Chapter 16
So as both of them were in desperate need for air, they finally drew away from each other and of course Lizzie now had a big smile on her face and was pretty happy that this big misunderstanding was out of the way for good. After some more silence between them Lizzie said: "Since I don't want to be late for dinner at home, I'll better get going now and I guess that I see you tomorrow then?" Then she kissed him on his right cheek and Gordo replied, also being very happy that they were able to make amend this evening: "Yes, we will see each other tomorrow and have a good night." She turned around one more time to face him as she stood at the door of Gordo's room and answered: "You have a good night too and I hope that I will be a big part of your dreams."
As always Gordo was hypnotized by that lovely smile from her, for a couple of minutes he just stared at the girl of his dreams and this moment was one of those were it felt so surreal that he really had that much luck to be able to call her his girlfriend. Lizzie couldn't but think how cute it actually looked when Gordo was busy with drooling over her a little bit and she couldn't resist and laugh as he had gathered himself again and said a little embarrassed: "Sorry for spacing out for a moment and of course you will be part of my dreams." Before she finally left Gordo's room the two hugged shortly and she blew him a kiss before she finally closed the door behind herself. In a very good mood she said her goodbyes to Mister and Misses Gordon and with the whole thing that had stood between her and Gordo she was sure of one thing as she made her way back home: Having survived this first big relationship crisis meant that this thing between them could last very long.
Back at the Gordon's house Roberta Gordon entered the room of her son, after she had politely knocked on the door and said: "I'm so happy that things between you and Lizzie are okay again, because you two are meant to be together." Gordo's mom then hugged him and he replied after they drew away from each other again: "Thanks mom and I really hope that something like that doesn't threaten to tear us apart again anytime soon." His mom then sits next to him on the bed right next to her son and said: "So are you looking forward to the first of High School?" Gordo didn't know how to reply to this question because his feelings were pretty mixed about that topic: on the one side he was happy that Miranda and Lizzie would be going with him to the new school but he was also nervous about entering this "uncharted territory" that High School was for him because everything would be so different from their time at Middle School.
"Yes I'm looking forward to the first day of High School a lot but I think it also will take some time to get used to the new environment. " Gordo finally choose to say and was happy to not be the only kid at High School, having his girlfriend and his long-time best friend by his side to support him the entire time would make it a little bit easier for him in the new school year.
Meanwhile Lizzie arrived back home and because she couldn't wait to tell Miranda the good news, she practically ran up the stairs to her room and just had the time to say a very quick "hi" to her mother before she disappeared out of sight again. Jo Mc Guire could only guess that the talk between her daughter and Gordo had gone really good and of course she was happy to know that Lizzie and Gordo didn't let this big misunderstanding rip them apart. As she stepped back into the living room Lizzie's dad muted the news on TV for a minute and asked: "So you think that everything is okay between her and Gordo again? " Of course Sam had been as much worried as his wife for the emotional well-being of their daughter after she had returned home crying from the first date with Gordo and he hoped that they had been able to figure things out between them.
His wife had a big smile on her face as she replied with not much hesitation: "I didn't really get the chance to talk about that topic yet but I know her well enough to say, that she and Gordo were definitely able to work things out and I'm so happy for them." With a lot of adrenaline in her blood Lizzie quickly grabbed the landline on her nightstand, dialed Miranda's number on speed dial and anxiously waited for her best friend to pick up on the other end of the line. Back at the Sanchez house Miranda and her family had just finished lunch, all of them were still pretty jet lagged so they didn't really register that the phone was constantly ringing upstairs in Miranda's room.
Miranda had just poured some lemonade into a glass as she finally heard her phone ringing, quickly she emptied the glass, rushed up the stairs to her room and picked up the receiver: "Hey chica, sorry for being so slow but I think that the jetlag has pretty much drained my power batteries."
Of course Lizzie kind of felt very sorry to bother her best friend at this late hour and then she said: "I don't want to bother you that long anyway; I just wanted to say that Gordo and I talked and you were right it was indeed a big misunderstanding." Even if she was pretty tired right now Miranda did manage to smile at that, very happy to know that her two friends had realized that this connection they had was very special before it was too late. "I'm very glad to hear that chica and don't worry about me, I won't feel as a third wheel but please don't kiss too much in front of me."
Both of the girls laughed in unison as Miranda said that and Lizzie replied jokingly: "We will try but I can't promise if I can keep my hands away from Gordo all the time."
