Soooo Handy
The next day, Nagisa wasn't in school, which was suspicious on a whole other level. Karma wanted to watch him every second of everyday, because there was something going on, and he was going to figure out what. That was hard to do when the cause of the suspicion wasn't even in school.
Also, it would've been nice to know that Nagisa went through the same torture every one else did, when this Bitch, (literally what the students had started calling her) walled in like she owned the place. Actually, this was even better, because Nagisa would have to endure a personal greeting tomorrow, being the only one who would need it.
Nagisa could not be bothered with this right now. He'd wanted to be a mage, so he learned how do magic. He's more accustomed to fire magic, cause' y'know, some people just want to watch the world burn, but he's dabbled with healing magic every now and then.
He's kicking himself, because healing magic would be soooo handy right now, but he's a novice at best. He has to wait days anyway, because healing magic can't grow back limbs, or more specifically, eyes, quick. What's more is how bad he is at using it. So he has to wear an eyepatch (yes, like a pirate) for the next few weeks.
And right now he's being bombarded with questions about what happened to his eyes, and the words "I have an infection and it'll take a couple of weeks to heal" are getting a little repetitive. At least it proved that he was at the doctors yesterday.
In reality, he was out... doing stuff to white sheets. He'd broken in to what he assumed was a government building, and had been shot right there in the eye. Hurt like a bitch, but he accomplished the challenge. He may not have been good at using healing spells, but he'd put extra effort int clairvoyance when trying to become a mage. It was handy.
Nagisa has to admit, it was pretty funny when he walked into a classroom with a new blonde teacher wearing clothes that... exposed too much, with an eyepatch and looking like a corpse (because he didn't sleep last night, at all). The confusion on her face was priceless.
"Why are you wearing an eyepatch?" She asked, in a tone that told him everything he needed to know about her. Thinking she's better than everyone else and doing a shitty job at hiding it. She's lucky It's just an injury, and not a condition from birth, like some people have, because that question was rude, even by his standards.
So after the questions and more questions piling up on each other, each laced with their own special kind of concern and worry, he got chatting to his classmates, and ultimately decided yesterday was the worst day to miss school, because, damn did that bitch get put in her place, from what he heard.
Nagisa felt Karma's eyes burning holes into the back of his head, because nothing, absoloutly nothing, gets past this guy, and, strangely enough, maybe Nagisa's acting skills aren't as great as he thought.
"So, I was wondering, do you want to come with us to hang out at this new café we found, it's supposed to be really good, and you never hang out with us anymore" Sugino asks, and Nagisa applauds how forward he is, even with Karma's glare now attaching itself to the boy in question. It clearly made Sugino want to shut himself.
Speaking of, why was Karma glaring at Sugino like he just ate his last gelato? (lololololol - Nagisa). He should be careful, people might think he wanted to make plans with Nagisa, or he was was getting jealous of someone. (lolololol - Nagisa again)
"Yeah, sure, why not?" He answers, feeling the corners of his eyes scrunch up to really give away the smile, because god knows he doesn't mean it. He wanted to put more effort into healing his eyes. By put more effort into healing, he means sleeping, because he'll let his body do that for him, with the added magic boost.
"That's great, can I come too?" An unnaturally cheery voice rings out from behind them, the smile looking scarily like a smirk, and red hair eerily like blood. It for the moment, if Nagisa was being honest. He inwardly groaned. Sugino looked taken aback, but it quickly changed from surprised to happiness in its purest form, like a kid on Christmas. Nagisa thinks it's cute. (nohomo).
"Sure!" There's a hint of a voice crack, but Sugino covered it up like a true man. He's slowly gaining Nagisa's respect, maybe because he feels closest to him, maybe because he hates himself. He doesn't really care.
"Who else is going?" Karma's slowly losing his respect, because he's getting annoying now. Nagisa thinks Karma realises, because the red-head smirks even more, and it pisses him off. Smug bastard, always poking his nose into other people's plans. He wants to go out with his friends and have fun, was that so much to ask?
He pouts, glossing over the fact that before he didn't even want to go. But he'll spite Karma every chance he gets.
"Us three, Kaede, Rio, Isogai, Yukiko, and I thinks that's it" Karma doesn't deserve the smile Sugino gives at the end. All of a sudden, Nagisa can't wait for tonight, because it's gonna be the worst night of Karma's life.
Of course it starts raining, because god wants to piss him off every chance he gets. And of course, he gets a message from the system saying he has a new compulsory challenge. Make Karma Akabane your ally. As he does. Nope, no flaws in this plan at all. Apart from a minor one.
He fucking hates that nosy prick.
So now, they're all walking in a group towards this "great" café, that's almost definitely not going to be as good as he thinks, and definitely not worth it. Then, it starts raining cats and dogs (He's always wanted to use that phrase), and he's the only one here without a coat.
His hair's getting all wet, the rain and cold is slowing down the healing, and Karma won't stop 'discretely' grinning at him. It's starting to make him uncomfortable. They start to fall behind when Nagisa stops and turns to him, arms crossed as though he was having a temper tantrum. He hates being small.
"What?" And this time he actually cares about the response, because the staring is annoying him. Karma grabs something in his pocket, presses a button and an umbrella pops up. He's still grinning like a maniac, and Nagisa open his mouth to protest as the rain stops wetting his hair. No words come out.
Now he's sharing an umbrella with Karma. Did the other mistake their temporary teamwork in trapping the octopus a friendship. Nagisa hopes not, because he can't stand this idiot.
"Challenge: Make Karma Akabane Your Ally"
Well shit.
