I looked at the incredible landscape before me, the big river in front of the immense valley filled with some sort of barracks. In the background you could see a roman type city which was strange.
Why would they have a city in a roman war camp?
I took a glance to my left, the boy who I think was called Frank was arguing with the girl Hazel about gods knows what.
It was a really bizarre situation the one I was in, first I get attacked by these strange things that call themselves "gorgons" or whatever, then I get to an old maintenance tunnel and two kids in roman armour point some very sharp and deadly looking swords at me and tell me to run to the camp.
So anyway the weirdest part was this old lady that said her name was Juno tells me to cross the river with her on my back.
And me being the gentleman that I am could not tell her no, so here I am crossing a river with some old lady on my back.
Ah... Mondays.
"Romans!" Juno suddenly changed into a woman in her late twenties and about fifteen feet tall!
"I bring you a new demigod, his name is Perseus Jackson and is very powerful so treat him nicely" then she turns to me.
"thank you for taking me across the river Perseus, you are a true gentleman. Have fun at camp" and with that she was gone in a puff of smoke.
"Well, it's not everyday and Olympian goddess brings in a demigod personally. In fact, I think this is a first." I turn my head and see the most beautiful girl i have ever seen.
She had dark brown almost black hair that flew gracefully on her shoulders, her eyes matched her hair in color and looked like she could kill you with just one look. She wore her head high like she was in charge and by the clothes and medals she was wearing she probably was.
Her skin was tan giving it a light caramel color that contrasted the white toga she was wearing, on her shoulders she wore a purple cape that made her look like those roman emperors from the movies I have seen.
"Really? cause to me it felt like she was dropping me off at daycare" I joked.
She did not look very amused...
"So, do you know you godly parent? you give off a strong aura so I would guess he or she is an Olympian?" She asked.
"That would be correct. Percy Jackson, son of Neptune." The girl looked at me with an expressionless face but her eyes held a sense of panic.
"Welcome to camp Jupiter Percy, I am Reyna praetor of the legion."
"So what is this place some sort of military training camp for demigods?" This is so confusing...
"Hazel please show Percy around camp, I have some duties to attend to." she says, totally ignoring my question.
"Okay, come with me" Hazel gestures me to follow her with her hand. I give her a smile and followed her to the camp.
"So Percy, you look to be around sixteen how does a child of the big three survive on his own for that long?"
"I'm not sure, I actually don't remember anything before my training with Lupa. I didn't even know my name until she told me" I answered in all honesty.
"What do you mean, did you hit your head or something?" Hazel asked, but before I could answer a blond pale looking boy stops in front of me.
"So, your the son of Neptune everyone is talking about. You should get you auguries checked before you carry on." I had no idea what he meant by that but luckily Hazel cut in for me.
"Octavian, he just got here do you really need to do that now?"He looked pretty mad.
"Of course! for all we know he could be a spy for Gaea." Hazel sighed but seemed beaten his comment.
"Fine, but don't take too long Reyna wants to talk to him in the Principia." He smirks at me for some reason
"Very well, come with me sea spawn." I don't know were than insult came from but I feel like he's not the first person to call me that.
We walk into a temple with a huge statue of Zeus, no Jupiter in the middle. Suddenly Octavian pulls out a teddy bear.
"My lord please show me if Perseus Jackson is to be admitted in the twelfth legion?" he starts murdering the poor bear. Then looks at me
"Congratulation Perseus Jackson you are fit to serve in the legion." I did not get how he got that information by killing a stuffed animal but hey, as long as i'm in.
Time skip - In the Principia
I walk in to an interesting looking room, it was made of white marble and had banners that read S.P.Q.R on them. I see Reyna sitting at a strangely long desk.
"Hi, you wanted to talk to me about something?" She looks up from the paper
"Ah yes, Percy please sit down." She gestures to a chair in front of the desk and I and sit down.
"So, what can I do for you almighty praetor of the legion?" I say with a goofy grin on my face. She tries to scowl but I can see the ends of her lips twitch up for a second.
"Well you see I think you were sent here for a reason" I raise my eyebrows, what did she mean?
"Really, and what might that be?" I ask.
"Well I think the gods sent you here to help me. You are a fighter and hold great power and I admire that, I believe you were sent here as a replacement for Jason Grace" she said the name dreamily and I felt a funny feeling in my stomach, like it was being twisted.
"Who is this Jason Grace you speak of?" I say with venom, I still don't get why I'm acting like this.
"Jason was the last praetor, he disappeared without a trace eight months ago and nobody has seen him since. But that's where you come in, I think you are supposed to be the new praetor of the legion, we would make quite the team." She responds.
At the mention of us being a team my heart started racing. But it didn't make sense, why me?
"Wait, what! but I have only been here for a day, aren't there people who are more qualified for the job?" I tell her, she looks into my eyes and lets out a sigh.
"Listen Percy, I've been running this camp on my own for eight months, there are two praetors for a reason. And the other people either don't want the responsibility or can't handle it, that's why I think the gods sent you." She says. I didn't know what to do. On the one hand doing this job is a lot of work and I literally just got here, but on the other hand working with Reyna didn't seem too bad...
"I don't know Reyna, I am going to have to think about it" She looked a bit sad but quickly covered it up
"Very well, you have until the Feast of Fortuna which is in a week. You can answer me then" With that we said our goodbyes and I went to get ready for the war games that were in an hour.
