"I'll do it!" volunteers Minato. "Calm down Jyuugo, that is."
"Go for it," says Kabuto. "We'll continue the game."
So, while the water fight continues, Minato keeps Jyuugo busy. He doesn't seem to care about calming Jyuugo down. Minato and Jyuugo simply seem to be enjoying the fight. Minato manages to prevent Jyuugo from damaging anyone or anything, so no one minds that the pair fights.
Kimiko and her team turn their attention to getting the last two treasures before Team Tachi can get one back to their base. Because her team did not get the clam to base, she can't go up to the roof to get another clue. They need to steal Team Tachi's treasure if they are going to win.
Time for a pep-talk. "Alright, team," says Kimiko, frowning in determination. "We can still win this. Let's show these guys what we're made of!"
Her team cheers, and they attack Team Tachi with renewed fervour, while Minato and Jyuugo punch the stuffing out of each other on the sidelines. An all-out brawl ensues, with everyone throwing water at everyone else, regardless of team affiliation. At some point, Namiko drops the slug and Iruka grabs it.
"Think fast!" he yells, and hurls the plastic slug at Kushina.
Kushina grabs it and runs to Kimiko's team base. Immediately, the teams remember who they are, and Kimiko's team leaps into a defensive wall between Team Tachi and Kushina.
"HOME!" yells Kushina.
"The roof, now!" says Arashi, shoving Tachi towards the roof. "Stop Kimiko from getting that last clue!"
Kimiko, realizing that both she and Tachi can go up and get a clue - and that there is only one clue left - runs for the roof. They shoot each other with their water guns and throw water balloons at each other. Tachi's aim is deadly accurate. But Kimiko has gotten very good at dodging since she started the Academy, and she manages to avoid most of his fire.
They leap onto the roof and run towards the box with the final clue in it. Kimiko is much more sure footed that Tachi, and soon overtakes him. Unfortunately, that just makes it easier for Tachi to shoot her with his water gun.
Then Tachi trips on a ridge in the roof and falls, dropping his gun. Kimiko surges ahead, grabs the clue and jumps off the roof on the opposite side to where he jumped on. Kimiko hears the teams running around the sides of the building, trying to get to her first. She opens up the folded paper and looks at the clue. It is a map of the garden, with an X over a particular corner of the house. Kimiko grins. She has a huge advantage over Tachi. She does not need to wait for her team to read the clue for her. Kimiko runs to that corner of the house. There, tucked up behind the drain pipe, is the last treasure - a rubber toad. Kimiko drops the clue and her water gun, climbs up and grabs the treasure. She tucks it in her swimming shorts' pocket so that she has both hands free to climb down.
At that moment, while Kimiko is clinging to the drain pipe, ready to climb down, Konohamaru and Burifu appear. They see her. Then they see the clue she dropped. If they get it, they will know she has the treasure already. Kimiko leaps to the ground, rolling as she lands. She scrambles to her feet and grabs the clue as Kono and Burifu run at her.
"Hand over the clue!" demands Kono.
"No!" says Kimiko, snatching up her water gun and blasting Kono in the face. There is no rule saying they have to tell the other team when they find the treasure. Up until now, everyone knew because they watched each other closely. But Kimiko got a treasure without anyone knowing. She can win. So long as her team co operates.
She sees Kimimaro and Kabuto running towards her. "Cover me!" Kimiko yells, pointing back towards Kono and Burifu. Kabuto and Kimimaro see the clue clutched in her hand, but they do exactly as she asks and start hurling water balloons at Kono and Burifu. Kono and Burifu return fire with gusto, while Kimiko ducks and dodges her way towards the front door.
The rest of her team and Tachi's team gathers. Tachi is still on the roof. Iruka went up to get him, because he is too afraid to get down. Kimiko doesn't blame him. It must be horrible to lose track of where you are the way Tachi does. Then it occurs to Kimiko that Tachi might have been watching her since she grabbed the clue. He would know that she has the last treasure if he was watching.
Kimiko needs to finish this before he has a chance to calm down and tell Iruka. Arashi squirts Kimiko with his water pistol, making her squeal and drop the clue. All of Team Tachi and Team Kimiko run for the clue.
All except Kimiko.
She dives for her Team Base.
"Got it!" yells Sekitei, holding up the clue in triumph.
Kimiko reaches the door way and stands beside the other treasures. Then she takes the toad out of her pocket and holds it high over her head. "We win."
Everyone turns to look at her, except Minato and Jyuugo, who are still fighting. Iruka and Tachi appear at that moment.
"That was really sneaky," says Tachi, grinning. "I thought they were all after the treasure, since I knew you found it. I didn't think you hid it and got everyone fighting over the clue."
Kimiko blushes with pride.
Kushina laughs. "Clever kid!"
"Well, the win goes to Team Kimiko," says Kazama. "Your prizes are inside. You each get a bag of lollies and chocolates. We will be having cake in the pool room, so that those of you who want to swim don't need to get completely dried off. There are plenty of towels over there by the wall. Sekitei, you are not allowed in the pool because of your brace. You'll have to get dried and changed."
Sekitei sighs. "Aw…" she looks at the pool sadly.
Kimiko feels a stab of sympathy for Sekitei. "It's okay," says Kimiko, slipping her hand into Sekitei's. "I'm not going to swim." As much as she would like to, Kimiko is feeling too tired after all the games to swim. Besides, she is still no good at swimming.
"Anyone who doesn't want to swim go and change," says Arashi. "Then we'll hand out the prizes for the water fight and bring out the cake. Now, if you'll excuse me I'm going to get changed." He wraps himself in a towel and heads inside to change out of his grandpa shorts and floral shirt. Apparently he lent them to Shisui once - or so Burifu and Naruto say.
Kazama follows him saying, "So am I, come on girls - I'd better help you dry that brace properly, Sekitei."
Kimiko and Sekitei follow Kazama inside. They change out of their swimsuits - Sekitei has a pink one-piece with a little skirt and Kimiko wears green shorts over her purple one piece. She is too shy to wear her swimsuit without shorts, especially with Tachibana around - even though he's blind. Burifu - of course - wears a frilly bikini. She has no shame. Neither does Kushina - her bikini shows so much, she got an eyebrow-raise from Kazama. Kimiko puts her new dress back on. Her face paint is still firmly in place, which pleases her.
When they are dried off, Kazama, Kimiko, Sekitei and Arashi head back outside to where everyone else is wrapping towels around themselves and sitting back to watch Mianto and Jyuugo. They are still fighting.
"How much longer are they going to fight for?" says Kazama impatiently. "I can't hand out the prizes until they are done."
"Jyuugo should run out of chakra soon," says Kimimaro. "He's never been in rage mode this long - usually it only lasts a few minutes. I hope he's alright."
At that moment, Jyuugo collapses. Minato stops his attacks and crouches down beside Jyuugo. Jyuugo's rage mode subsides.
"He's fine!" calls Minato, grinning at the onlookers.
Jyuugo groans and sits up, holding his head. "Did I hurt anyone?" he asks.
"Nah," says Minato, grinning. "That was an intense sparring match. We should do it again some time. I had fun."
"Jyuugo!" calls Kimiko, grinning. "Our team won!"
Jyuugo looks stunned. He is not used to no one caring about his rampages.
Kazama doesn't give him a chance to think on it too hard. She gets on with handing out their bags of sweets.
Kimiko is starting to feel anxious. Her dad is not here yet, and they are already up to cutting the cake. Kimiko tries not to show how anxious she is. Kazama brings out the cake, and everyone sings 'Happy Birthday'. Kimiko closes her eyes and makes her wish. I wish, wish, wish that Daddy will come soon! She begs whoever is in charge of granting birthday wishes. Then she blows out the candles. Kimiko opens her eyes to see that two candles are still lit.
A sudden gust of wind blows out both candles.
In a swirl of leaves, the gust of wind comes to a stop, revealing Jiraiya and Nagato.
"Daddy!" says Kimiko, a huge grin taking over her face.
"Sorry I'm late, squirt," Jiraiya says, putting down the box he is carrying and picking Kimiko up to hug her. "I stopped by the Hidden Rain on the way, and Nagato insisted on coming too."
