Mom jumped in the air after winning another round in the Pokemon League, Snowy simply stood there with a big grin on her face. They were going into the FInals, I couldn't help but cheer until my lungs wouldn't let me anymore, Ruby shared my thoughts, a lot of people were cheering for her victory as well, Mom picked up quite the fan base in the time she's been here. Volpsei, who was sitting on a bench near the field, ran to congratulate the Alolan Ninetales.
Ruby got out of my lap and carried my crutches over to me, "thanks Ruby," I said with a pat on her head. The Houndoom even helped me out of my seat, and I was up and moving. I had to take it rather slow considering the circumstances, I made it to the exit and waited at the elevator after hitting the button.
I stepped into the elevator, "hold up Davaid!" the voice was immediately recognized as Ash, his friends were with him too. Of course they would be, every time I speak to Ash it's just uncomfortable, not even because of him being an unbearable asshole, his friends just didn't like me at all. His conversation with them while they thought I was sleeping was vivid in my mind.
"Ash, while you insist on us to treat Davaid as a friend, I don't think we can trust him."
Those words still stung, I know I messed up, I know what I've done, but it seems like nobody's gonna look past that. I inwardly sighed when Ash walked into the elevator with his friends. Ruby inched closer to me, looking up into my eyes, "hey Ash," I finally said, a whole 30 seconds after the elevator doors closed, "hey Davaid! We were thinking about heading out for dinner, wanna tag along?"
I looked down at Ruby, the Houndoom read my expression like an open book, "sure, I've got nothing better to do. I'll catch up with you guys after I meet up with Mom." my stomach turned a bit after things went silent.
The elevator dinged, and the doors opened up. Mom was standing on the other side with Snowy and Volpsei at her heels. At this point, she might as well have been both their trainers, Volpsei wasn't leaving Snowy's side unless he had to, "hey Davaid," the two Ninetales communicated to me. Mom was grinning, "well Davaid, how was that battle?" I couldn't help but grin, "it was awesome as always."
Ash and his friends left early to get ready for dinner, so the four of us sat in the hotel room for a while, "so you're going to dine with people you're clearly uncomfortable with?" she asked, "yeah, I am," she sighed, "alright, tell me what happened on that day again, when you killed that Malamar."
I did exactly as I was told, telling her the story in great detail, from breakfast, to me thinking Snowy and Ruby were growling at nothing, and even the part where I got burnt. Finally ending it off with Malamar's death. Mom simply nodded, intently listening, "sounds like you were cornered to me. And by the sounds of it, if you didn't, Ruby would've torn your throat out." the Houndoom looked away at that, "that part wasn't in the news last I checked."
"Well, the best you can do now is go and try to have fun. If anything bad happens let me know, me and Snowy will be there." Zacian got up from her and Axl's corner, "Davaid, can I come with you?" that sounded less like a question, and more of an order. I shrugged, "the more the merrier."
Zacian walked beside me quietly while we went to meet up with Ash, Ruby stayed at the hotel room. The legendary Pokemon was looking here and there, "after we have dinner, somebody I know would like to meet you." she said bluntly, "is that why you wanted to come?" she nodded, "my sibling would like to speak with you, he wishes to know why I decided to be your Pokemon." she started eying an alleyway, "we're being followed."
She shot a Moonblast into the alley, causing something to grunt, "that mutt of yours has a sharp eye," said a voice. A girl dressed in a denim jacket and jeans stepped out of the alleyway. Behind them stood a Raichu, in her left hand a knife, and her right was in his jacket's pocket. The Raichu looked like it was ready to attack, "stand down." Zacian ordered. She didn't have her sword, having left it in the hotel room, just how strong was she without it?
The woman started laughing, "what are you going to do? Hit me with Moonblast? That last one was pathetic!" he extended his arm forward, "Raichu, use Thunder!" Zacian closed her eyes as the rodent got ready to attack, "don't say I warned you." this time shooting a Moonblast that looked far stronger than even Snowy's Moonblasts. It collided with the thunder, outright overpowering it, and slamming into the Raichu. It was out cold.
I looked over at Zacian with wide eyes, "what is it Davaid? Didn't expect me to be packing a bit of a punch?" I shook my head, "I didn't know you were that strong!" the Warrior Pokemon giggled, "well, I don't let everyone know about what I could do if I wanted to." the mugger got mad, "why you stupid little-"
"Hey!" it was Ash again, he was standing behind me with Pikachu off his shoulder. It looked ready to fight, "h-huh?" the man turned, "h-hey! That kid just knocked out my Pokemon for no reason!" Ash's expression didn't change, "do you think I'm blind? I saw everything." in an instant, Zacian disarmed the assailant, and pinned him down, "pathetic whelp."
"I'll call Officer Jenny, neither of you were hurt, were you?" Zacian looked at Ash with a smug look, "what?"
"Nobody with ill intent is getting remotely close to Davaid. I'm making sure of that."
