?Spoilers?

Yeet! Ahsoka's in the Mandalorian ladies and gentlemen and it's BEAUTIFUL! We got to see her again! *screeches happily* Anyway, sort of made this as a 'what if' scene before the Mandalorian takes place. Enjoy!

Ahsoka was smiling, her smooth hands trailing over the rough earth. To anyone else, the soil would feel barren and empty. But to her, it was bursting with life; seeds sent out flares of energy, the energy of living things, as they squirmed in the soil. Soon this planet would once again be covered in healthy vegetation, perhaps the locals would even open a trading center. For if they were to be believed, medical herbs had once grown here. Ahsoka withdrew her hands from the soil and placed them gently on her crossed legs. The small hut with the earthen floor and walls was humble, but she'd certainly lived in much worse. She stood to her feet, lifting her arms above her head to stretch out her aching muscles. It had been a while since she'd pushed herself like that, but the lightsaber training had done her good. No matter if the Empire had fallen, there were still a great deal of thieves and the occasional pirate who would take your credits without a second thought. There were still good people who might need help, she would be ready for them.

Deciding to focus her thoughts a little bit more, she moved to the entryway where a small satchel lay. She threw in the necessary food and water with a sleeping mat and blanket in case she decided to stay out past nightfall. She grabbed her cloak from the hangar and tugged it on, the soft fabric falling comfortably around her. Slinging the satchel over her shoulder, she paused by the door and turned around. There were her lightsabers, sitting harmlessly in the middle of the floor. After a brief hesitation, she grabbed them and attached them to her belt. It felt strange to go out without them, even if it was just a walk in the forest. Once she stepped outside, she inhaled a lungful of the clean air. It was refreshing not to take a big gulp of pollution every time she breathed. Securing the satchel more firmly around herself, Ahsoka began to run. When she was younger, she'd run from a lot of things. From the war, from the sorrow and the loss and the crushing guilt that made it nearly impossible to breathe. Now she was just running for the sake of the wind whistling by her lekku and the feeling of freedom. They were free, she was free; the war was over. After passing by miles of barren wood, she came across the oasis. A small pool of water with lush greenery and beautiful flowers, the perfect spot for meditation.

Resuming her cross-legged position from earlier, Ahsoka closed her eyes and began to breathe deeply. Her chest expanded and compressed in sync with the slow, steady beat of the Force. Like a drum or a heart, it beat in perfect rhythm and was the constant source of warmth and light in her life. "I am one with the Force," she murmured quietly, "and the Force is with me. I am one with the Force and the Force is with me. I am one with the Force and the Force is with me." Slow breaths, in and out, in and out. A peaceful hum filled the air with an almost inaudible buzz. There was a surge in the energy unexpectedly, a flare of light directly behind her. Ahsoka crinkled her closed eyes, brow furrowing slightly as she felt out the energy cautiously. There was something familiar about it, but it echoed with fathomless power. It pulsed and glowed like a living being; but it couldn't be alive. It seemed as old as the heavens, yet as new as a sapling first poking its head out of the ground. It's presence was cold and clear like the stars, but it was also warm and comforting. What was it?

"Ahsoka," her name rolled from it like a wave, echoing, filling her very soul. She shuddered, it felt strange...yet it was pleasant. "Ahsoka," this time her name was whispered, almost endearingly. Her eyes flew open, breath catching in her throat as she made an unintelligible noise. She knew that voice, she knew that presence; she knew him. Even so, she didn't dare turn to face him.

"No," the word slipped from her mouth before she could stop it. "No," she was trapped, pinned by the ever-present guilt she'd worked so hard to overcome. He couldn't be here, it wasn't him. Her head began to shake, the oasis blurring in front of her eyes. "No," her breaths were coming too fast, her whole body was trembling.

"Ahsoka," her name was a painful rasp, she sensed the presence moving closer. No no no no no no no no!

"I'm sorry!" She screamed, the words shattering the silence of the forest. "I'm sorry Anakin, I'm so sorry!" She wailed, crumbling in on herself until she was rocking back and forth; hugging her knees to her chest. "I—I should have saved you," she cried, the tears now springing to her eyes. "I should have been there for you, I—I should have—!"

"It's not your fault Ahsoka," his voice was quiet but determined. She just shook her head vehemently, clamping her hands over her lekku. "I'm the one who should be sorry." She froze, her teary eyes widened with disbelief as her hands dropped limply to her sides. "I wish I could go back, undo everything that happened. But it's too late now, I'm so sorry." Ahsoka slowly began to uncoil, her legs sweeping out until she was half-sitting up with her hands placed firmly on the ground as though she'd fall over with simply a touch.

"Anakin," she breathed his name quietly, as though by saying it he would disappear. It wasn't him, it shouldn't be possible.

"Hey Snips," his voice cracked and she spun around as fast as her body would allow. A glowing blue figure was crouched behind her, his body radiating pure energy. The same tousled hair, the knowing smirk and the scar that twitched when he laughed. The same kind blue eyes that had been shadowed with fear now shone with love. Not molten gold, blue...his eyes were blue.

"Anakin," she said his name louder, her hand moving toward him as though of its own accord. She pulled back hesitantly, doubt shining in her eyes. He reached out and grabbed her hand with his, a soft smile spreading across his face. "Anakin!" She flung her arms around his neck, pulling him into a tight hug. He hugged her back just as tightly, burying his face in the crook of her neck. Her body began to shake, tears of disbelief and joy and sorrow overflowing and falling down her face.

"I'm here Ahsoka," his breath seemed to catch as he held her even tighter. "It's okay, it's okay now." She clung to him, her sobbing turning guttural and she cried loudly into his robes. "I—" his voice gave out momentarily, "I thought I'd never see you again. I thought I wouldn't get to tell you how sorry I am, for everything."

"How?" She rasped, once she had control of her emotions. She pulled her head back and scanned his face, it was him. "How is this possible?" Anakin smiled tearfully, stroking her face as he would when he was alive.

"I was saved," his words were grateful, warming and affectionate. "I managed to overcome Vader, I was saved." He repeated it, almost as though he didn't believe it himself as he fondled her face. Ahsoka placed her hand on his, holding it to her. Anakin smiled, his thumb brushing the marking on her cheek. "Go to Coruscant," he began to stand up, his hand falling from her face. "Find Leia Organa, she will direct you to a young Jedi called Luke. Tell him my name, tell him you were my padawan." Ahsoka scrambled to her feet as Anakin began to walk away, a slow panic beginning to fill her. "He will tell you what you need to know. When the time comes, you must help him with his task." Anakin began to fade, the leaves and dead trees showing through his spiritual form.

"Master!" Her voice broke and he turned to face her, Ahsoka was trembling. "Don't go, not yet." He smiled sadly, she thought she saw tears shining in his eyes. "Please, I need your help, I need—"

"I will always be with you Ahsoka," he whispered, spreading his arms wide. "As sure as the Force is with you, so will I be with you." Her fists clenched as she fought the urge to run to him. To hold him, if only for a moment longer. Instead, she bowed deeply to him and felt the tears come again.

"Thank you Master," she rasped, "thank you."

"You're welcome, my padawan." As Ahsoka lifted her head, she knew he was already gone. She smiled broadly where Anakin had stood only moments before, even as the tears coursed down her face. She pressed her hand to her heart, which was a little bit lighter than before. He'd told her exactly what she needed to hear, she'd seen him; that was enough.

And how

Was I to know

I'm not strong

I should have saved you and

Oh

I hope you know

That you're my home

I'm gonna write it in stone

That you were my home

My home
