"You've been weird." Jesse poked. "Don't touch me." Chloe mumbled. Jesse raised his hands. "What's your problem?" He questioned. Chloe didn't say anything. The Treble poked her again causing her to stand straight up.

The two looked at each other, neither noticing the kids watching the interaction, easily finding the two trying to keep their calm. Chloe took a deep breath and let out a tight-lipped smile. "I just need time to think."

Jesse rolled is eyes and crossed his arms.

"Chloe?" Everest spoke up. Chloe looked to him. "We don't have to worry about anything right?" He asked nervously. She walked over to the two kids, getting down on a knee in front of them. Cadence briefly looked at her brother before looking back to the redhead when Chloe brought a hand to her face.

"I will not let anything happen to you two." The redhead assured. Cadence didn't looked convinced at all while Everest smiled and nodded.

Chloe sighed, standing up. "How are we on supplies?" She asked. She looked to Jesse, finding him not even checking the supplies. She scoffed at him. "So mature." She stated as she walked past him. "So mature." He mocked, slightly shaking his head as he crossed his arms.

"He's mean." Everest mumbled while looking to his sister. Cadence sighed in response. "Out of everyone she could've found, it was the one guy she hated." She motioned.

"Why don't you drink anything?" Jesse asked. Chloe's brows raised. "Sounds like you care." Jesse leaned against the tree while Chloe looked out at the trees. He followed her sight when he noticed the way she seemed to be more alert.

"We should leave." Chloe said quietly. Jesse shook his head. "We're just fine here." Chloe's jaw clenched, she didn't trust Jesse, but at this point he was just a moron. She let him come into this camp, she wasn't going to allow him to take over. Not when it came to the kids.

"You can stay, but me and the kids are leaving." Chloe pointed in the direction of the camp. "They're not even your kids Chloe! Honestly, even if they were, this is the safest place! Even a neighborhood isn't safe! Even a cabin in the woods isn't safe!" Jesse laughed. "Nowhere is safe." Chloe breathed.

Jesse shook his head. "And why exactly are you safe? What makes them safe with you? You should be dead." He pointed. Chloe looked at him and he just looked back.

"CHLOE!"

The two were snapped out of their staring contest, both of them looking straight towards camp. Except before either could even move a muscle, a loud bang echoed throughout the skies and Jesse was on the ground. Chloe eye's turned to Jesse only to suddenly fall back to the ground herself.

Wincing, she looked to her shoulder, finding an arrow. "Oh." She breathed as her vision slowly began to blur.

"Grab them. She saw everything, we don't know if she told them. Keep these two from the kids." She heard.

"Let her... go." She heard Jesse weakly choke.

"Actually, separate these two as well."

Chloe blinked her eyes open, instantly closing them and looking to the side due to a bright light shining right down at her.

"You wake up quite quickly." A femine voice said with surprise. It took a moment, but Chloe then realized that she was looking at a woman had dirty blonde hair and was decently tall, probably around her age as well. She was also wearing a dress which was very odd considering the world had gone to shit.

"Um, considering I went through hell, I wouldn't be surprised." Chloe mumbled since her voice was somewhat raspy. "Hm, well I'm Kacey. Here." Kacey gently helped Chloe up. Chloe took a breath, refusing to show the pain that struck. The woman held out water and Chloe grabbed it.

"If you assholes did anything to the kids-." "They're fine. They're together, your friend-." "He's not my friend." Chloe stopped Kacey. The blonde sighed and turned around, grabbing what looked like a blindfold. "I'd suggest you not fight."

Chloe didn't want to give up so easily, but she had to think about the kids. Upsettingly, she also had to think about Jesse too. Yes, he was being an asshole back at camp, but he was a bit useful at times. Along with that, he may or may not have kept Chloe a little more sane thanks to his arguing. So, when Kacey put the blindfold over her head and covered her eyes before helping her off the table, Chloe didn't try resisting it.

"What's your name?" "Chloe."

After that, there were no more words between the two. All Chloe heard were distant voices. At least for the minute. Once that minute passed, she could hear loud metallic sounds in which she could only guess was people doing work. Except the part the was scary, was the muffled scream of agony in the far back behind those metallic sounds. The only thing she could really do was hope that Kacey was telling the truth about the kids and Jesse being 'fine'. The word 'fine' didn't exactly sit well but, she'll take it for now.

"Alright, if you cooperate, we'll have no problems." Kacey warned before taking the blindfold off. The redhead looked around the room. Her brows furrowed, she never heard a door open. She didn't bother asking a question but she did turn around and look at the strange woman.

"And don't be loud." The woman pointed. "Understood." Chloe smiled tightly before Kacey backed out of the room and shut the door.

Chloe turned back around, slowly taking in the room and observing it. There wasn't anything to look at. The only thing was the odd corner glass window in the back of the room. It didn't lead outside though. She didn't waste one second to walk to it.

She made her way to the glass, slowly looking into it, worried about what was on the other side. Except, what was on the other side was anything but threatening.

"Becs." She breathed.

Chloe let out a laugh when Beca looked up at her only to jump up and run over. "Chloe?" Chloe nodded. "How… What…" Beca stumbled. Chloe shook her head. "Honestly that's a story that probably shouldn't be discussed here. Are you okay?" She asked with worry.

"I haven't been okay since you left." The tiny brunette said quietly. Chloe looked at her with guilt. Beca weakly smiled, bringing her hand up to the glass. Chloe couldn't help but do the same.

"How long have you been here?" Chloe asked. Beca cleared her throat. "You don't want to know that." Chloe looked at her. "Well did they hurt you?" Beca shook her head. "Not me." The redhead gave her a look of confusion. "Um, Aubrey and Benji are here too."

Chloe looked at her feet. "Jesse is here too." Beca scoffed. "Well damn, okay." Chloe nodded. "Yeah, he's still a jackass." "Tell me about it." Beca smirked.

The two stared at each other for a moment. "I'm sorry I left." Chloe mumbled. Beca shook her head. "I just want to hug you." Chloe laughed breathlessly. "So do I."

"Open it." Kacey pointed to the guy who sat at the chair in front of her, both of them watching the computer monitors in front of them. He nodded and flipped a switch.

"Back up." Beca said with confusion as the glass made a loud hissing sound before slowly opening.

Once it was completely opened, the two looked at each other before Beca suddenly jumped into Chloe's arms. Chloe let out a shaky breath, wrapping her arms around the tiny brunette, holding her close.

"Don't let me go." Beca breathed. Chloe shook her head, slightly pulling away. "Never again."

"Shut the glass, let them be alone for a bit." Kacey pointed, crossing her arms. The guy flipped the same switch he had before. "Alright, leave the room." She instructed and he stood up from the chair he sat in. Once he was out, Kacey sat down in the chair he was in and watched the monitors closely. She briefly looked to the monitor that showed the kids before looking back to the one that showed Chloe and Beca. "There is no way you two are just friends." She said to herself.

A/N Kept this one a bit short too cuz I want next chapter to be longer. If something doesn't make sense I will try to clear it up at some point in the story, but the next chapter will probably be out sometime this weekend. Thanks for reading, leave a review :D 3
