"Izuku."
He lightly pressed his pencil to the paper, sketching the outline of his drawing. He wanted to write and draw everything in his notebook now while it was still fresh in his mind. He'd finish the drawing first and then move onto writing his notes.
"Izuku?"
Adding details to his sketch, he made sure to include the pink pads on each finger. He was certain that they were how her quirk worked. She always touched all five of them to an object before it became weightless. Also, he made sure to draw the permanent pink marks on her cheeks. They were cute.
"Izuku!"
"Huh!?" Izuku spun around, nearly falling out of his chair in the process, to see his mom standing in his doorway.
"I asked how the exam went." She said.
"Oh it went..." He probably shouldn't mention the mean boy with the glasses. Or how he almost got killed, "...Well. I'm pretty sure I passed at least."
"That's wonderful! I never doubted that you could do it!" His mom said happily. She then gasped as an idea came to her, "We should celebrate!"
"H-hold on! We haven't even gotten the results yet. Shouldn't we wait to do something like that?" Izuku pointed out.
"Oh, right! Sorry, I guess I got overexcited." His mom said sheepishly, "It's just, I know how much being a hero means to you. Ever since you were little, it's basically all you've ever talked about." She paused, her voice becoming more somber, "And... I remember when we thought you were quirkless. It was a long time ago, but I still remember how crushed you were because you thought you couldn't be a hero. So, seeing you now, so close to achieving your dream..." His mother paused to wipe away the tears that had been streaming down her face, a smile having returned to her face in spite of her tears. Izuku realised then that he was crying too, "Sorry, I'm not really sure where I was going with that. The point is, I'm proud of you."
"Thanks m-mom." Izuku choked out the words, fond emotions clogging his throat.
"I'm also glad that everything went smoothly during the exam. It seems like trouble seeks you out. I was half-worried that I'd get another call from the hospital." She followed her joke with a small chuckle.
"Y-yep. Hahaha." Izuku laughed nervously. He was torn between being very glad that he didn't tell her about his close call, and feeling extremely guilty about it. Fortunately, his mother didn't seem to notice how fake his laughter or smile was.
"Who's that you're drawing?" She asked, peering at his notebook over his shoulder.
"Oh!" Izuku was startled from his thoughts and turned back to his half finished sketch, "She's a girl I met in the entrance exam, Uraraka Ochako. Her quirks's amazing. She also helped me out."
"You already made a friend!?" His mom exclaimed. A flood of tears quickly followed as she grabbed Izuku and pulled him into a hug, "IZUKU! I'm so happy!"
Izuku quickly moved his notebook out of the way before it got soaked. Once again, he felt both glad and guilty about not mentioning that he also made an enemy in the form of the boy with the glasses.

"Tenya, you okay? You're slowing down." Tensei asked in concern.
Tenya hadn't even noticed that he had been falling behind his brother. The two of them were out running, as they often did before dinner. He had been lost in his thoughts and got distracted from his run.
"My apologies." Tenya said as he caught back up to his brother.
"Is something wrong? You've seemed down ever since yesterday." Tensei said, "Did something happen during the exam? Are you worried you didn't pass or something?"
Shame flooded through Tenya as he remembered the events of yesterday. The more he thought about his actions, the more disappointed in himself he became. On top of how he behaved during the exam, he hadn't said a word about it to anyone, not even his brother. And he usually shared everything with Tensei. Especially whenever he messed up in some way, he always went to Tensei first before either of his parents.
That only served to make him feel more ashamed. It felt like he was hiding how disgracefully he had acted. Once again, he felt like a coward, too afraid to tell his brother what had happened, because he was worried that Tensei would be disappointed that he hadn't behaved like a hero should.
But, hiding his mistakes wasn't how a hero should behave either.
"...I'm fairly certain I passed." Tenya started slowly. Slowing his run, he came to a stop and his brother followed suit, "But... Something did happen during the exam."
"Whatever it was, you can tell me." Tensei said, reminding him of something Tenya had always known. It was enough for him to continue.
"Do you remember the incident with the sludge villain?" Tenya asked. Tensei nodded in response and he continued, "One of the middle school students involved, Midoriya, was taking the exam with me. We were even assigned to the same battle center."
"That makes sense, a lot of people were talking about how both of the kids involved would make promising heroes." Tensei said, recalling much of the media discussion that had gone on when the event occurred.
"Yes, but I was surprised that Midoriya was allowed to try for U.A. After all, they do detailed background checks on potential students, and Midoriya is guilty of vigilantism, which is highly illegal!" When Tenya said this, Tensei coughed and looked in another direction, "Additionally, he acted highly disruptive during the presentation we received prior to the battle trail. And he attempted to interfere with another examinee's preparations."
"Is that why you've been upset? Because this kid was causing trouble?" Tensei asked.
"No." Tenya replied with a heavy sigh, "Seeing how he was acting and knowing that he might get into U.A., it made me determined to give the exam my all! I wanted to act like a true hero would in order to show him what was expected of a school such as U.A.! But... I failed. I didn't act at all like a hero should've."
"What do you mean? I find it hard to believe that you would misbehave or break the rules." Tensei said, both confused and concerned.
"No, but the exam was set up to see how people would act during villain attacks and other similar disasters. At one point near the end, a massive faux villain appeared and began to attack. Both Midoriya and I were in danger because of it. I should have tried to help him, but instead I just ran away. He could've been badly injured, and I just left him there in order to save myself. Then, another examinee who hadn't even been in danger went to help him. She purposefully placed herself in harms way in order to save him. That's when I realised the true purpose of the exam. It was meant to see if we would act the way heroes should... And I didn't." Tensya said miserably, "And then... Last night, I realised something else. Midoriya had been in the exact same situation that I had before. During the sludge villain incident, the very incident that made me judge him so harshly in the first place, he had put himself into danger to save another person. What he did was highly illegal and I still don't approve of his actions, but I can't help but feel that he acted like more of a hero than I did."
Once Tenya finished speaking a short period of silence fell over the pair. His brother stared at him contemplatively as he thought over what to say.
"So, what are you going to do now?" Tensei asked.
"What?" Tenya said, not understanding what he meant.
"You messed up, so what are you going to do about it?" Tensei elaborated, "Acknowledging your mistake was the first step, and it's something a lot of people have a hard time with. But beating yourself up for it isn't going to solve anything. So, what you going to do going forward?"
"I... I need to do better, I need to behave more like a hero should." Tenya answered.
"That's kind of a broad answer. You're smart Tenya, you always have been. You're way smarter than I was at your age, heck you might even be a little smarter than me now." Tensei said with a proud smile, "So, how exactly do you plan on being a better hero?"
Tenya let his brother's words sink in. Just declaring that he'd be a better hero was meaningless. After all, he had made a similar declaration before the exam, and look how he did then. Tensei was right, he needed a plan. He needed to figure out how he'd do better in the future.
"...Obviously, I won't make the mistake I made during the exam again." He said, "But when it comes to what I need to do in the near future... I think I need to apologise to Midoriya for abandoning him. I should talk to the girl who saved him, as well. It's thanks to her that I realised my folly in the first place. And I'll also be sure to listen closely to my teachers and let them guide me on journey to being a hero."
"Well, I can't see you having problems with that last one." Tensei said with a small laugh, "Like I said earlier, you should stop beating yourself up. Be thankful that you learned this lesson now during an exam, and look to the future."
"You're right... Thank you." Tenya said, giving his brother a small smile.
Tensei returned it with one a thousand times brighter, and suddenly broke into a run again, "Come on, we need to get home before dinner!"
Tenya quickly followed after him.

"Katsuki... Are you sure about the mask?" The old man asked carefully as he looked over the various designs spread across the table.
"What, you got a problem with it?" Katsuki snapped back. It was rhetorical question, both his parents had made their thoughts on his bandit-like mask very clear (His mom more so than his dad. Katsuki inherited his tact from her from after all). Fuck em both though, the mask was staying.
"It's just... You realise that you'll have to wear eyeliner to fill it in, right?" His dad said, trying desperately to find a reason to dissuade his son from adding the mask to his costume. It wasn't going to work.
"So!? I know how to put on makeup!" Katsuki shot back.
"Oh, I remember back when you were little, you used to beg me to let you use my makeup." His mom added gleefully. From most mothers, it would've come off as light teasing or maybe cooing. But his mom had to follow it up with a fucking cackle. There's a reason Katsuki called her a hag.
By now, Katsuki wanted nothing more than to kick them both out and go back to designing his hero outfit by himself. Unfortunately, he'd already tried that once before and it didn't work. His parents were actually invested in his life and shit. Plus, they were both designers, meaning that designing a costume was right up their alley. So they'd insisted on helping him over the last couple days.
Some people might think it presumptuous to work this hard on his costume design before the exam results even came in. Those people weren't Bakugou fucking Katsuki. He already knew that he passed, what with his academic skills and the number of villains he blew to hell. Also, he'd already had plenty of ideas floating around his head and written down for what his costume might be, now he was just actually finalising them.
"That was such a long time ago, we need to practice again. Brat, if you want your ugly mask, we're doing makeup night again." The hag stated.
"Like hell we are!" Katsuki roared.
Fortunately, his dad was there to keep a fight from breaking out. Unfortunately, he had another complaint about Katsuki's costume.
"I really don't think you should have a nuclear symbol on your outfit. It could easily come off as insensitive." His dad said.
"Seriously!? That was fucking ages!" Katsuki said, annoyed. In his opinion, nuclear weapons were some of the coolest shit to exist. Just the fact that mankind managed to create something on par with natural disasters like volcanic eruptions or meteorite impacts was awesome. The fact that they were explosions might've had something to do with it too.
"Just lose it. The last thing you want is a scandal over something so minor." The hag said.
Grumbling, Katsuki scratched out the nuclear symbol from his designs. Mostly, he did so to get his parents off his back. If it was so minor, why did it fucking matter?
"Is there anything about my costume you aren't going to give me shit over?" He complained, mostly to himself. He hadn't expected an actual response.
"Actually," His dad said sheepishly and gave a small cough, "I wanted to talk about possibly covering your neck and shoulders."
"ARE YOU KIDDING ME!?" Kastuki screamed as his mother burst out laughing.

"Ochako, if you keep pacing like that, you'll wear a hole in the rug." Her mom said from her seat on the couch.
Mumbling out a quick 'sorry', Ochako continued her pacing. Her mother rolled her eyes in a good-natured way in response.
Ochako was nervous. Or, maybe anxious would be a better word.
The exam results were suppose to arrive today, and she honestly had no clue if she passed or not. In a way, it's worse than if she knew for certain that she failed. Would twenty-eight villain points be enough to pass? While she personally doubted it, she talked to Deku and learned that he only got thirty-two points, just four more than she did, despite having a much more combat focused quirk. So, it's possible that twenty-eight was actually way more than she thought, and most of the other examinees also got similar scores. Plus, Deku also said that he was going to talk to one of the teachers about getting her more points for helping him. 'Heroes save people', were his exact words. But, Ochako had no clue if he was actually successful in that venture.
"You know," Her mom said, pulling Ochako's attention away from her thoughts, "even if you didn't make it into U.A., it's not the end of the world. Your father and I won't be upset with you, and there are still the other hero schools you applied to. So, you don't need to worry so much." She said, giving Ochako a comforting smile.
"Thanks mom." Ochako stopped pacing and returned the smile, albeit with a smaller one.
The front door slammed open, causing both them to jump. Turning towards the entrance, they saw her dad standing in the doorway, slightly out of breath.
"It's here! We got a letter from U.A.!" He said, frantically holding up the envelope.
"AH! Give it here!" Ochako bounded over and snatched the letter from his hands. At the same time, her mother scrambled off the couch towards the two of them.
With shaking hands, Ochako ripped open the letter and promptly fumbled the contents. Both a slip of paper and some kind of round metal disc fell out. The disc landed on its side and rolled across the ground. The entire Uraraka family just kind of stared in befuddlement as it went under the couch.
Then after a second, and muffled voice filled the air from somewhere underneath the piece of furniture.
"I AM HERE, ON A PROJECTION TO DELIVER YOUR ENTRANCE EXAM RESULTS!"
"Wait, is that All Mi-"
"AAAHHHHHHH!" Ochako cut her mother off as she dove at the couch and threw it to the ceiling.
The exact results of the exam will have to wait until next time. I wanted to try to write some slower moments for this chapter for practice, since I'm still not that great at it.
Ending feels kind of off to me. Even after 24 chapters, I still have problems with ending scenes.
YoungConductor: Don't feel to bad, I frequently have problems with motivation to write. Heck, this fic was on a several month long hiatus not too long ago.
Blazing heart frigid soul: That's actually a great idea. I'll probably do something like that.
ThatOneGuyUpstairs: It's never really made clear how Stands acquired via familial relation work, so I'm just as confused as you. I will say that Inko isn't going to get a Stand because Izuku did. After all, Izuku first got his Stand around 10 years ago, so if Inko was going to get one from that, it probably would've happened by now.
