Tugging Boba down the brilliant white corridors, a sudden surge of pain from her companion caught Mliss's attention. Turning without stopping to look at Boba, it was obvious he was two shades paler than usual. Pulling sharply out of Mliss's grasp he groaned.
"Can we stop for a moment?" He asked pleadingly.
Without replying, she helped ease the young Fett to the floor. Impossible that the solution didn't work. It can't be what I thought it was, Mliss pondered confused. She was startled out of her thoughts by her comlink beeping.
"Mliss here..."
In the hallways
Captain Loso stared in horror as his young brothers began to sway then abruptly sat down, Pale and whimpering.
"Chisp!" The young trooper fell into his arms.
A well known fellow captain came up behind him."What the force is happening here." Rex burst out saying.
"Rex!" Loso said relieved, but not enough to banish his fear."I don't know, it looks like a relapse."
"Impossible, the serum should have fixed them. Mliss said it counters the effect perfectly. Also, no other clones have been affected."
As if on cue, Loso's comlink went off.
"Loso here."
The commander of the entire youth brigade program answered him.
"We have reports of every youth department coming down with a sort of relapse. I assume yours has not been excluded from this."
"No Sir, have you tried reaching Mliss?"
"Yes Captain but her comlink seems to be off." Rex noted his voice sounded a tad distasteful, "So I suggest, if you see her, you ask some very important questions." With that, the Commander signed off.
Frowning deeply Loso tried, rather foolishly, to reach the Jedi Master. To surprise avail.
"Mliss here..."
It took him a moment to register she was actually picking up.
"It appears," Loso said in his most captain-ish voice, "The entire youth brigade has had a relapse."
"Really?" She sounded interested and a tad disbelieving. Not a good sign.
"He was not."
"I assume One-Shot was not excluded from it."
Icily Loso replied, "Do you at least know what went wrong?"
"I think..."Mliss had quickly broken off in the middle of her explanation. A low murmur filled the com. If Loso hadn't known better, an insult not fit for a Hutt could have been mumbled.
Grimacing at the abrupt cut off, he waited a few more seconds before inquiring.
"General... are you still there."
"I need to go."
Something in her voice made him shiver. Fear welled up inside of him. Mliss did know what it was and it was serious, extremely serious...
With Boba Fett
No, no, no! It's impossible! Fear, not supposed to be felt by a Jedi, was now exploding within Mliss. Threatening to overwhelm her in a sea of darkness. No! She firmly told herself, Master Leshua taught me how to deal with this. Now I know why.
"Trooper, "She called out to a passing Clone.
"Yes Sir," From his voice Mliss could tell the news hadn't reached him yet.
"Take One-Shot to the medical room as quick as possible."
"Yes Sir,"
Taking a deep, controlled breath, Mliss straight out ran to her ship.
Siccitas
Plank looked out of the fine gap that was their view into the outside world. This, he thought, could not get any worse.
Sly was pacing, growing steadily more impatient. Finally, after holding it in for hours he blurted,
"You couldn't help but blow the rock BEFORE, you sent the signal!"
Instead of retorting, as he had for about the millionth time, he sighed then replied.
"Yeah, I wasn't really thinking."
Sly cocked his head, "You alright?"
"Yeah, I just haven't been getting much sleep."
"Well try to, if we're going to be stuck here for another day, you need to help us with training."
Smiling he nodded," Sounds good."
Kamino
Tapping a button on her wrist control she never ceased running. Never slowing Mliss bolted through the main door into the hall. Rapidly pressing buttons, she waited impatiently for the Jedi council to pick up. Moments later, the holographic image of the Jedi council materialized in front of her but before they could inquire she blurted the reason for the call.
"Masters, "She spoke carefully, "I have come to give you an update about the situation on Kamino."
Master Windu glanced at the other members of the council.
"I heard It was dealt with."
"In part, it has been. But I just felt that you should know the extent of the problem. It turns out that is part of the Angor Dolor virus but it is a mutated version that is far more deadly."
Master Yoda spoke up, "Help the Troopers can you?"
Mliss hesitated," I cannot while I'm here. I have a team on Siccitas who can grab what I need. I also called to ask your permission to do something."
"Dangerous is this?"
"Not in any way to the cadets."
Mace Windu was obviously doubting. "How will this help them?"
That is a well-placed question Mliss thought wearily. Carefully she prepared to give the unfortunate news.
" This variation is designed to wipe out the whole younger population. Anyone whose immune system isn't fully developed is affected. Within twelve hours of showing symptoms, they will die."
Mliss paused as shock radiated from each council member. Now the good news, she thought hopefully.
"Part of XYZ legion is closer than anyone else in the Republic but the distance between the points conclude in about 6hrs. One pilot from Kamino is going to leave to pick them and the goods up."
Master Kenobi spoke up," Do you truly believe they can get what is needed in 6hrs max?"
"No, Which is why I need your permission to give my life energy to the young clones when they need it."
"You know they won't reach you in the allotted time?" Kenobi asked.
"I have foreseen it."
Mace glanced at the other members of the council." You may help them but I suggest you do so as a last resort."
"Of course masters."
Signing off the hologram, Mliss immediately placed a call to Plank.
Siccitas
"Wait, wait, wait!" Plank called out.
"Come on! We're in the middle of practice!" Sly whined.
"My comlink."Plank said excited."Plank here."
Mliss's voice filled the speaker," Morning Plank, How are you doing out there?"
Now the time came for his utter embarrassment.
"Not well I'm afraid. We're trapped in a cave and running low on supplies."
"I can't come and help, unfortunately, but there is an old drop-pod at these coordinates."
With a slight whirr, the data was transferred to his datapad.
"Tell me what happened."
So Plank did.
(Authors note. This is going to be my last post for a while as I wait to see if this story is actually a good and gripping one. Please review If you like it in any way or think it needs work. Should I continue with Plank?)
