Kill It With Fire

Nagisa can't sleep tonight, because the window's open too wide, and the curtains blow in his face, but if he closes it, he gets too hot. So he opens the curtains, and suddenly the room is bright from moonlight, but he's sensitive to light when he's asleep. He gives up and goes to make himself some warm milk.

But a nine year old should never be trusted with a microwave, a cup and a bottle of milk at three in the morning. The bottle's almost empty now, because he's been pouring too much into the cup, then he knocks the cup off the side, sending milk

and bits of porcelain scattered across the floor. The microwave just watches, probably mocking him. It's a surprise he hasn't woken mother up yet, but that's probably because of how hard she's been working recently, to support the three of them. His breath hitched when a light turns on in the hall, but he lets it out when he realises who it is.

"Uncle, what are you doing?" He asks innocently, trying to kick some of the cup shards under the counter. He realises there's not much he can do to hide the milk, so he looks down guiltily.

"Well, I did come down to bash out the brain of a burgerler, but now it's to clean up the mess you've made" He smiles and pats Nagisa on the head awkwardly, making him giggle. He's sure he heard his Uncle add a quiet "lol" to the end of his scentence.

"Also, I thought I told you not to call me uncle, I'm only four years older than you" Oh right, that did, in fact, happen. Nagisa smiles and mutters a little sorry under his breath.

Big brother isn't wrong. Nagisa has heard mother tell the story of her childhood countless times, how when her brother was three years old, and she was fifteen, she left home because grandma and grandad were mean and strict. She had Nagisa and named him after her brother, because she thought she'd never see him again. Then when Nagisa turns eight, Big brother turns up asking her to help him out, since he's too young to get his own house.

They welcome him with open arms, because he's family, and Nagisa has always wanted a big brother anyway."I'll clean this up, and then I'll make you some hot chocolate, 'Kay?"Nagisa loves his big brother.

"You look too much like him!"She says, throwing a dress at him, and telling him to put it on. Nagisa realises that he looks nothing like Big Brother with a dress on, so he does, because he doesn't want to remind mother of what she's lost, and maybe himself.

He hopes he grows up to look like a girl, for her.

He doesn't actually want that, but for her, he will.

He doesn't want to, but he does anyway.

For her.

It rains on the day of the funeral, but Nagisa thinks he can beat the rain, because he's crying more. Not many people came, just him, mother, and some close friends.

He doesn't want the coffin to go into the ground, doesn't want Brother to sleep for too long. It's silly, because he's thirteen now, and he knows what death is. But knowledge and acceptance are two different things, so he tells him to wake up anyway.

Big Brother stays asleep, and mothers getting annoyed at him now. She gets annoyed easily recently, and Nagisa knows why. He hates, he hates, he hates the person who took big brother away from him. Who took his Uncle away.

He'll kill them.

The gravestone says "Here lies Nagisa Shiota, Beloved brother and uncle", and Nagisa knows that he'll come here tomorrow and write big brother in the corner with sharpie. Big brother would like that, and it's the least he can do.

Mother leaves without him, and he realises that he'll have to walk home in the rain anyway, so he mourns a little longer.

BEEP BEEP.

He doesn't know what that it, but it's annoying

BEP BEP.

That was pitiful.

BEEP BEEP BEEP.

NEW CHALLEGE: KILL THE PERSON WHO TOOK HIM AWAY TO GAIN EXPERIENCE. KILL AKIRA TAKAOKA. ACCEPT?

"Accept"

He doesn't know what's going on, but he knows an opportunity when he sees one. He'll find the man that burned the building big brother was in down, and he'll kill him with fire.It was perfect.

Leave it to a fucking octopus to stop him from being able to use that fire. (He's still not over it)

"-sa, Nagisa!"

He startles awake, wiping his eyes and feeling an annoyingly familiar nausea creeping up on him. Travel sickness. He's on a train. The yellow blob is gripping onto the side of it, because that's normal, and Nagisa doesn't care to make any sarcastic comments, because he's too tired.

Karma's staring at him from beside him, and he wonders when he got there, if he hasn't been there the entire time. He's giving off creepy stalker vibes right now.

"Wat?"

Did he even say that right? He doesn't care, he's tired.

"We're almost there, we need to take care of a few things" Karna says knowingly, and Nagisa wishes he knows too, then reality hits him like a train (pun intended), and he doesn't know whether to smile or give a look of annoyance.

There are three male students from another school tied up in the back of a train because they decided to harass some girls from 3-E. Nagisa's never been the heroic type, but class 3-E is his class to mess with, not anybody else's.

So they go and sort out their problem, tell the guys that if they speak of this to anyone they'll hunt them down and kill them, and hope it doesn't come back to bite them in the ass. It probably will, but Nagisa thinks he should cross that bridge when they come to it.

Now, Karma is gone, probably to mess with 3-E, and Nagisa doesn't mind, because Karma - and only Karma - is allowed to do that. The only problem is, Nagisa is left alone with octopus, which is rare, and, octopus being octopus, takes this opportunity to get to know Nagisa.

And Nagisa has an act to keel up. He hates his life.

"So, well done on the test, you did pretty well, I'm proud, fufufu"

Oh god, small talk, the most horrifying torture method. What did he ever do to deserve this?

"Thanks"

And then he gets an idea, because Octopus is a teacher, and teachers give advice. And Nagisa needs advice right now, because when you can see through lies, you tend to notice the lies more.

"Koro-sensei, what would you do if you found out someone you trust was lying to you"

So.eone he trusts meaning Kaede, but he glances up at the box above Octopus' head, and reads the description. "Human". That's not suspicious at all, despite being told that this guy was an alien. Octopus looks pale, like somebody has found something out. They have.

"Uhhh, confront them about it?" So the octopus wants to know if he's the one caught for lying, eh? Well, now's not the time.

"Ok, I'll do that" The octopus visibly relaxes, and Nagisa can't wait, because this is what you call a fleeting sense of safety. He'll confront him soon enough.

BEEP BEEP.

NEW CHALLENGE: KILL THE KIDNAPPERS.

What The fuck?

I had a massive problem with this chapter, because this app is stupid, and I've had problems before where I've saved a chapter, gone back on it, and all of the writing I've done (around an hour's worth) is just gone.

Any way, all of the italics paragraphs turned into one big block of writing and the spaces disappeared, so I had to go through it and add the spaces.

Also, I'm sorry, cause I added my own backstories for characters that already had them, and I know sometimes that pisses people off. Please don't be mad at me.

So, Nagisa has an uncle, but due to the age gap, or lack thereof, he calls him big brother instead. Takaoka killed him, and Nagisa, who had just started getting abused by his mother, was in a distressing situation. Then the game started.

Just to clear that up lol
