About three years later; the day after Naruto's 18th birthday.
Naruto and Sasuke meet at dawn, in the Valley of End, for their long predestined fight. Naruto stands atop the great statue of Hashirama Senju, and Sasuke stands atop the great statue of Madara Uchiha.
"This fight will settle, once and for all, who is stronger," says Sasuke. "Indra or Ashura. After this battle, their ghosts will be laid to rest, and we can get on with our lives."
Naruto cracks his knuckles. "You better not hold back, Bastard."
"Right back atcha, Idiot," says Sasuke, drawing her sword.
And so the two fight. For two days and nights, they fight with every ounce of strength in their bodies. Naruto draws on Kurama's power, and the power of the Toads of Mount Myoboku - the Sage Mode he learned a year ago. Sasuke draws on the power of her Mangekyo sharingan, and the rinnegan she awakened in her left eye while training and going on missions with Madara. With her sword, Sasuke calls lightning out of the sky and cuts down trees. Naruto floods the land with his shadow clones and devistates the landscape with his rasengan and rasenshuriken. With fuuinjutsu they create raging fires, catastrophic floods and cause the very earth to tremble with mighty earthquakes.
And, at the end of it all, in the freezing darkness before dawn on the third day, Naruto and Sasuke lie beneath the great statues of Madara and Hashirama, clinging to their lives. The statues remain standing despite the devastated landscape because Naruto and Sasuke erected protective barriers around them before their battle began.
And, as the sun rises, the shadow of death falls over Naruto and Sasuke. They feel the souls of Indra and Ashura finally leave, to rest in peace.
As the shadow of death grows lager, Sasuke says, "Oh for goodness' sake, Steve, stop looming over us and go get Madoka!"
"Alright," says Steve, and flies away.
Madoka arrives soon after and climbs through the ruins of a once picturesque valley to reach his dying friends. "Hey Sasuke!" He yells as he drops down between them. "You're a master of fuuinjutsu now."
"Awesome," says Naruto.
"Sweet," says Sasuke.
"Hold still," says Madoka, and sets to work healing them.
