Sneaky sneaky kain

"Backup?"

"That's right, Rocky. There's a small team that got separated and is waiting in the underground basement. I need to go get them, but somebody has to be here to meet up with The Wolf."

Rock blinked at him and frowned, evidently unhappy with the prospect of being left alone. Even so, he reached out and pressed the 'stop' button, and the elevator slowed to a halt. The burnished steel doors opened, and Kain stepped out. Rock stepped out behind him - brow furrowed in worry.

"Isn't it safer if we go together? I mean… what if something happens? - Before Terry comes, I mean?"

Kain raised an eyebrow.

"Well, if you can take down Iori Yagami, then I'm sure you can take down anyone else. Drop them a couple of floors - alright Rocky? I won't be long - and Terry should already be in the building. Just sit tight and wait for him - okay?"

Rock opened his mouth to protest, then after a bit of deliberation, gave Kain a nod. He wore an disquieted, even guilty, expression - yet there was flint in his eyes. He clearly didn't like what he was doing, but was going to stubbornly push through anyways - because he believed his life depended on it.

And it did. Otherwise he would have never betrayed his benefactor like he did.

It had only been about 10 minutes since the boy had successfully tricked his employer and dropped him from floor 3 to floor 1. Kain dearly hoped Iori had snapped his neck upon impact, but judging how the red-haired man immediately began screaming bloody murder after he hit the ground, it was highly unlikely. The two of them quickly jammed into the elevators, just as the foyer was flooded with billowing flames.

Dammit! Shit!

It was then that Kain thought he was going to die. He really did. The cursed purple flames were so potent, they were melting the concrete and threatening to melt the elevator as well - the elevator which Kain needed to preserve at all costs. Kain's own flames could shelter them - but he was having a hard time staving off the assault. He'd never faced flames like this before, they were like the blaze of wrathful hell. Otherworldly power. Thankfully the elevator closed and lifted them out of range before Kain's own power failed, but the ordeal left him completely exhausted.

Dammit, dammit… that power. It's the Orochi Power, isn't it? Fuck.

Kain gasped for air. He'd had a couple of clashes with Iori Yagami before, but obviously had never seen Iori go all out like this. If that man, even while healthy, wouldn't oppose Geese Howard, but had even fought on the Kingpin's behalf with the intention of rescuing Rock from this situation - then Kain damn well knew he had underestimated his brother in law. If Iori hadn't taken out the mercenary troops, then surely Kain would have marched up the tower and led his entire procession to their deaths.

But now, I've got no army at all. I need to retreat and regroup. Where the fuck are the police?! Shit! Did Geese manage to buy them?

Most probably. If Geese Howard had managed to buy Iori Yagami, He had likely managed to buy the police as well. Perhaps even the federal helicopters flying about the tower were also there for the King's benefit. It was not unreasonable to assume so. For all intents and purposes, Kain Heinlein was now alone in this war - and the odds for overwhelmingly against him.

I need to escape… there are supposed to be six trucks filled with explosives in the parking Garage…

And so, Kain needed to bail. Rock would never give up. Of course he wouldn't. Kain had set things up such that the boy had far too much to lose if he didn't kill Geese Howard. Rock's very life was forfeit if he didn't succeed in this task… but Kain was under no such pressure. He would abandon the scapegoat to his fate - allow the boy to climb that tower alone, and be unceremoniously killed by his father - while Kain himself escaped to the ground.

He would sneak down to the basement - where there were no troops, no backup… but there were six trucks filled to the brim with plastic explosives. Kain had given orders to have them parked near the pillars supporting the tower. That was his escape plan. He'd bring the entire tower collapsing down upon itself. He'd kill Rock. He'd Kill Terry. He'd Kill Iori Yagami… but most importantly, he'd kill Geese Howard.

Sure, it wasn't as flashy as a victory as Kain imagined, perhaps even a cowardly one, but a victory was a victory.

And from the rubble of Geese's reign, Kain would rise as SouthTown's new Overlord.

I didn't pull bomb cars outta my ass. They show up in chapter 50 while Johnny is briefing Blue Mary. Recall the Police only got 4 trucks (in case you don't wanna go back) not enough to bring the tower down - but enough to cause commotion. :)

Should I be summarizing chapters? let me know if it'd be useful for u guys.
