I do not own My Hero Academia or Jojo's Bizarre Adventure.
Watching from the sidelines, Izuku let out a breath of relief as the last civilians exited the destroyed building. Rescue efforts were easily his least favorite hero activity to watch. He didn't feel any of the thrill that he did watching a villain fight, instead all he felt was nervous fear for the people in danger. Still, he always watched them anyway. Partly because his quirk was insanely useful for rescue scenarios. On a few occasions he had even let the heroes know when there were still people who were in trouble that they missed.
Thankfully, everyone had gotten out of the building safely this time around. There was no buzzing coming from the structure anymore, which meant that it wasn't going to collapse either. Now that everything was over, he pulled his notebook out of his backpack and started jotting down a few of his observations on the heroes and how they used their quirks. He'd write some more detailed analysis once he got home, but he felt the need to put some basic notes in while everything was still fresh in his mind.
He was snapped out of his note taking by the buzzing of his quirk. It had been buzzing nonstop since he got there due to all the people who were injured or in danger, but this one caught his attention for a different reason. Currently, all the buzzing was grouped in one spot, where paramedics and police officers were handling the victims that had been rescued. But there was one buzz that was moving away from that group. It wasn't particularly loud, so he doubted that whatever injury they were suffering from was serious, but they still shouldn't be away from the emergency services.
Looking in the direction of the buzz, he was somewhat surprised to see Death Arms walking towards a car. Confused, and a little concerned, Izuku stuffed his notebook back in his bag, and ran up to the hero. He had already climbed in his car, which looked almost comedically small compared this his hulking frame, and so Izuku had to yell to get his attention before he drove off.
"Death Arms!" He cried out. Absentmindedly, he realised that he didn't actually know the Pro's real name. He'd never presume to be on a first name basis with a Pro Hero, but it still struck him as odd that he'd never learned that little piece of information.
Death Arms paused just as he was about to close the door to his car, and looked up to see who had called out to him.
"Ah, Midoriya. Can I help you?" The hero asked, pushing his door back open. Internally, Izuku squealed at the fact that a Pro Hero was familiar with him. He had to focus though, he was here for a reason.
"Uh, well, it's just that I think that, um maybe, you might be injured." Izuku fumbled out his answer, feeling like an idiot as soon as he finished. He didn't sound at all sure of himself when he spoke, there's no way Death Arms would believe him. After all, wouldn't a Pro Hero know if they were injured? Maybe Izuku's quirk was acting up. Sure it had never happened before, but that didn't mean it couldn't.
"Are you sure?" Death Arms asked, getting out of his car. He didn't sound dismissive, and that gave Izuku just a tiny bit of confidence.
"Y-yes. It, um, I don't think it's anything too serious." Izuku noted the volume of the buzzing now that he was closer and could make it out more clearly, "But it doesn't seem like a minor injury either." Death Arms looked himself over with a confused expression, and Izuku became incredibly embarrassed because the man clearly didn't look injured, "I-I'm sorry. You would know if you were hurt. I shouldn't have wasted your time. I'm so sorry, I'll leave now." He turned around and started running.
"No, wait." Death Arms said, and Izuku froze before slowly turning back around, "Your quirk told you?" Izuku merely nodded, "You're probably right then. Dammit, I need to pay more attention." He sighed. Turning towards Izuku he noticed the question in the boy's eyes and explained, "When I use my quirk, it suppresses pain. I've broken bones before and failed to notice until hours later."
Izuku had to suppress the urge to pull his notebook back out and jot down that piece of information immediately. It absolutely floor him that a Pro Hero was giving him information about their quirk. He was actually being told about it, rather than having to piece together what he could by himself from observations or interviews.
"Thanks kid. You saved me from a pretty miserable afternoon." Death Arms smiled, and rustled Izuku's hair, his hand larger than the boy's entire head.
And now a Pro Hero had just personally thanked him. Izuku half wondered if he was dreaming. The only way today could get any better was if he met All Might himself.
A beep came from Death Arms pocket, and he pulled out a cellphone. Looking at the screen, he let out a surprised hum, before putting the device away.
"Is something wrong?" Izuku asked, starting to get antsy. Because Death Arms was still buzzing to him, and the man seemed to be in no hurry to actually get any sort of medical attention.
"Just a hero alert." He replied, "Apparently, All Might just stopped a crime near here."
It was official, Izuku must have died some time earlier today, and was currently in heaven. Either that, or he cashed out the next seven year's worth of good fortune and spent all in this afternoon.
"What! Where!?" Izuku shouted, too excited over All Might to be embarrassed by his volume.
Death Arms chuckled at him, before giving him directions. Izuku thanked him about eight times in the space of three seconds before rocketing off. All Might sightings were always something that pushed his excitement to maximum, especially when they were local. One had happened in Musutafu just last week, but Izuku had been a bit busy at the time helping out that sickly blonde man. But heroes like Death Arms tended to get information on other hero activity before anyone else, so if Izuku hurried, he might be able to get there before All Might left.

Even when they were off duty, heroes rarely got a break. Toshinori had finished work for the day, having used up all his time that he could use One for All, except for the fifteen minutes he saved for emergencies, and decided to get some fast food for dinner. Because his eating habits really hadn't changed much since middle school. At the very least, he had managed to finish his meal by the time the villain showed up and tried to rob the restaurant. Why did so many crimes happen right in front of him? Maybe he had been born with a quirk after all, one that attracted dangerous individuals to him subconsciously. He did get mugged an awful lot before he got One for All.
It had been a standard job for him. Beef up when nobody was watching, knock the guy out, stay around just long enough to comfort the civilians and make sure the villain got arrested, then get the hell out of dodge before the press and crowds of fans showed up and ate up too much of his remaining time with One for All. It was only after he ran off like a child who had just broken a lamp that Toshinori realised something very important.
He left his goddamn phone in the restaurant.
Running as fast as he could in his shriveled form, which was way slower than he would have liked, he made his way back. By the time he got there, he really missed having two lungs. Even worse, there was a massive crowed gathered outside the building. It hadn't even been an exciting event, just a failed robbery of a fast food joint, why were there so many people here? Taking one look at the dense crowd, Toshinori let out a sigh. It would probably be a while before he could back into the building, and his phone might be gone by that point.
As he prepared himself for a long, boring wait, he noticed a flash of green out of the corner of his eye. Turning to get a better look, he saw a familiar head of curly green hair struggling to push his way through the crowd. Toshinori tried to make his way towards the boy, but it was somewhat difficult with all the people around them, even if they weren't very far apart.
"Excuse me! Young man!" Toshinori called out, but the boy didn't seem to notice. What was his name again? Naomasa had mentioned it, "Ah, Midoriya!"
At the sound of his name, the young man turned around. His eyes light up with recognition at the sight of Toshinori. Which was good, it would've been awkward if the boy hadn't recognised him.
The two made their towards each other.
"Ah, it's you. I'm glad to see you're doing better." Midoriya said. A look of slight confusion crossed his face, "How do you know my name, though?"
"One of the police officers mentioned it to me." Toshinori said, though it concerned him that the boy hadn't shown any suspicion at him knowing his name. Didn't anyone explain stranger danger to this child? "They seemed to be know you pretty well."
"Yeah, I run into the police a lot." Midoriya said cheerfully, before realising just how that might sound, "Ah! No-not like that! I've never been arrested, I mean-" The boy shook waved his hands frantically as he tried to stutter out an explanation.
"It's okay! I know what you meant." Toshinori put up his hands in a placating manner. Once the boy calmed down, he continued, "Listen, I never really got a chance to thank you properly for how you helped me in that alley."
"It wasn't that big of a deal." Midoriya stammered, flushing a bright pink at Toshinori's words, "I didn't really do that much."
"Even still, if you hadn't been there, I would've died," Toshinori noticed how Midoriya paled at that. He remembered how at first the fact that someone could have easily died if not for your actions could be disconcerting, "So, thank you. My name is Yagi Toshinori, if there's ever anything I can do to repay you..."
"Oh, Midoriya Izuku, but I guess you already knew that." The boy rubbed the back of his head, "And you don't need to worry about repaying me. That's not why I helped you."
"Remember the offer anyway." Toshinori couldn't help but smile at him. He barely knew the boy, but he could clearly see just how sweet he was, "Tell me, what are you doing here?"
The boy looked up, surprised by the sudden change in topic, before answering.
"Oh, I heard All Might stopped a crime here." Midoriya replied excitedly.
"He left a little while ago though." It was true, he had left, even if he was back now.
"I know, but I still wanted to come." Midoriya said, "I wish I wasn't so late. I probably could've gotten here faster, but the my first route was blocked off by a construction, and then I miscounted the number of streets until I needed to turn-" The boy started mumbling to himself.
"Tell me, do you like heroes?" Toshinori asked, though he had a feeling he already knew the answer.
"More than anything!" Midoriya exclaimed, breaking out of his mumbling, "I'm going to try to become one in the future."
"They'll be lucky to have you." Toshinori smiled fondly. This young man seemed like he'd be a great hero.
"What about you, Yagi-san?" Midoriya asked, "Why are you here?"
"Oh, um." Toshinori glanced away, embarrassed, "I... accidentally left my phone in the restaurant before all this went down."
"Oh." Midoriya looked back at the number of people between them and restaurant, and the fact that the police had closed the building off, "I'm sorry, that really sucks."
Toshinori couldn't help but snort.
Personally, I felt that the ending to this chapter was pretty weak. I had a hard time figuring out how to end it, since the second scene was originally going to be the first scene of the chapter, and I wound up making it the last scene after I already wrote it. So, it was suppose to be the introduction to this chapter, rather the the conclusion.
I don't think I'm very good at writing more slice of life stuff, or at the very least, I have a hard time writing it. I don't want to skip to U.A. too quickly, but at the same time, I'm having a hard time figuring out what else I want to have happen before we get to U.A. Like, I want to have Bakugou show up, but I'm not sure what to do with him.
Also, I'm not to sure how much I'm going to use honorifics in this fic. Mr. Yagi looked weird to me, so I went with Yagi-san instead, but I don't think I'm going to use too many honorifics.
Also, I have a very important question for the readers. What should Izuku's Stand Cry be?
