Chapter 17
The start of High School was just one week away and before that the John Meyers High School had invited all of their new pupils to an introduction event and the three amigos were looking forward to get to know the new school a lot but were also of course a little bit nervous at the same time. Lizzie kind of hoped that Miranda would maybe find her Mister Right in High School, because she definitely hated to see her friend as the third wheel and she was also willing to play a little bit matchmaker if it would be necessary. Lizzie was also pretty happy that things with Gordo were back to normal again, because the fight with him had been very awful and that wasn't something that she wanted to experience anytime soon again.
Since it was very sunny outside today, the three amigos had decided to meet up at Lizzie's house and enjoy the wonderful weather as much as possible outside in the big garden of the Mc Guire's residence and had brought along cold drinks that stood on a little table right next to their comfy lounge chairs. Of course the happy couple was very busy with holding hands the entire time, that of course didn't go by Miranda unnoticed and she somehow couldn't help but ask herself: Was she may be a little jealous of the luck they had or just sad that she hadn't found her Mister Right yet? Deep down she knew that the second option nailed her feelings right on the head at this very moment so to speak but she wasn't sure how to get her Mister Right. When it came to flirting she didn't have so much experience, even if she would never admit that to anyone not even her best friend Lizzie because that was the one kind of thing that she might be too embarrassed to be able to talk about. Miranda's thoughts were suddenly interrupted as Lizzie broke the silence as she said: "I don't know about you but I'm really excited about the introduction event at our new school and I'm really looking forward to meet some new people that might become our new class mates." Trying to put her negatives thoughts aside at least for now Miranda replied: "That little introduction event will be a lot of fun in my opinion and I'm happy that we are able to start this new chapter in our life together."
Gordo sipped on his lemonade before he said: "High School definitely wouldn't be the same without you two, but I'm also looking forward to meet some new people." Then the girls also grabbed their lemonade glasses and all of them took one sip after they had all said a short toast to the new school year, which would start in one week and would mean one thing: They had to get used to a lot of changes in High School. The time at Middle School of course didn't only had their advantages, while they would miss some of their now former class mates from Hillridge Junior High School the three amigos were pretty happy to also see some people never again: Claire, Kate and their large posse for example who had been very good in making their life at Middle School miserable. Middle School had been very adventures times, of course the trip to Rome would definitely be something that she would remember for a very long time and that was because of two things: Realizing that she had fallen in love with her long-time best friend and also singing in front of this huge crowd.
She and Gordo starting a relationship after all these years of her chasing after Ethan Craft in Middle School was something that she didn't expect to happen any time soon and now she had to ask herself: Why did it take her so long to realize that her Mister Right had been right in front of her the whole time? For a couple of minutes Lizzie, softly holding onto Gordo's hand just enjoyed the sun because silence wasn't always uncomfortable in her opinion. Then Miss Mc Guire stepped outside and said: "Hello Kids, glad you're enjoying the wonderful weather outside so much. What are your feelings about the fact that the start of High School is drawing nearer day by day?"
Like always Miranda and Gordo greeted Lizzie's mom in unison and Miranda was the first to say: "I think that I can speak for all three of when I say that we're certainly all excited about the start of High School but also a little bit nervous at the same time."
Lizzie just smiled at her best friend and said: "You nailed it right on the head there Miranda." The three of them had gotten to know each other so well, that they knew almost every time what the others were thinking regarding one specific topic. Miss Mc Guire couldn't help but stare for one short moment at her daughter and Gordo and as she saw those two holding onto each other's hands the entire time it reminded her of her first love back at the day when she was Lizzie's age. Of course it didn't go by her daughter unnoticed that her mother was kind of spacing out a little bit and so she said: "So you want to say anything else Mom?"
Being a little bit embarrassed for a second Jo Mc Guire recollected herself again and said: "Since your dad and I have spontaneously decided to go out on a little dinner date at our favorite Italian Restaurant and Matt is already over at Lanny's house you will have the whole house to yourself this evening." Lizzie couldn't resist but smile brightly at that good news and then replied: "
"Then I wish you two a wonderful evening tonight and thanks for informing me about that Mom."
Then Lizzie's Mom went back inside the house and in her head Lizzie was already busy with making plans for a romantic dinner with Gordo at her house.
"That surely is some good news for you two lovebirds isn't it?" Miranda finally said with a little smirk on her face and she knew that Lizzie was probably already very busy with making planes for a romantic date tonight. Lizzie couldn't help but blush for a second because of the fact that Miranda knows her thoughts all too well but after she recollects herself she replies: "I wish that I could say you were wrong but you're nailing right on the head and is it just me or does anybody else think that Miranda is secretly a mind reader?"
"I definitely think too that she is a mind reader and that's kind of scary." Gordo answered back with a big grin on his face and it didn't take very long for the three friends to laugh. The three amigos continued to talk for a couple for more hours before Miranda was the first to say: "I have to go now, still have some chores at home to take care of and so I wish you two a nice evening and we hear from each tomorrow."
"Bye Miranda." Lizzie and Gordo said in unison and as the two now were finally alone in the garden in front of the Mc Guires house, Lizzie couldn't help but leave her chair and softly climb onto Gordo's lap, who surely was surprised by that move for a second but then he smiled at her and as the faces of the two lovebirds were just inches apart from each other Gordo just stroke his girlfriend's right cheek and got lost in her wonderful eyes for a long moment.
Meanwhile Miranda was about to reach her house when she saw a unfamiliar face in front of one of the houses that had been empty for quite a while and because she couldn't really see if it was a guy or a girl she finally decided to step a little bit closer. Probably because of the fact, that the person had heard the footsteps he/she turned around and greeted her with a smile: "Hey neighbor." Miranda was a little perplexed for a moment as she could see now that a pretty handsome guy was standing right in front of her and so it took a while for her to come up with something to say.
"Hello, I haven't seen you around before since when do you live here?" She asked after she had recollected herself again. Ryan couldn't help but also think how cute the girl in front of him looked and he replied back: "I just moved here a week ago with my parents, but we have been pretty busy with moving our stuff from Cleveland to Hillridge most of the time so that means with our flat still being pretty empty we have spent most of the time at the guest house of one of our friends."
