Chapter 32

The same day at the late evening, Ryan sat alone in his room watching some TV but was barely paying attention to the current program, as he was somewhere else with his thoughts: he was still thinking a lot about the wonderful time that he had with his new found friends Miranda, Lizzie and Gordo. It looks that I've worried too much about being able to make some new friends in Hillridge and maybe all this distance between me and Sarah will make it a lot easier for me to put our failed relationship to rest once and for all. After finding out for the first time that his dad had taken a job in a little town called Hillridge, he had been devasted to hear that because that meant that he had to leave the girl, that he thought was the love of his life at that time and all his longtime friends but one day had changed his whole perspective in a big way.

Flashback

Because of the fact that Ryan was kind of a genius when it came to chemistry and Pete didn't understand one thing that their chemistry teacher explained during the period, Ryan always took it upon himself to explain everything that they had learned in an easier way than Mister Reynolds did. „Even if you maybe still think otherwise, I really still think that you would make a great teacher. "

Pete joked and had a huge grin on his face, what resulted in Ryan having to grin too in return as a reaction to this beloved running gag between the longtime friends.

„This joke never seems to get too old for you, does it? "He asked and just got a nod in return as Pete still had a hard time keeping up a straight face at this point. He waited a while for his best friend to get his act together again, so that they could focus on the important stuff again and that was finishing this chemistry worksheet that was their homework for today.

„Okay now that you've got that out of your system, it's time to get to the more advanced part of this worksheet, where I need your full concentration on as I don't want to repeat myself over and over again." Yes, he liked to help his fellow students in some subjects that they struggled in but he couldn't see himself in a classroom with about twenty five pupils in it and teaching them chemistry or math's for example.

Later that day the two friends decided to both order their favorite sandwiches at Subway after finally having finished the chemistry worksheet. They had almost reached it, when Ryan stopped out of nowhere and of course Pete wondered what the reason behind the sudden change in his behavior was. As he looked in the direction where his good friend was looking at, he could clearly see what caused Ryan's sudden mood change: There she was, Sarah and her new boyfriend standing at the cash desk holding hands.

End Flashback

As quickly as this image had made its way into his mind, he banned tried his best to make it go away again, as this wasn't something that he liked to think off a lot. Maybe I did fall in love at first sight, like I did with Sarah when we first met but right now, I know one thing for sure: I'm not ready for a new relationship yet. Of course, he was looking forward to being tutored by Miranda, as he was thankful for all the help that he could get with school stuff but for now they would just stay friends and nothing more.

Meanwhile in the Sanchez house, Miranda was in the middle of eating dinner but was also busy with thinking about the fact that she would be tutoring her newest crush very soon and how she would be able to handle all this anxiety without embarrassing herself in front of Ryan. Being aware of my track record when it comes to me trying my best act cool around the guy that I have crush on, I have to say that it is easier said than done when it comes to the task of not embarrassing myself in front of Ryan. At the end she just hoped that she would able, to not let the pressure get to her that much even if that would be easier said than done, but if she didn't succeed then she wouldn't be able to face him ever again.

Even if it already was late, Lizzie and Gordo still had a hard time letting each other go home, as one of them always pulled the other back into his or her grip for another quick kiss and that already had the tendency to become something like a ritual between the two lovebirds. As the two were so busy with enjoying each other's company, they both didn't notice that both their parents were secretly watching this from their houses and couldn't help but smile at this whole scene unfolding in front of them.
