I can't tell you the amount of time I've gone to reread something that I have wrote but couldn't even understand what I was trying to say.
Rag doll chapter 7. I want to hold your hand by the Beatles.
"shit". Both Ada and Eyeball said in unison.
Nobody said anything for a while, out of sheer awkwardness.
"well that's hot". Vince said breaking the ice, looking at Ada hitched up leg, that hung over Eyeball's waist.
"yep okay". eyeball said to himself as he scooted up and pushed his girlfriends leg under him. the chambers boy sat up while still trying to cover her as best he could. "what are you umm…. Guys doin' hear?. The chambers boys voice slightly wavered while he spoke. 'fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck why are they here?. why did they have to find out this way?... I mean come on, out of all the fuckin' ways why this fuckin' way?'. He screamed to himself. looking straight in to the blue eyes of his friend. eyeball couldn't look away, it was like he was trapped. He was an animal in a cage and Ace was the zoo keeper holding the key.
Ace scoffed and gave a throaty dark chuckle. "no….no, no, no. no…". he said coolly, waging one of his longs fingers and taking a few more small steps ford. "what are…. you… doin' here….. Eyeball". His voice could have been mistaken for a accusatory tone, if it weren't for the humour behind his words.
"blowin' us all off some chick".
"you none buddies?". Both Fuzzy and Mudgett shook their heads in disappointment.
"yeah and what are ya doin' with her?". Charlie scratched his chin, he had not yet realized that it was Ada Bloom under the chambers boy. the lanky blond just assumed it was just some school from their high school. For he had not yet seen Ada bloom without her hat and baggy clothing.
Vince snorted, "cause you wouldn't know what they were doin'". He joked and the guys chuckled, all except Ace.
"shut up Vince". the skinny blond muttered.
"you boys…. Make me crazy…. I'm too old for all of this bullshit you lot call fun". Old man Bob was chattering to himself. as he walked over to the work bench and gabbed what he needed off of it. the older man turned back to the younger couple in the back seat of the car and pointe at them. "I'm gonna let this shit go this time, but only because I got better crud to do. I don't wanna see her here at this hour again. unless she's getting; new tires or somthin'. Bob grabbed his hat and stormed out of the shop. Slamming the door behind him. leaving only the group of boys and the one girl inside alone.
"look Ace about the other night…".
"yeah like…. Where'd the hell you go man?". Billy asked.
"what did ya go out the bathroom window or something?". Mudgett joined in.
"we heard you were here". Ace finally began to speak again. the other gang members quieted down one their leader started to talk. "thought we'd come by… see what the hell has been goin' on with you for the past few week". He took a few more steps. "and now….. we know why". he looked down at the top of Ada's blond head. not yet being able to see her face, and like all the others boys…. Not realizing at first glance who it was. "so… who's the lucky lady". The blond leader raised his eye brows, waiting for his friend to answer him.
'do these idiot's really not know that's it's me down here?'. Ada rolled her green eyes.
Eyeball moved up further over her. "look fella's…"
"is she the reason you've been acting so strange?". Charlie asked, pointing to all the blond.
"yeah who is that?. her head don't look familiar?".
"Vince…. Why would her head look familiar?". Fuzzy frowned in confusion. "that shit don't make any sense".
The other boy shrugged.
"a chick?... that's the reason you've been so screwed up over…. That's it?. have you been with her all this time?. man we thought you went missin'". Billy opened up a purple… and took a swing. Glaring at the chambers boy.
"you all thought I went missin'?". He say up a little.
"well yeah man…. We was almost gonna call the coppers". Charlie crossed his arms.
"and yet didn't". Ada huffed quietly. Eyeball glanced down at her for a spilt second then back up at the cobras.
The boys didn't hear her.
"so this mean you over the Bloom bitch?". Charlie chuckled.
"Charlie..". Eyeball said through his teeth. Ada stiffened under him.
"you were reals porsistend on her for a while".
"persistent". The blond girl hissed. 'and now their miss pronouncing words'. She shook her head. 'why they doing this on purpose to annoy me?. Do they want to make me crazy?'. Ada bit her lip…. hard. 'don't say anything they don't need to know it's you yet'. She told herself.
"Charlie shut up…. now?". 'god he is such a mood killer. How did we ever pick up chicks while he was around'. he glanced at Ace again. 'I wonder is Ace is still pissed about the other night?'.
"Eyeball". Ace said looking down. "why don't you and I go outside. We gotta talk about the other night….. now".
'ohh…. Never mind, question answered'. "hey Ace buddy….. mind if we do that another time…. I'm kinda…".
"gettin' busy". Vince snorted.
"about to take her home". The chambers boy said through his teeth.
"yeah you were". Mudgett grinned.
"Eyeball". The blond leader said expectedly. "get out of the fuckin' car already, I'm waiting". He raised his eyebrows.
"you got this one in to bed faster than the freaky one". Fuzzy scoffed.
Eyeball felt Ada go still again. "okay…. all you guys….. need to shut the hell up….. like now".
"how long has this been goin' on…. friend?". Ace said with hostility deeply embedded in his smooth voice. The two teenage boys glared at one another.
'all these god damn years of friendship…. And he has the balls to blow me off and lie to me for god knows how long. Well shame on fuckin' him then'. Ace spat angrily in his mind.
"couldn't of been too long if he has no foot prints on the ceiling of his car". Charlie snickered.
"Charlie…. It's a topless".
"Shut up Vince". the lanky blond hissed. "look all we're sayin' is at least he got rid of the proud, because that shit was getting' borin'". he laughed.
And that was the last strew to Ada. "how did I get this label as A PRUDE!". Yelling the last part she pushed Eyeball off of her and turned around to face the group of local hoodlums. The blond girl was on her kneels sitting up in the car. "JUST BECAUSE I DON'T LIKE LOOKING AT PEOPLE DOESN'T MAKE ME A PRUDE, IT DON'T MEAN SHIT, LIKE BIG FUCKING DEAL. BUT I GUESS ANY GIRL WHO DOESN'T GIVE YOU THE TIME OF DAY WOULD BE A PRUDE WOULDN'T SHE, SO THERE MUST BE A LOT OF THEM. AND JUST COS I READ AND CHOSE NOT TO INTERACT WITH PEOPLE DOESN'T MAKE ME FREAKY". She looked at Vince fore that one. "SO SCREW YOU, YA FUCKERS". Ada pointed angrily at them all.
'ohh shit'. The chambers boy thought.
All the cobras jaws dropped through the floor. Charlie jumped back. "son of a whore….. she looks just like Ada Bloom".
"YOU ARE AN IDIOT". The green eyed girl buried her hands in her face. 'I should of just stayed under Eyeball'. "I wish I just stayed under you". she slyly turned to Eyeball.
Vince elbowed the lanky blond. "dickhead". He muttered under his breathe.
"well….. what the fuck". This was one of the rare occasions where the blond teenage gang leader left generally taken by surprise. 'HA… didn't see this one comin'. Really thought that the girl was a lost cause…. Guess I was wrong'. Ace mentally shrugged.
Billy was the first to recover. "wow, wow, wow, wow, wait, wait, wait, wait... what the hell. So….. you did…. Win the bet…. But just….. didn't say?". He squinted in confusion. "why would you…..?".
Charlie cut in off. "no….. he didn't win the bet…. He'd much further tell us about hooking us with a hot blond then take out my dogs..".
"mutts". Eyeball corrected him.
"all day… that shit don't make sense".
"Jesus fuckin' Christ…". Eyeball snatched his shirt from the front seat, then rubbed his fingers through his hair. "no I didn't win the stupid bet this". He motioned with his finger between the two teenagers in the back of the car. "happened afterwards".
"HA". Charlie pointed triumphantly.
Vince elbowed him again. "not the time". he fiercely whispered
The tall skinny boy furiously rubbed his arm. "I still won the bet". He whispered back.
"I can't believe it….. I really can't believe it". everyone turned to a dumbfounded looking Billy.
"ditched us for a chick". Fuzzy crossed his arms angrily and shook his head.
"no not that". Billy answered.
"not that?. how could it not be that. the dumb shit lied to us for weeks. If not that then what?".
"she's a blond with great legs….. who knew". Billy saying this made all the guys then turned to look at her. they looked her up and down.
"ew". She hugged herself. "perverts". She gave them all the finger.
"quite lookin' at her legs". the chambers boy glared at them. 'good god….. it's startin''. He bit his lip in anger. 'this is the reason I didn't want them to know about us. now all their gonna do it asked about what she looks like without her clothes on. and what sounds she makes in bed, or if the curtains matches the drapes'. He huffed and pulled her shift over his head.
"why didn't ya just tell us men?". Vince asked.
Ada mind flow back to when Eyeball said he may get beat up because of not telling them. her clenched her jaw. 'not today…not….. today'.
"yeah man we're your friends". Mudgett joined in. "when you bag a hot chick your meant to tell us". in all honesty that was what most of the guys were more upset about.
"well for your information I asked him not to say anything". She held her hands to her hips.
"Ada…".
"pipe down you, I'm in the middle of something". she harshly said. to the amusement of all the boys in the auto shop…. Including Eyeball.
'ohh no…. she'd trying to be tough….. now when she loses her temper she's scary. Because you don't know what my girls gonna do. it all just come naturally to her in that way. But when she actually try's….. it's kinda hard to watch… and funny don't forget funny. I guess it's cos she ain't been around a lot of people before, so she don't know how to act. I better show her how to really act tough. Not right now because of well…. The obvious'. The chambers boy sat more next to her.
"ohh really".
"yeah".
Mudgett didn't have anything else to say after that…. he felt kind of awkward now.
"well okay then". he snarked back. embarrassed that he hadn't thought his insult through enough. 'what do ya want from me?... I didn't see her sayin' anything. I didn't think she would. I didn't see it comin'.
"well good then". she snarked back. "and that's a terrible haircut". For a split second eh look hurt. "I've been waiting to say that to him for so…. so long". She told her boyfriend. "it's like a wight has a lifted off of my chest and I can breathe again. it's like a got a second chance at life". She tried to say quietly.
"really Eyeball….. her?. no offense…. You".
"Ada". Eyeball corrected Billy dryly.
"wherever". The began girl began to feel tired.
"Eyeball". Ace said in his smooth voice, making everybody gaze at him. "take her home now…. then get your ass back here….. we gotta talk".
"no". the green eyed girl felt a flush of anger.
"I'm sorry….. no?". the leader asked her.
"yeah no".
"you gonna…. Tell me why". Ace did his best to suppress a smirk, while now leaning on a wall. ' this is gonna be interesting. No chicks ever said that to me before'.
"because he don't have to listen to you". she hands found her hips again.
"Hey Ada it's fine alright…. come on I'll take….".
"No Eyeball…. We came here to fix cars and read…".
"welll…..". the chambers boy cocked his head at the reading part.
"fine I came here to read and you…. came were to fix cars and that's what we're gonna do. so I don't give damn if you friend here…". she stepped out of the car, followed by Eyeball. "wants to chat with you or not…. He's just gonna have to wait until tomorrow…".
Ace cut her off. "and why would I want to wait?".
"ohh I don't care about what you want…. No…. I care about what I want. And I…. wanna finish the nice night Eyeball and I were having before you and your pack of jagoffs showed up and killed the mood".
Ace looked at Eyeball suppressing a smirk. "well Eyeball…. Looks like we're not in the presents of a liar". The blond leader looked to the blond girl glaring at him. "I can respect that".
"respect this". She re gave him the finger again.
"ohh I do". he laughed.
She didn't like the way the leader seemed so comfortable. 'why isn't he getting angry?. Eyeball said he be pissed about the two of us keeping are relationship a secret from them. so why he isn't trying to rip our heads off right now…. is a mystery'. She suddenly decided she didn't want to being the same room with him and his gang anymore. "ya know what….. I changed my mind. Eyeball". Ada turned to him and held his hand. "take me home".
"okay cool so see ya guys later". He said looking down. The chambers boy gave her hand a tight squeeze and pulled her with him towards the door. he only stopped once Ace got in his way.
"come on buddy". He held his shoulder. "you don't gotta be that way". He smiled but there was something behind it. "come on". the turned and pulled out a beer from the carton. He passed it to him and grinned. "tell her she doesn't have to be so shy….. we're all friends here".
The blond girl scoffed. "I can understand words if you'd like to tell me". Ace looked at her for a moment then back to Eyeball.
Eyeball watched him for a hot second trying to figure out what to do. until he finally decided. "hey Ada….. why don't go back to your book". He said without looking back at her.
"see there ya go". Ace smiled, showing all his teeth.
The green eyes girl couldn't understand what had just happened. 'wait hold on….. now he wants to stay?. He thinks that's a good idea….. why?. why would he want to stay here with them with me here?. 3 seconds ago he was ready to take me home and he wants to hang out with his buddy's'.
Eyeball cold see that if he didn't explain himself to her that this wouldn't go down to well when they got home. "Ada… can I talk to ya for a sec?". the chambers boy held out his hand for her to take, which she grudgingly took with a death glare. She followed in to the back of the store. "okay…". he wasn't sure how to start. "I know your probably pissed right now…. but let me explain.
"explain why you're an idiot go ahead".
"it's just maybe….. you spending time with them wouldn't be the worst thing".
"I don't see how".
"just so you can get used to them. look they ain't gonna do nothin' to ya. I can promise that".
"can you?". the blond crossed her arms.
"yes….. just trust me please…. It's just so you can see that their not the worst guys in the entire world. Plus…. I know that Ace Is gonna wanna talk to me. It's best that I do it now so that later it wouldn't be as bad. I can tell he's still real pissed off with me for the stunt I pulled at the bar. I longer I avoid him the worst he gonna be about us".
"why do your friend suck so much".
"I don't know….. bad home life". He shrugged.
"ohh shut up".
"come on". he grabbed her hips and drew her closer to him. "it isn't gonna be a big deal.
Ada still wasn't convinced.
"look ya can read the whole time if you'd like, ya can just ignore them, they ain't gonna care nothin'.
"Eyeball I just don't know".
He exhaled in defeat. 'I really didn't want to do this'. ."I take you back to the book store tomorrow…. And..". he signed again. "walked around behind you the whole time as I hold ya book…. And I'm not allowed to bitch about it".
"really". She raised an eyebrow. 'is he screwing with me?'. "are you..?".
"I'm serious….. the whole time I won't open I mouth unless spoken to". he crossed his heart. 'I'm gonna wanna kill myself by the end of it but as long as all goes well now…. I'll be fine. Just as long is Ace is off my back and there won't be any more lying'.
"pinkly swear?". She held up her little finger.
"pinkly swear". He link his with hers.
"well come on then… but like you said… I don't have to talk to them".
"you don't; have to talk to them".
"fine…. But you better not try and get out of tomorrow, because so help me…".
"I won't I won't Jesus". He held up his hands in surrender.
"well…. Let's go then". he huffed.
"good". He took a hold of her small hand and walked her out back to where the guys were.
"you two done with you lovers spat?".
The chambers boy opted for ignoring Ace's comment. "you done with standing around or are ya gonna help me fix this car?".
"pass me a damn wrench". He snickered.
Eyeball throw him the tool.
"what's she gonna do then?". Charlie asked.
"mainly ignore you all".
"she's gonna help me out with the car". The chambers boy lifted his arm around her shoulders.
She gazed up at him. 'well this wasn't part of the plan'.
'I figured if she enjoyed doing it before then maybe she'd be in an better mood if she did it again'.
The boys snickered. 'girls don't like cars". Billy frowned, not sure whether he wanted to laughed at that or not.
"this my girl does…. don't ya". he looked down at her.
"yeah okay because a girl is gonna wanna get dirty. If grease got in her hair and she'd freak out….. she's a chick man". Charlie shook his head.
'wrong thing to say man'. Eyeball thought to himself turning down to Ada. 'I know for a fact the my girl ain't gonna take that shit lightly. He better stand back'. he willed himself not to smirk.
She crossed her arms and glared. "you are such a guy". she snarked.
The blond boy seemed confused for a moment. "Is that not….. a good thing?".
"you think I'd give a shit if I get grease in my hair?. Have you ever heard of washing?. Have you ever heard of taking a shower?. I wouldn't be surprised if you wouldn't, given your app…. You big jackass. What are you stupid, why are you such an idiot".
Charlie cut her off. "your so mean". he was taken aback by how open she was with insulting him. the gang snickered. 'she's like crazy person'. The lanky blond through.
"ya good?". Eyeball whispered in her ear.
"yeah I'm fine I just…. Get worked up".
"I know, I know". He said like he was comforting her.
"ya know what…. I'm gonna read for a bit, if I get too close to him I'll whack him with whatever I'm holding at the time".
"yeah you do that". he rubbed her shoulder.
"what's happening right now?". Vince asked Ace.
"who knows". he clapped his hands together. "well you boys get started Eyeball I gotta talk to ya". the leader began walking outside not bothering to wait for him.
"shit". He muttered. "just hang out okay, I'll be back". he made it for the door.
Outside of the auto shop.
"so..". he crossed his arms. "all for a chick".
"she ain't just some chick Ace….. she'd my girlfriend".
"when did this happen?".
"about a week ago".
"you were acting weird before then".
"well I decided I wanted to be with her then and she wonna…. But I wore her down". He grinned to himself.
"she why you were late to the party last weekend end?".
"yes and no".
"what's meant mean?".
"it's means that I was with her that day but when I got home I fell asleep. I wasn't bull shitin' ya if that's what you're thinkin'".
"what the hell happened to her being a sea witch?".
"she's fun, I have a good time with her. she's no bullshit and I can respect that. anyway…. She's been helping my little sis to read".
"Why?". the blond leader really couldn't understand why Ada even care. Truth be told he couldn't understand why Eyeball could care about whether or not his little sister could read or not.
"because she wanted to. because she likes readin'…. For some reason".
"who likes readin'". Ace more said that part to himself then to Eyeball. "but why'd ya lie though?". He crossed his arms. "that's the part of don't get".
"I don't know".
"bullshit come on tell me".
'god damn it. he ain't gonna let this shit go is he'. "because I wanted her for myself for a while okay".
"what ya think I was gonna steal her or somethin'?".
"it ain't about you".
"was this because I was talkin' to her in the hallway?".
"no… and why were to talkin; to her at all?. Why'd to pick her when we made the bet in the first place?". He now crossed his arms.
"because I thought it be funny…. And there's nothin' else to it".
"is it still funny to you now". 'no, I've known him for too long, just to be funny ain't the only reason he'd do this crap'.
"kinda yeah".
"are ya sure that's the only reason?".
"what are you tryin' to as… buddy?. Don't believe me?".
The chambers boy exhaled loudly. 'ya know what….. I'm probably wrong. Massing with somebody's life just to see what would happen in something he'd do'. "okay fine… I guess it don't matter after all". He shrugged it off, pushing what he was really thinking in the back of his mind.
"there ya go buddy". Ace smile and throw his arm around Eyeball's neck. "we good?".
"yeah we good".
"good, now… let's get inside I'm freezing my ass off". the blond leader walked in to leaving Eyeball standing in the street.
The chambers boy throw his head back. "loud give me strength". He walked in the door.
Inside the auto shop.
"how long have you been a blond for?". Charlie asked, feeling awkward being in a room with her. 'why did they have to leave her here with us?'. he looked around the room at his friends to see as tense a he was. 'why would they leave her in here with us?. they didn't have to do that. and where's this book that was talked about?. she's just standing there… watching what we're doing. And how do we talk to her?. are we meant to talk to her?. is Eyeball gonna be okay with that?. and why aren't they other talkin' to her. what are we mean tot say to her?'.
"calming words Ada….. calming words, try to be nice… for Eyeball'. Ada told herself. "did you wanna take a guess". 'what happened to try and be nice?'.
He held up his hands in surrender. 'why would you go with that?, with all the things you could of asked her and you went with that?...why?'. "kay sorry, just tryin' to get to know ya".
'well crap now you have to be nice'. She huffed. "it used to be lighter when I was little. but when I started to get older it become more….". Ada held us a few strands of her duckling coloured hair.
"that normal?".
"yeah I think it happens to most people".
Charlie wasn't sure what to say after that. "cool". He replied awkwardly. The lanky teen then walked over to the other side of the room next to Billy. Who was in the processes of changing a tire.
"you ask her".
"no you ask her".
"hey you're the one who wants to know?".
"shut up you do to asshole".
Both Fuzzy and Vince were getting in to a whispering fight in the corner of the room. They hadn't realized they weren't being as quiet as they thought. The blond girl rolled her eyes.
"what do you wanna know?".
"what nothin'". Fuzzy answered quickly.
"just ask?". Ada rolled her eyes. "I'm not gonna care".
"well it's just…. Well ya see….. umm okay…. So we've heard…. ummm". Vince stuttered though what he was trying to say.
'I change my mind'. But as she was going to tell him to just shut up Ace walked back in with her boyfriend following behind him. 'ohh thank the loud'. Eyeball came up to her and moved his arms around her waist.
"All good?". He raised his eyebrows.
"other than the awkwardness….. yeah". She whispered to him.
He laughed.
Ace watched then not sure what to make of their relationship. 'well…. I guess he has a girlfriend now…. that's new'. The leader shook his head.
"let me know when you want me to take ya home okay'.
She nodded. 'right now would be idyllic'. She thought. 'but when it comes down to it he's right, I should try and get to know his friends'.
He lightly kissed her cheek. "it won't be the worst thing in the world, besides…. If any of them pisses ya off… just tell me and I'll punch'em".
"you'd really punch one of your friends for me". She smiled.
"Couse I would, we punch each other all the time". He pecked Ada on the lips. "ya don't even have to be pissed off at'em… just tell me to punch'em and I will... anything for ya…",
"thank you for whisperin' for our benefit". Vince said getting their attention. "but can you both quite makin' out. We got a car to fix".
Eyeball flipped him off and chuckled.
Later.
It was now 3 in the morning. Ada hadn't realized how fast the time flow. Her boyfriend had been right about it being not so bad. The blond girl spend most of her time with him anyway.
At some point the both of them had actually forgotten about all of his friend being there. Eyeball would stand behind Ada puppeting her as they stood over the engine of one of the cars and be controlling her arms on what to do.
Leaving the other guys watching them in confusion and somewhat amusement. but of course the couple took no notice, being too busy messing around.
Fuzzy lent over to Billy. "well would ya look at that…. a chick liking cars". He whispered in amazement not having ever seen it before. Like all the guys he thought no girl would ever enjoy being about tools and grease for even a minute. The boys had taken bets on weather or she she'd began to cry or not, or just get fed up and decide to walk home.
Ace had been the only one to bet against her leaving. Guessing that the green eyes girl would surprise them all.
'I know". Billy replied to him in complete shook. "who woulda thought it". he sipped his beer. 'is that hot?, I don't know, what are we to talk about around her?. we normally talk about chicks…. Can we do that around her?. chicks and cars. I guess we can talk about cars with her….. I drought she'd know that much though from the way Eyeball is practically doin' everything'.
"I gotta take a piss". Eyeball suddenly said to her. "here". he passed her a wrench. "just scrawl that in to that, I'll be right back". he walked off.
"ohh god he's leavin' us alone with her". Charlie quietly said to Vince.
"just be cool".
"how?".
"just do what you normally do".
"what's that?".
"how the hell would I know?". Vince smacked him in the arm. "just keep drinkin' you'll be fine". He slipped his beer.
"kay… just keep drinkin'". As the lanky blond took a slip od his beer it went down the wrong way. making him spit it all back up and began to cough.
The other cobras looked at him like he was an idiot. Even Ada could help but look up. "wrong pipe". He said still coughing.
After screwing in the bolt she decided tog et a drink. The blond girl strolled in to the back of the auto shop to get to the little fridge out back.
Not realizing she had been followed.
Ada grabbed a coke and shut the door, only to be meet by an smirking Ace. "how long have you been a blond for?". he asked innocently. Obviously mimicking Charlie's earlier question. Billy had filled Ace in on what he had missed while talking with Eyeball outside.
"very funny". she shut the door. Ada tried to walk passed him but he blocked her way. "you need something?". She raised her eyebrows.
"just wanna get to know my buddies' girl". He shrugged. "I gotta tell ya…. I didn't except to walk in on what we walked in on".
Ada felt her face go hot at the thought of them seeing her under Eyeball. 'well I'm scared for life'. She thought. "so?... I didn't expect to every be under him but you don't see me bitching about it now do you. besides he's my boyfriend. We can do that". she put her coke down and crossed her arms. "got a problem with that?".
Ace chuckled. "Eyeball has a girlfriend….. now that was something I didn't see comin'. He's always been more of the…". He paused trying to figure out a way to put it.

"well looks like he's growin' up then". he chuckled again.
"why do you care anyway?".
"just tryin' to figure out why he's wanna keep ya away from us for so long. Did he tell you I'm the one who picked you out?".
"for the bet?... no, but I can't say I'm all that surprised. You've always seemed like kind of a asshole".
"kitten got claws I see". He smirked "when did he tell ya about the bet?".
"he didn't, I figure it out right away. It wasn't that hard to do, it isn't like any of you cobras have the bets reputation for being stand up students ".
"and you still went out with him?".
"yeah I did…. But not for a while".
"but you liked him?".
"does it matter?".
"no, just wondering why even after all that you still agreed to help has little sister lean how to read".

"then it seems you already know a great deal of what's been going on between us, so why the interrogation?".

Ada suddenly felt cold. "don't you hurt him". the green eyed girl said without missing a beat, stepping towards him.
"hey ain't nobody gonna hurt no one…. just wonderin'".
"he told me that if you found out he lied you'd beat him up for it…. something about the guy way". she rolled her eyes.
"yeah that is the guy way of handling things…. He knows that". Ace had no intention of actually hurting Eyeball. He wasn't gonna really beat up his best friend. one of the other guys maybe but not Eyeball. He just wanted to see what her reaction would be. "he's a man he'll be fine".
She took another step towards him becoming even closer. Ada still had been holding the wrench from before. She held it up to his face, this was as close to him as she had ever been. "if you touch him in anyway….. I will beat the shit out of you. and don't think just because I have a vagina I won't".
He tried to not to so amused. "good luck with that girly". He scoffed. 'well that's cute'. He thought. "I mean it, no one touched what is mine". She picked up her coke and went to walk passed him. but instead stopped next to him. Ada looked up at him. "like I said…. hurt him in anyway…. And I will blind you". she stormed off.
He watched her walked back in to the where all the cars where. 'HA…. Maybe she ain't so bad after all'. He smiled thinking that maybe she would be good for his friend after all.
3 minutes later.
Eyeball walked out of the bath room rebuckleing his pants. "you ready to go?". The chambers boy asked his girlfriend making his way up to her. it was now getting closer to 3:30 and they all had school the next day.
She nodded and finished off her coke.
"you guys ready to, we gotta lock up".
"5 more minutes". Charlie whined.
"Charlie". Ace warned.
"fine". He began to put his tools away.
While Ada was getting her stuff together and the guys were cleaning up Ace tool Eyeball aside again. "you stayin' at her place?".
"yeah probably". He shrugged.
"where's her mum?".
"she doesn't know, Nora's always goin to her friend houses. They all live like… an hour away. She stays over at their places a lot".
"so…. you've been with her for the passed few days….. alone". He smirked and raised his eyebrows.
"we ain't havin' sex if that's what you're thinkin'. We just got together…. And I like this one. plus she ain't ever had a boyfriend before. It's gonna be a while before she even starts thinkin' about doin' that with me".
"have you met her mother yet…. I've heard things about her ya know?".
"no I haven't…. and we can't know about us okay".
"why not?".
"because Ada told me she's a crazy person. She found out we was together…. The insane bitch would hang her".

"Yeah so if ya heard anything in town… let me know about it kay… ya dig me?".

"hey I'm ready". Ada walked up to him and held his hand. "Ace". The green eyed girl acknowledged his presents.
"honey". He joked.
"see you guys at school tomorrow?". He waved off his friends and walked Ada out of the shop.
"think he's gonna marry her?". Charlie asked the gang.
Eyeball and Ada.
"so…. what did ya think of'em?". He asked her.
"they weren't that bad".
"I guess that's somethin'. "Better them being not bad then shit".
"did you wanna stay over again tonight?". she asked him.
"can we stay in the same bed this time".
"I don't know". Ada didn't know how comfortable she was with that.
"come on with already slept together one. and hey that was way more romantic then being in a bed together".
"how do you figure that?".
"we fell asleep in front of a fire... chicks love that crap….. right?".
"yes Eyeball… chicks love that crap". Ada said sarcastically. She looked at him as he watched the road. "fine, we can sleep in the same bed. But no funny business".
"okay". the chambers boy smirked.
"I mean it Eyeball, I feel hands and I'll snack ya".
"all I said was okay". he laughed.
There was a bit of a paused.
"I heard what you and Ace were talking about". she said. "that he wanted to know if we were having sex or not".
"don't mind him. he's just being a nosey Mary. Look…. guys talk about that stuff is all".
"what?. Guys talk about sex?... now who would of thought that?". the blond girl said sarcastically while rolling her eyes.
He laughed.
"why?".
He knew what she meant. "because it's good…. Like… real good".
She went quiet.
"shit that wasn't me tryin' to… like….. pressure ya or anything".
"it wasn't you?".
"then what's got ya so… upset".
"it isn't that I'm upset it's just….".
"it's cool… you can tell me?".
"the only things I know about sex is what I've read. My mum never told me about it. and I always zoned out in health class because of how boring the teacher was".
"miss Thomas?". He knew which one she was talking about. "Hey that don't matter".
She gazed at him.
"when we're gonna…. I mean when your ready…. It'll be natural. You heard people say that it's as natural as breathin'?".
"yeah".
"well it's true. For chicks it's only hurts the ones then it's over".
"it hurts?". She frowned.
"I think it does…. I don't actually know. I've only ever been with…". he stopped himself. "ya know what…. Not important".
"who". She felt a pang of jealously run through her.
"it don't matter". He looked at her again to see his girlfriend staring at him. "let's just say they weren't virgins okay. I ain't ever been with a virgin before".
He pulled up to her house and they both got out of the car. Once they got to her door he held her by the waist and turned her to face him. "hey". He pulled her to him. "not until your ready kay". He kissed her forehead. "I ain't gonna hurt ya".
She smiled and kissed him back on the lips.
The next day.
"have you had somthin' to eat?".
Ada thought that him making sure she had had something to eat before going to school was sweet of him. she knew that he wasn't used to caring about somebody like this so he probably didn't even notice he was doing it. Ada didn't want to embarrass him if he decided to get all manly about it and act. 'knowing him he'd just say that it was so if I were be get hungry I wouldn't get on his nerves by bitching about it. which we'd both know wasn't the real reason, he just didn't want to seem all lovely dovey with me. Which in the end is something I could appreciate, being as I'm not the most lovely dovey romantic type myself'.
Ada was in the process of drying her long blond hair with a towel. "yeah I ate".
"did you?".
"yes my master, I had a piece of toast while you were in the shower".
"is that gonna be enough?. Cos I know that you don't like eating at school".
Eating in the school cafetiere was something that the blond girl did not enjoying doing. Ada knew that she was just being paranoid but she couldn't shake the feeling of being watched every time she'd have a bite of her food. She guessed it was because her mother was always so thin, while the two women looked alike their bodies were completely different.
Nora's body was thin like a twig, she didn't have wide hips but a strong upper body. Her and her daughter shared the same blond hair but Ada's was longer. And they didn't have the same colure eyes either. While Ada's eyes were a beautiful light green, Nora's eyes were a deep dark blue. Ada inherited her fathers eyes. Nora was teller then Ada by a few feet, she wasn't towering but Ada still did need to look up at her.
So growing up she'd watch her mother pick at her food and make faces. At some point Ada had begun to do the same with hers.
Eventually she became better at doing it but she'd still get weird if she had to eat in front of others.
Ada throw her towel down on her bed. "I'll be fine". She picked up his jacket and tossed it to him.
He caught it and put in on. "not good enough I'll get you something at lunch okay". the chambers boy began to comb his hair.
'is there that much of a point in him combing his hair?. It's gonna go curly again in like a second'. She thought. "I don't want to you buy me something for lunch". The blond rolled her eyes.
"hey I'm ya boyfriend, I gotta make sure ya eat".
She felt her face soften. "well that's sweet". Ada walked up and hugged him from behind.
"it ain't sweet". Eyeball turned to her and swung his arms around her waist. He looked down at her and smiled a cocky smile. "like I said….. I'm your boyfriend, I'm doin' what I got to".
"and… what do you got to do?". she smiled.
But just say he was about to say…. The both of them heard the front door slam shut.
Ada signed. "looks like she's back". for a second she rested her head on his chest. "did you move your car down the street last night like I asked you?".
"yeah".
Right before they'd gone to bed the night before Ada asked the chambers boy to park his car down the street. So if Nora came back she wouldn't see it in the drive way. he didn't see much of a reason to, not believing she'd be back, but Ada insisted.
"yeah I moved it".
"good, now for out the window and I'll meet you down the street".
He nodded and jumped out of the window.
The blond girl throw her hat on, tossed her back pack over her shoulder and ran down stairs.
"Ada". Her mum nodded to her while passing her on the stairs. The shorter girl watched her walk in to her room and shut the door.
'oh I mum'. Ada thought sarcastically while rolling her eyes.
On the way to school.
"eyeball…I don't think that's a good idea".
"come on… it'll be fine. Just let me hold your hand".
"is this some guy macho my girl kind of a thing?".
He laughed. "what like marking my territory?".
"making sure all the guys know who's girl I am?".
"or….. I just wanna hold your hand?".
She watched him for a few moments before calling bullshit. "shove off". she laughed and smacked his shoulder. "you just want the school to know that I'm now a taken lady".
"fine…. I'd further have everybody see us together then to hear about us through the grape vine".
"Eyeball….. if no one wanted me while I was alone…. no body's gonna want me now. I'm still Ada bloom, the hot tempered loner".
"if you really believe that then you really have no idea how the male mind works to do".
"Eyeball come on".
"no really…. Guys my age…. The moment they find out you're a….. taken lady". He mimicked her. "their gonna be all over you. you just watch. It's gonna be like that hop scotch affect".
"do you mean the domino effect?".
"yeah the domino effect, what am sayin' is it only takes the once to be noticed".
"well I don't believe you".
"you don't believe me right now".
"I just don't know how to feel about….".
"us goin' public".
"well yeah".
"Ada…. By the end of the week everybody's gonna know any way".
"and how to figure that?".
" cos Billy know about us".
"yeah so does the others but why would he say anything?".
"because he wants to sleep with that Connie chick".
Ada stared at him, waiting for him to explain further.
"Connie….. she's a real big gossip ya see. Sooner or later Billy will crack and tell her, try to get her in to bed that way".
"you're kidding?".
"nope my friends pretty much suck".
"they really do, they really, really do". the green eyed girl slid down in her seat. "can ya try and talk him out of it at least?".
"I can but I don't see the point. He's been puttin' the moves on her for months now. and if thinks this will give him points…. he'll use them".
"damn it". she crossed her arms. "wouldn't it be easier just to kill him".
Eyeball laughed.
They came up to the school and parked.
"so…..". he looked at her and smiled. "can I hold you hand?".
The Castle Rock high hallways.
"he's not".

"that isn't".
"she's has a mean temper on her".

"what do they even do together?".

"who woulda though it".
"Ada Bloom and Eyeball chambers".
All the whispered hit them as soon as they walked in the door.
"how do you feel?". He asked her, leaning down.
"very overwhelmed".
"you'll be fine. Come on let's find the guys".
"ohh god".
He dragged her all through the hallways until they found the rest of the cobras. The gang were leaning up against the lockers closest to the English class rooms.
Ignoring all the stares they strolled up to them.
"holdin' hands in public now…. getting' serious". Ace raised his eyebrows and chuckled.
"what you guys got next?". Eyeball asked, wanting to distract his friends a little from his new found relationship. 'I ain't no dipshit. I knew that when me and her walked in to school people was gonna be staring at us. I knew askin' her to hold my hand in front of everybody was really my way of askin her to go steady with me, and lettin' everyone no it. I wasn't bullshittin' before, I meant what I said about all the guys in school thinkin about her now. it's just how the guys mind works. I saw several lookin' at her while we were walkin' in…. okay well that might have been just cos of me and her holdin' hands. But they was still lookin' at her. but….. I did know that would happen so I can't bitch about it that much. I also don't wanna hear all the shit I'm gonna be getting' from the guys. plus I don't want Ada to feel swarmed by'em. I don't want her to feel overwhelmed by'em. Even if I can get them distracted for a minute I'll be happy'.
"who's cares, you two do it yet?". Billy asked.
"hey, don't use us for sex. try to sleep with Connie another way". Eyeball hugged Ada from behind.
"come at least give me somthin' to take back to her".
"no".
"what so you get to have sex and I don't". Billy crossed his arms.
"first of all we don't have and shut the hell up". Ada whispered furiously, looking around to see if anybody heard that.
"and here we thought you weren't a proud". Vince snarked.
"and here I thought you weren't ugly". The boys chuckled and whistled. She looked up at her boyfriend who was still holding her from behind. "you ready to go to class?".
"don't you two wanna stay and hang out?". Fuzzy asked.
"yeah we was gonna ditch and go to the bar". Charlie said smirking at a small group of girl walking by them. "play a round of pool".
"it's not even 9:00 yet". Ada frowned at him.
"that don't stop the cobras". Bragged a stretching Mudgett.
Ada looked back at Eyeball.
"yeah I'm ready". Eyeball didn't bother saying bye to the gang. He turned with her still in his arms and walked while rocking side to side. Puppeting her down the hallway.
"will you quite it". she laughed ignoring all the stars from the shocked students watching the never before seen attraction.
