- I do not own anything,

only this! Sorry for the mistakes, the English is not my first tongue. -

TOO LATE...

- One.

Bonnie had arrived a little earlier, lateness was something she hated, so she always made sure to arrive early. Sitting at a table, she did not mind waiting, but after the hour they agreed by to meet. More than 15 minutes had passed.

19 minutes, that was the exact minutes that he, had made her wait.

In one hand a glass of Mantuano, in the other just at the level of the mouth, with the palm of the hand facing up, the fingers slightly bent, her second cigarette.

The thick white smoke kept her rambling in her thoughts, until she became aware of her guest.

Bonnie looked at her watch, 23 minutes late.

She lowered her gaze, inhaling what was left of her cigarette, without raising her eyes, she proceeded to crush the butt against the ashtray, extinguishing any evidence of its existence.

"Sorry for being late...". He apologized without having any remorse.

Bonnie looked up. Both of them had run into in that some gala parties given by common acquaintances, but this was the first time that the two had met Face to face.

She really did not yearn to appreciate his features, although she was able to notice certain things without giving much interest. He was recently bathed, dressed in a formal way, not very elegant, nothing to impress, like her.

She smiled without hiding the disgust she felt for him having made her wait. But she let it pass, she did not want to discuss the reason for him delay, although that did not stop her from sharing a scathing comment.

"I hope it's not a habit."

It was more a thought for herself than for him.

He was unfazed.

"It's not as bad as yours, I guess..." he answered while pinching the bridge of his nose.

An auspicious response from him, eliciting a less apprehensive look from her. The smell of nicotine with peppermint and something else lingered in the air, but he still couldn't make out the third smell.

She nodded, inviting him to sit in the chair across from her.

Klaus discreetly observed that, unlike her, he did decide to dress appropriately for this meeting, which is why he was late.

Instead, she kept a low-key image. Tired perhaps? He took his time to observe her, he did not care to detail her a little more... something told him, that she did not want to impress, as he expected her to do.

Bonnie was wearing an office suit, her hair half up. It was more than evident that she hasn't bothered to get ready. He easily deduced, since work she had come directly to this place, he thought.

Niklaus did not ignore the fact that she was drinking liquor something strong for a small woman.

The frustration was seen in each one of them. He with an attitude of arrogance, and she with insolence. She knew who he was, and he knew who she was, there was no need for introductions or greetings, They were not here to discuss their personal habits. They were not here for a have a pleasant chat. They had much more important reasons to speak of.

The discomfort in their eyes was more than obvious,

For a while nothing was said. The first to break the silence was Bonnie, she raised her right-hand gesturing to the waiter who had understood, disappearing inside the bar.

Even though none of them wanted to be here, they knew it was the most necessary. Before she started talking about why she had quoted him. Niklaus cleared his throat and started the confrontation.

His body expression, his tone of voice, the look he had was so full of superiority. There was no doubt about it.

Bonnie did not stop him, She took a sip, tasting the bitter taste of rum in her mouth, her gaze anchored on him. She relaxed in her seat and listened carefully to every word he had to say.

Klaus leaned in a little so that his forearms were on the table, his hands joined, a little thoughtful evaluating the way to start, he cleared his throat and his voice was heard as if what he was going to say was the worst of secrets. But it was simply an absolute truth that they already assumed.

However, Klaus needed her to listen to him. He needed to clarify any misconceptions as soon as possible to avoid a situation later. He did not know her very well, but she was young, and he did not want to deal with childish behaviors.

In this way there would be no overrated illusions or arguments to initiate something of which Klaus was unwilling to participate. It was easier that way, for this reason he gladly accepted the invitation.

"I will be frank with you... I did not accept your invitation to get to know you better, I am not interested in doing it, I have no reason that encourages me to do it, I do not want for any reason to establish a sentimental or emotional relationship with you."

His eyes never left hers, his words did not cause much emotion in Bonnie. She, just looked at him without reproach, she did not feel pain or wonder, but she realized for a moment... maybe a little uncertainty in his eyes? She thought for to herself.

both did not stop looking at each other even when a third approached them.

A pause.

The waiter came holding a drink for him. "good night!" was a simple greeting and left.

Klaus took his time and gave Bonnie a chance to speak, but she was completely silent, she didn't reply. She simply sat there, holding the glass in her hand, and drank without wrinkling her face, enjoying the taste of ron.

He kept watching her in silence.

What did he expect? Bonnie thought.

"Don't stop... something tells me you're not done, please go ahead," she encouraged him, and he continued to look at her.

"The agreement that our families have made is only strictly professional. At first, I did not agree, but after a while I have considered this to be a viable contract for both families to obtain great benefits at the 'labor level" he said with more emphasis on the last word.

"Still..., I don't share the idea that we'll both have to agree to such agreements and get involved in the way that our families want it. But Mrs. Bennett believes that this bond will strengthen the union of our companies. So... even though this marriage it is a compulsory condition, I am not going to take it personally, as I said at the beginning, I am not interested in you."

There was a certain accusation in his look. - was he accusing her of all this madness?' she thought disgusted.

She took a frustrated sigh and she curled her lips into a knowing smile. - Of course, he blamed her for this situation.

Bonnie tried to control herself not to start an argument that was not worth it.

She settled back in her seat and he adjusted his suit.

This time Niklaus focused his gaze on the table, took advantage of the fact that she was reluctant to participate in the conversation, and finished expressing his opinion.

"I must admit that I disagree with this, but it will be for a few years. Therefore, this marriage is just another matter. There will be no feelings or emotions involved. I will not make you happy and I will not be responsible for that. I know that you and I am obliged, so I want us to be very clear about it. Like any merger, I will try to be as professional as possible, we will only be partners, I will not be a husband or friend. If we both maintain limits and know our place in all this coexistence we can sustain it. I don't want there to be a wrong idea, or you expect my behavior to start an absurd illusion, because it won't be. I want the two of us to agree on this point. This is a contract, just that and nothing else... After the estimated time expires, we will divorce without any problem."

Klaus took a deep breath and ended by saying.

"I want this to be possible without any drama or complaint, and obviously I want everything to end as quickly as possible, for the good of both of us and of our families."

Bonnie was silent with her eyes on her glass. She finished drinking the last thing left. Bonnie had listened to each word without interruption, without contradicting him. Perhaps for someone else, it would have been a great offense. The contempt in everything he said was latent. But she couldn't blame him, she also despised him, maybe the same or worse.

She kept her gaze on him.

"Still we must maintain a compelling and discreet image for our divorce to end on good terms..."

Niklaus nodded.

"Ok... I agree with you." she said as she got up from the table.

Klaus looked at her suspiciously, but was not intimidated. a little more relaxed, he settled into his seat. He watched her behavior. She was not affected. Klaus imagined tears, crys, screams, insults, denial, a great tantrum, a threat ... maybe a slap in the face, but no. Therefore, he was silent, expecting more from her.

"I don't see the reason to continue with this meeting. We are both clear about what we want and what we do not want. So... have a good night, Niklaus Mikaelson." Bonnie ended the meeting.

Bonnie didn't want to argue anymore. She had accepted her fate the same way he had. There was no reason to extend this meeting any longer, none of them wanted to be polite and none of them interested in being polite. She was tired, she wanted to go, and she thought the same way he did. This meeting ended as she wanted. Bonnie planned to tell him the same thing, so why keep arguing about something they totally agreed on? Not to mention the fact that she didn't want to be here.

Bonnie walked around the table and before leaving turned to him,

"There is no need for this meeting to be known to anyone else. Please feel free to ask for what you want. After all, you are my guest. Good night."

Klaus said nothing. To say that he was not surprised was a lie... the attitude she had adopted certainly took him by surprise.
Niklaus waited a moment before leaving, he didn't want to meet her again, he just sat there, arms flexed, dropping the weight of his face on his hands, his vague gaze fixed on his drink as he ordered his thoughts.

The meeting was not as he imagined, on the contrary, everything had been better than he expected. Apparently she was not the girl he supposed. But still, he wasn't happy, even when she claimed to agree with him, that wasn't enough to satisfy him. Something was still bothering him.

Klaus expected a confrontation, perhaps a fight between them, that way he could vent his fury on her, but no.

After a while he took a deep breath, he didn't want to think about it. Niklaus would not waste his time on it, there was no need to focus on something so banal, the only thing he could think of was his contempt for her, he continued to hate her, in a way, he saw her as guilty.

Bonnie Bennett was to blame for all of this.
