Charles Dickens sat at his desk, writing his mystery, when he got two unexpected visitors. Mick Rory and his daughter Lita were here to ask him some questions.
.
Charles: Who are you?
Mick: Mick Rory, this is my daughter Lita.
Lita: Hey.
Charles: Hello.
Lita: We're from the future, 2020 to be precise. I have an english assignment due Monday, kind of need your help on that.
Charles: Help with what?
Lita: Your book, the one you're working on now.
Charles: "The Mystery of Edwin Drood?"
Lita: Yeah, I need to know who killed him.
Charles: If you're from the future why not read it for yourself?
Lita: Unfortunately you're not going to finish it. You die before it's complete.
Charles: I what?
Mick: You have two choices. You can either tell my daughter how your book ends and I can wipe your memory, so you can live your final days blissfully ignorant. Or I can kill you now.
Charles: If those are my only options, I'd prefer the first.
Lita: Good, so my assignment is to write a final chapter, naming who the killer was, or if Edwin is actually alive. I figure you're the only one who knows, and this is also a good father/daughter bonding exprience. So, to be clear, the killer was Edwin's uncle John right?
Charles: No, it was his fiancee Rosa.
Lita: That doesn't even make sense.
Charles: It would have if I'd had the chance to complete the story. It is true that John feared he'd killed Edwin in a drug-induced haze, that's why John disposed of the body. But Rosa killed Edwin because she was desperate. She knew her family would never stop pressuring her to mary Edwin, but she didn't love him. John was a red herring.
Lita: Cool, this is going to be a great paper. Thanks for your help.
.
After they left and wiped Charles Dickens' memory Lita and Mick began talking.
.
Lita: Thanks for your help dad.
Mick: Well school is important.
Lita: You sure your friends are okay with this? Us using the Waverider for fun?
Mick: My old friend, Jefferson, he used the Waverider to take his son to the 1930s. They saw the Pittsburgh Crawfords play when they had Satchel Paige and Josh Gibson. This is how I know that Josh Gibson hit 783 home runs in the Negro Leagues. If Jefferson can use the Waverider to show his son some of the old greats, I can use it to help my daughter with her homework.
Lita: Anyway, I had fun with you this weekend.
Mick: Thanks, it was fun for me too.
