Chapter 30

Miranda and Ryan were the first to arrive at the Mall, Miranda trying her best to do some casual small talk while they were waiting for Lizzie and Gordo to arrive, as she kind of would have hated to just sit there in silence for a while and stare at each other and the people that were sitting around them in this nice italian restaurant. „It is really hard to choose what to eat, because in my opinion a lot of the meals on this card sound delicious."

Miranda said as she looked through the menu card and deep down hoped that it wouldn't take Lizzie and Gordo any longer to get here, as the butterflies in her stomach got the better of her as more time passed by even if she tried her best not to get that nervous around Ryan. Focus Sanchez! You can't embarass yourself in front of this cute guy or you will never be able to look him in the eyes again.

„Yes that's right and if the food really tastes that good, as they present it on the menu card I think that I've already found my new favorite restaurant." After doing a lot of thinking, he had been able to narrow it down to two meals but since they wanted to wait for Miranda's friends to arrive, he didn't have to rush his decision. „How do you like your new school so far?"

Miranda asked as she wanted to keep the conversation going between them and wanted to learn a little bit more about Ryan. Sure, it was a nice thing that he had instantly connected with Lizzie, Gordo and Miranda but even if he didn't leave good memories behind at his old home, he missed so much things from San Francisco and it would take some time to feel at home here in Hillridge.

„I like it so far, as I met some more nice people like you, Lizzie and Gordo but I also still miss my friends back in San Francisco a lot who I try to call as much as possible."

She didn't know how but deep down, Miranda had the feeling that this sadness in his voice wasn't just because of the fact that he missed his friends so much and that there was something else that still bothered him a lot. Yes, she and Ryan had got along pretty good so far but the truth also was that it wasn't her business to ask him about the personal problems that he might have burried deep down in his memory. For now she needed to put those thoughts aside and wanted to concentrate on just being a good friend to Ryan:

„I can only imagine how hard it must be to leave all your friends behind all over sudden and move to another city where you don't know anybody, but I'm sure that they will be able to come and visit you from time to time to talk in person instead of just on the phone.

„Yes, but in the mean time I can spent some time with you guys and then it will be „the four amigos" instead of just three." Ryan answered with a little smile on his face and right at that point Miranda was glad that she was in a sitting position at this moment, because she didn't think that her weak, which had become so weak in a hurry would have been able to hold her in a standing position. She smiled back at him, as she had quickly recollected herself and hoped that he hadn't noticed anything of her weird behavior. Before she could say anything else, Lizzie and Gordo arrived at the Restaurant and of course Miranda got up from her seat to hug her two long time friends before Lizzie said:

„We're so sorry to be late, as we kind of lost track of time a little bit but I hope that you two had a good time so far without us."

„Me and Miranda got to know each other a little bit better, while we waited for you and Gordo to arrive. I don't know about you but I'm starting to get hungry, so I think we should order as we are now complete." Lizzie agreed with Ryan regarding the suggestion to order now, so she looked for the next free waiter to take their order, as she already knew what to eat because of the fact that she had been to this restaurant a couple of times in the past. Of course Lizzie didn't want to rush anything, but it was quite obvious to her that Miranda and Ryan had got along very well so far, as they were laughing a lot together as the four of them talked about various things that came to their minds while they were waiting for their meals to arrive.

„So how's everything going so far with school? You already have some subjects you love and totally hate?" Miranda asked after she had taken a short sip from her drink, definitely enjoying every minute she had with that cute guy so far and right now she felt kind of like she was floating on Cloud Nine, no matter how cliche that might sound but girls just were like that when they had fallen in love with a guy.

„Except from Math I think that all of the other subjects are good so far, but I guess that you can't be good at everything right?" Deep down Lizzie knew that Miranda would be a little bit too shy to make that suggestion, because she knew from experience how nervous her best friend always got around guys and so she decided that it was for the best to take matters in her own hands:

„I know how complicated Math can be, but maybe Miranda can tutor you a little bit because even if maybe wouldn't admit it I think that she's pretty good at it."

It was obvious that Miranda was surprised by Lizzie's move but instead of letting that show too much with her body language, she tried to cover up the fact that she felt pretty akward at this point by replying with her best faked smile on her face:

„She's right, if you want to we can look together through the Math stuff that makes you problems after school and I'm hopefully able to make it a little bit less confusing."

AN: I guess that means that Lizzie's plan to get Miranda & Ryan together has officially started. Will Ryan accept Miranda's tutoring offer?
