted this offer. I then tensed up when I smelled Snowy in the area in the vicinity. That Ninetales had always scared me for one reason or another. Back when Tyler had ordered me to kill his son for whatever reason, I knew she easily batted me away without a problem. Hopefully she doesn't know that I'm here. My heart sank when I realised the room I would be staying in was on the same floor as I smelled Snowy."
Snowy groaned when she had woken up from her nap, "so you're finally awake!" Elizabeth sat down on the bed beside her Ninetails, "w-what time is it?"
Elizabeth looked over at the alarm clock, "it's 12:00PM, why do you ask?" my eyes widened, "I thought I took a nap before dinner yesterday!" my trainer chuckled while rubbing the back of my head, "don't worry, you needed the rest anyways. How is your burn feeling?" I shrugged, "I don't feel it hurting anymore," Elizabeth then started probing my neck, gently pressing in. not once did I flinch or cringe in pain. She smiled, "looks like you're healing up faster than I expected." she reached over onto the night stand, and settled a bowl of Pokemon food in front of me, "now eat up, you haven't eaten anything since yesterday's breakfast."
I couldn't help but notice that Davaid and his wheelchair were missing, "if you're wondering about Davaid, he just called me before you woke up." she smiled, "he told me that he just made a new friend." I sighed in relief; at least he didn't get kidnapped again. After his whereabouts were confirmed, I dug into my meal. Elizabeth rubbed my back while I ate. I was thoroughly relaxed.
Zack settled the Houndoom on the bed, "are you feeling comfortable?" it nodded, "that's good." he sat down beside the Dark Pokemon to examine the bandages, "you must've had some beating, huh bud?"
"You don't have to be cautious with Zack you know?" I turned to look at the Umbreon, "why should I trust him? For all I know, he's gonna hurt me like my last trainer did." I said. Just when the boy gently hugged me, I groaned, before silently enjoying it, "you're going to be safe now, okay Houndoom?" I felt a strange feeling, like when Tyler had first found me in the alleyway. Umbreon grinned, "you already look comfortable in his arms," I growled at it to hide my true emotions, "my name is Lunaire, hopefully we can be good friends."
So the Umbreon was called Lunair and the boy's name was Zack if I was correct. Zack let go of me, "you must be hungry," he whipped a can of Pokemon food out of his bag. Soon after he sent out the rest of his team which consisted of the following: a Charizard, a Quagsire, the Umbreon, Dragonite, a Riolu, and a Raichu. They all looked pretty tough, "I'll get you guys' lunch ready," he walked into the kitchen, and did exactly what he said he would. Hopefully I'll get something better than stale Pokemon food and rotten meat.
Bowls of food had settled in front of each and every single Pokemon in the room. To my surprise; there wasn't anything fancy, "sorry I if the food is getting kind of bland, all I had was Pokemon food on me." none of the Pokemon seemed bothered by it. I was however; not in a ba dway either, it looked fresh! I dug in, for the first time in years I got a fresh meal. Just before I knew it, my bowl was empty, and Zack was sitting down in front of me.
"You need to slow down while eating, or you'll end up with hiccups," just as he said, I felt my head jerk. I hated that he was right, "I'll get you some water," he took my bowl and walked into the kitchen. I heard a faucet being turned on. I felt like I was being spoiled by the kid, first a decent meal, and now some clean water! After my bow was set in front of me, now full of water, I started lapping it down. Zack reached out to let me while I drank… At first I wanted to bite him for attempting to touch me again, but I decided not to. He was a good kid, and Zack was likely going to be my new trainer.
With that in mind, I might as well be nice to him for now. It felt nice being treated well for the first time that I can remember. I relaxed into Zack's arms, and closed my eyes.
