Sorry for the late update, I had a really long few weeks. Although I'm back! Enjoy the read 3
The girls, now at the store that seemed untouched, all looked around aimlessly. Beca had insisted taking only things that were useful, but Stacie seemed to want to grab things that weren't really necessary. Beca having to shut down everything Stacie would hold up.
Chloe on the other hand… She was just kinda looking at things. She had already gotten everything that seemed to be a necessity. Currently she was at the pharmacy, looking at the medicine. Even though she had grabbed when was mainly needed, she was kinda debating on grabbing everything that they might need in the future. First aid was hard to get these days. Sometimes harder than food at times.
*Thud*
Chloe's brows furrowed as she looked to the door that was near the back of the pharmacy. When another thud came to sound, she carefully walked over. Taking a knife out, she brought it up before bringing her hand to the door handle.
"Chlo." She heard and looked over her shoulder. She shrugged, tapping her knife against the door only for a growl to sound. Beca walked around her and to the door, grabbing the handle. Chloe sighed, taking a breath and nodding. Beca opened the door, only for Chloe's eyes to widen.
"Shut the door." Chloe breathed. Just as Beca tried to shut the door, the door slammed open and the tiny brunette was thrown to the floor. Beca shakily turned and looked over. "What the fuck." She said shakily.
Chloe ran up to her, helping her up. "We need to go." She said before clearing her throat. "Now." Despite being shocked at hearing Chloe's voice, the tiny brunette was even more shocked at the sight of the creature in front of them.
Once the tiny brunette was up on her feet, Chloe pushed her forward and the two began running.
"Guys?" Stacie questioned as she saw them running up. "Run!" Beca exclaimed. Suddenly the ground practically started vibrating causing Stacie's eyes to widen. Chloe grabbed the tiny brunette's wrist, pulling her. "What the fuck is that thing?!" Stacie cried as the three ran out.
As soon as the three made it out of the store, they turned and looked back, slowly backing up to the truck. Stacie looked over to the truck just in time to spot an infected stumbling right into Chloe. "Chloe." She said, quickly stepping up and grabbing the creature. In doing so, Chloe turned and brought her knife up, driving it right through the monster's head.
Stacie let it go and nodded. "Let's go." She breathed. Chloe nodded and the two began making their way to the truck. When the two noticed a certain small brunette not by their side, the looked over just to find Beca pushing an infected away before being grabbed by another.
Chloe's heart dropped to her stomach. Before she knew it, she no longer had hold of her knife and Stacie was looking at her with shock.
Before either could actually do anything more, Beca was suddenly being grabbed and thrown across the street, right past the truck.
"Beca!" Stacie exclaimed, following Chloe as the redhead ran over to the tiny brunette who just laid on the ground squirming in pain.
"Start the truck." Chloe pointed and Stacie nodded, running to the truck.
Chloe looked to Beca who seemed to be barely holding onto consciousness. She shook her head, running over and opening the trunk before turning and picking Beca up into her arms. After placing Beca down in the bed, she climbed in. "Go!" She called out as she pulled the small door up. While turning and grabbing Beca into her arms, Stacie slammed on the gas.
Chloe then felt something at her lips and brought a hand up just to realize her nose was bleeding. "Fuck." She mumbled.
"Fuck fuck fuck fuck." Stacie rushed out, slamming on the breaks and getting out of the car as everyone ran up.
"What's going on?" Flo asked with worry. "You… There was a huge Rotter. It just… It threw Beca across the damn street." Stacie explained shakily as Benji opened the trunk.
"Alright, let's get her on a bed. Jesse, Benji, go get all the medical supplies. Did you guys find any?" Aubrey asked, looking to Chloe who took her bag off and handed it to the blonde. "Your nose." The best friend grabbed Chloe's face. Chloe gently pushed her away. "I'm fine." She mumbled. Aubrey looked at her for a moment before nodding.
"Beca doesn't look to good." Amy said with worry. Aubrey turned her attention over to the tiny brunette only for her face to turn white. Chloe looked at her. "What?" She asked quietly. "What the hell happened?" Aubrey breathed.
"She was picked up by a giant… like huge, twelve maybe? Foot tall Rotter and thrown all the way across the street. There was a lot of force behind the throw too." Stacie explained.
Aubrey's jaw clenched as she examined the tiny brunette. "We need all hands on deck. Let's just hope we have everything we need to help her."
Chloe felt tears strike as Adam carefully grabbed Beca into his arms. "Be careful, all I can tell is the scrapes and broken arm. I don't know how bad everything else might be." Aubrey warned and Adam nodded.
"She's strong. Don't worry to much yet." Stacie said softly, gently bringing an arm around Chloe. The redhead stayed quiet. Stacie frowned as she thought the redhead might be going quiet again. She really didn't want to know what'd happen if Beca was really hurt or… or didn't make it. The tall brunette then realized the blood at Chloe's face. "Come on, let's go clean you up."
"We've all been waiting to hear that voice again." Stacie said with a weak smile as she gently wiped the dry blood off the redhead's face. Chloe looked at her only to weakly shrug. "Beca's really missed it." Chloe nodded. Stacie looked at her, silently begging for her to speak again. She wasn't going to force the redhead to speak, it was obviously a rather insane situation that the girls were in back at the town that had Chloe speaking. She had a feeling Chloe was currently blaming herself.
Chloe looked down, bringing her hands to play with the hem of her shirt. "I… I was standing next to her." She said quietly.
"Chlo, I was there too." Stacie said with furrowed brows. "I could've helped too. Hell, I could've been grabbed. Any of us could've. We didn't even know those things existed. Now that we know about them we know to stay clear. Like I said, she's strong. She also has something to fight for." She smiled. Chloe looked up at the tall brunette. "You. She's got you."
Chloe blushed, weakly smiling. Stacie smiled back, pulling Chloe into a soft hug. "I can't say she'll be alright, but we'll be by her side. Right?" The redhead nodded, hugging back.
Few Hours Later:
Chloe sighed, sitting next to Beca, looking at the tiny brunette who was currently laying asleep next to her on the bed. Her eyes trailed over to the homemade cast that Aubrey had made for the tiny brunette's arm.
"Hey." Chloe heard Adam and looked to him. He gave a small smile. "For someone who was thrown across the street, she doesn't seem to bad." Chloe nodded in agreement.
"So rumor is you're speaking." Adam poked. Chloe chuckled. "I'd really like to hear that voice of your's." He said softly. Chloe hummed. "Perhaps soon huh?" Adams smiled. Chloe shrugged with a teasing smile. Adam nodded with narrowed eyes. "I see how it is. Anyways, I'll leave you to it." He pointed.
Chloe looked over to Beca, finding her weakly stirring. She didn't even notice Adam walk out as she turned to face the tiny brunette better.
"Take it easy." The redhead said with furrowed brows while Beca let out a shaky breath. Beca whimpered. "Does your head hurt? Bree said you might have a concussion." Beca nodded. "Okay, don't move to much. I'm gonna go get her." The redhead said quietly, leaning down and placing a gentle kiss against her best friend's head.
Beca grabbed Chloe's hand, making Chloe stop from getting up. "Don't…" The tiny brunette whimpered but Chloe understood what she was saying and nodded. "Okay." She said softly.
Chloe heard a knock and looked to the door once again just as Aubrey walked in. "Adam said Beca was awake." Chloe nodded. "She said her head hurts."
Aubrey walked over to Beca. Chloe cleared her throat, moving and getting off the bed. "Bathroom." She mumbled, making her way to the bathroom. Aubrey's eyes narrowed as she watched the redhead walk into the bedroom bathroom. She shook her head, turning back to Beca.
Chloe's jaw clenched as she weakly brought her hand to her neck. Wincing, she let out a breath. She looked down at her hand, finding blood at her fingertips.
"Chloe." Chloe heard just as a burning pain struck her neck. Ignoring it, she turned and drove her knife into the Rotter's head as Stacie held onto it.
The redhead let out a deep breath as she walked out of the bathroom, finding Aubrey gone and Beca seeming to be resting. She walked over to the bed, getting into the bed. Beca weakly looked at her and smiled. Chloe couldn't help but smile back.
"I… missed that voice." The tiny brunette breathed. Chloe frowned with guilt. "Sorry." She mumbled. Beca cleared her throat, her eyes squeezing shut. "It's okay." She said softly. Chloe shrugged, moving and cuddling into Beca's side, grabbing her hand into her's and holding it tight.
"I love you." Beca mumbled, tiredness heavy in her voice. The redhead hummed, placing a lingering kiss at Beca's cheek. This gesture made the tiny brunette drift to sleep with a smile resting on her face.
Chloe closed her eyes, refusing to let the tears filling her eyes to fall. She sighed, moving and hiding her face into the crook of Beca's neck doing her best to let herself drift to sleep despite the burning sensation at her neck.
