Dan and Shun vs Masquerade Revamped
Setting the scene:
There are two unopened Gate Cards Side by side. Skyress is on the left one and Drago and Hydranoid are on the right one. No other Bakugan are on the field. Dan and Shun have 2 of 3 losses while Masquerade has 1 of 3 losses
"Ability Activate! Chaos of the Darkness!" Masquerade shouted with a pleased smirk as he threw the ability card up high into the air, causing dark grey clouds to suddenly form. They sailed around a black, void-like spot right above Hydranoid. From it, purple lightning suddenly struck down on him, crackling around his body as a mass of purple energy formed in his mouth. He stared down Drago as he shot out the crackling purple orb, a shockwave forming behind it as he did so.
The orb barreled towards the hovering Dragonoid, beginning to bathe him in a purple light, but he remained unphased as his green eyes looked to Dan. With a nod of his head and a smile, he held out an ability card.
"Ability Activate!" Dan yelled out as the ability card opened up, showing a picture of a Dragonoid firing a large fireball.
"Boosted Dragon!" Drago cried out as a mass of fire formed in his mouth. With a mighty roar, he launched the fireball, colliding with Hydranoid's attack in a flash of light, causing a powerful burst of wind to batter the three humans.
Dan placed his arm over his eyes to try and shield himself from the powerful wind as he watched the two attacks clash with each other. Much to his dismay, it was evident Hydranoid's was stronger, slowly pushing back the massive fireball. He brought his other arm up and looked at the red-trimmed Bakupod strapped on his wrist.
Dragonoid power level at 440 G's, Hydranoid leads with a 10 G advantage. A feminine robotic voice spoke.
"Crap!" Dan exclaimed as he looked at the screen. "It's not powerful enough!"
"Hehehe!" Masquerade chuckled as his spikey blonde hair was being blown around by the strong winds. "Drago stands no chance against the most powerful Bakugan!"
"That's right!" Hydranoid bellowed. "A weakling such as yourself could never hope to match me, let alone defeat me!"
"Pah!" Drago spat. "If you think that's all we've got then you're in for a rude awakening Hydranoid, isn't that right Daniel!" Drago bellowed as he pushed the fireball forward as hard as he could, halting it from being pushed back.
"That's right buddy!" He yelled back as he outstretched his arm out. "Gate Card open!" He cried out as he pulled his arm up, causing the large black card under Drago and Hydranoid to glow as fire began to shoot up from the ground, causing Drago to start to radiate a crimson aura. "This'll pump his power-up by an extra 50 G's!" Dan continued as Drago's fireball became larger, beginning to push Hydranoid's attack away this time.
Masquerade only smirked as he saw Drago's power level rise to 490 on his visor. Reaching for his back carrier box, he pulled out a green ability card with an X shape in the middle of it between his index and middle finger.
"What a pitiful attempt!" Hydranoid scoffed. "This is mere child's play! I'll show you real power!" He roared as he looked over at Masquerade.
"Yes Hydranoid, I'd have to agree." He responded calmly as he pulled his arm back, ready to throw the card. "I could beat this in my sleep! Fusion Ability Activate! Destruction Buster!" He declared as he threw the card into Hydranoid's attack, causing it too to grow larger, now easily pushing back Drago's assault once more as the card below them stopped glowing and the fire disappeared as it turned grey.
"W-what?!" Dan asked in shock as he looked back at his Bakupod.
Hydranoid's power level increased to 550 G's and Dan's Gate Card has been nullified, bringing Dragonoid back down to 440 G's
"N-no.." Dan uttered, his eyes wide with terror. "D-Drago's going to lose…" His voice was meek as he uttered the words.
"So, what will you do now Dan?" Shun asked coldly, his gaze burning into the young boy. "Are you just going to give up?"
That last question echoed throughout his mind as stared up at Drago who was giving it all he had, trying to fight back against Hydranoid's attack with all of his might.
"Give up?" He asked in a more invigorated tone as he pulled out another ability card from his front pocket. "Drago's out there giving it all he has, how can I give up if he hasn't?!" Dan questioned as he held his head up, his eyes showing a new energy as he threw the card into Drago's fire attack. "Fusion Ability Activate! Melt Flare!"
Shun gave a content smirk as a new wave of fire gushed out of Drago's mouth, covering Hydranoid's attack in flames as they continued to clash, causing the ground to shake. Both Hydranoid and Drago gave mighty roars as sparks of purple lightning and crimson embers began to fly off in every direction, erupting in a blinding flash of light. All three humans looked away as they held their arms up over their faces to shield themselves from the light, slowly looking back as the light dissipated to see Hydranoid sparking purple orb heading straight for Drago. Dan looked at his Bakupod with a twisted face of worry.
Dragonoid power level to 540 G's, Hydranoid still leads with a 10 G's advantage
"So this is it…" Dan's voice trailed off as he closed his eyes, looking away from the two behemoths.
"Now Shun!" Skyress called.
"I'm on it Skyress!" Shun called back as he quickly threw an ability card at Drago. "B-!" His words were drowned out as Hydranoid's attack erupted into a cloud of dark grey smoke.
Dan opened his eyes, slowly turning his head to see the fading cloud of smoke, and as it cleared, Drago was nowhere to be seen. He felt his stomach drop once he saw his friend wasn't there.
"Drago!" Dan cried out as a tear formed in his eye.
"I'm right here Daniel!" He bellowed back, causing Dan to look over, seeing Drago on the adjacent card with Skyress.
He put his hand to his chest as he felt a wave of relief wash over him, though confusion soon took hold. "Wait, how'd you get over there?!" He asked with a cocked head.
"That was Shun's doing!" Drago explained as he looked at the raven-haired boy who just crossed his arms in indignation. "He used Blow Away to move me here!"
Dan looked to Shun with a relieved smile.
"Thanks old pal, I guess I owe you one." Gratitude permeated his voice as he spoke. "So does this mean we can be a team again?" He asked with hopeful optimism as he outstretched his hand for a handshake.
"For this one battle," Shun responded, ignoring Dan's outstretched hand. "I can't stand this Masquerade creep anymore than you can, there's no way we can beat Hydranoid one on one, so we have no choice but to team if we want to win."
Dan pulled his arm away with a chuckle. "That's just like you man. I wouldn't expect anything else honestly." He replied with a friendly smile.
"Yes Shun, I knew you'd come around eventually, somebody like you has no business teaming up with this villainous cretin!" Skyress called.
"Tch! I just need to know if Dan had the will to fight till the very end, now at least I can trust he's still competent!" Shun responded back.
"Whatever the case, you have my gratitude, Shun, and Skyress!" Drago chimed in.
Masquerade chuckled as he gazed upon the battlefield. "So be it, I'll just send both Drago and Skyress to the Doom Dimension!" He told all four of them in a supremely confident tone.
"Oh yeah?!" Dan cockily questioned. "Even if you did have the power to do that, we're on two completely different Gate Cards. Hydranoid can even touch them." He jeered with a satisfied smirk.
Hydranoid gave a deep throaty laugh at Dan's statement. "It doesn't matter where you are!" Hydranoid roared. "As long as you're on the battlefield, you both are goners!"
"He's right Dan!" Masquerade shouted as he held an ability card up. "It truly doesn't matter if you're on Hydranoid's Gate Card or 100 Gate Cards away! Ability Activate! Gravity Chamber!" He yelled as a black and purple tornado began to form around Hydranoid.
Both Drago and Skyress felt themselves being pulled towards Hydranoid, Drago dug his clawed feet into the ground and Skyress beat her powerful wings as hard as she could, but it was no use, they were still being dragged.
"W-whats going on?!" Drago bellowed as he tried his best to break away to no avail.
"I-I can't b-break free!" Skyress screeched.
"Ahahaha!" Masquerade laughed. "That's the effect of Gravity Chamber, it pulls all of the opponent's Bakugan on the field to Hydranoid's Gate Card, and then those with a lower G power than him automatically lose!"
"Oh no!" Dan cried as he raised his hands back over his face to try and fight off the wind being generated by Hydranoid's ability. "A-are you gonna lose?!"
"S-shun! Do it now!" Skyress screamed as she felt her wings start to give out.
"G-Gate Card O-Open!" He yelled as he outreached one of his arms. "Battle Sham!"
The gate card under Drago and Skyress opened in a flash of light, causing Hydranoid to be blown back, turning into purple energy as he condensed into ball form, flying to Masquerade. He caught Hydranoid with a confused expression, unable to process how his powerful Hydranoid could have been defeated.
"What happened?!" Masquerade demanded angrily as Drago and Skyress turned into red and green energy respectively and condensed into ball forms, flying to their brawlers as they caught them with ease as both gate cards faded.
"That was Battle Sham. When two Bakugan who are on the same team are on the same Gate Card it lets you defeat one of the opponent's Bakugan!" Shun explained with a pleased smirk. "And that marks your second loss, you lose one more time and you lose this!"
"Hump!" Masquerade huffed. "I could say the same for you two, if you lose you're out of the game as well, and I'm more than confident that I can take you both down!"
"You really think so Masquerade?!" Dan asked as he pulled out a gate card. "This isn't going to be as easy as you think it's gonna be! Especially with me and Shun working together!" He warned as he wound his arm back, ready to throw the gate card. "Gate Card Set!" He yelled as he threw the gate card.
Landing on the ground it turned a bright red as it expanded massively, becoming as big as a parking lot.
"You can only beat me with petty tricks!" Hydranoid hissed. "You stand no chance against me in raw power, and to prove I'm so far above the both of you, I'll happily battle on your Gate Card, and crush you!"
"As you wish Hydranoid," Masquerade responded calmly as Hydranoid closed himself and Masquerade took him and placed him in his launcher. He wound his arm back, then thrust it forward as Hydranoid shot out. "Bakugan Brawl!" He exclaimed as Hydranoid popped open on the large black card. "Darkus Hydranoid Stand!"
Hydranoid roared as he materialized, causing the ground below them to quake.
Darkus Hydranoid recognized at 450 G's, awaiting other brawlers.
"You're gonna regret taking us so lightly!" Dan shouted as he placed Drago into in own launcher, and with a swift movement of his arm Drago shot out onto the black card. "Drago stand!" Dan shouted as Drago materialized, stretching his wings as he too gave an earth-shaking roar
Pyrus Dragonoid recognized at 440 G's, Hydranoid leads with a 10 G advantage
"Ha! Even with your little Boosted Dragon activate, Hydranoid is still stronger!" Masquerade gloated.
"Not for long!" Dan responded as he outstretched his arm. "Gate Card open! Cheering Battle!"
The black card began to shine as rays of light erupted from it, causing Skyress to glow.
"Cheering Battle allows another ally Bakugan to be thrown in!" Dan explained as he looked at Shun. "Like you said Shun, we can't beat him alone!"
Shun smirked, even chuckling a little bit as he gently gripped Skyress.
"You ready Skyress?" Shun questioned.
"Always Shun! Now let's beat that monster!" She replied with vigor.
"Alright then, Bakugan Brawl!" He yelled as he threw Skyress next to Drago. "Skyress Descend!" He shouted as clouds suddenly formed in the sky, Skyress floating out of them as she stretched her wings giving a loud screech.
Ventus Skyress recognized at 360 G's, Dragonoid increased to 60 G's detected
"What?!" Masquerade asked, shocked as he saw Drago's power level rise to 500 on his visor.
"That's Cheering Battle's second effect! The 10's G's from the second Bakugan is added to the first!" Dan explained with a wide smile. "So now it's your Hydranoid that's inferior to Drago!"
"And we're no pushovers either!" Shun yelled as he held out his own ability card. "Ability Activate! Green Nobility- Soar Violent Winds!"
Skyress gave a screeching battle cry as her body was enveloped in a flaming green aura.
Increase of 100 G's detected for Skyress, new recalculated power level is at 460 G's
"How does it feel Masquerade?!" Shun asked with a confident smirk. "For both of our Bakugan to outclass yours?!"
"Outclassed?!" Hydranoid questioned with a low growl. "As if any of you could ever outclass me!" He bellowed as he slammed his tail hard against the ground.
"You both are giving yourselves too much credit!" Masquerade shouted as he reached for another ability card. "I'll show you just how wrong you are! Ability Activate! Auragano Revenge!" He shouted as he threw the card at Drago and Skyress, a misty purple and black trail streaming behind it.
The card began to spin around the pair, encasing them in that misty black and purple aura as they felt their strength drain.
"RAHHH!" Drago roared as he and Skyress beat their powerful wings to try and blow away the aura, no no effect.
Both Shun and Dan looked worried as they set their eyes on their respective Bakupod.
Hydranoid power level to 550 G's. Dragonoid power level down to 400 G's and Skyress returns to its base level at 360 G's
"Don't you see?!" Masquerade asked as he spread his arms apart in a satisfied stance. "No matter what you do or how you do it, Hydranoid will always be superior!"
The worry on Dan's face faded as he began to smirk, winking at Masquerade as he pulled out another one of his ability cards.
"Oh yeah?" He questioned confidently. "I think you're still selling us short pal." He continued as he looked to Drago. "Isn't that right buddy?"
"Right as usual Daniel!" He bellowed as his eyes shifted to Skyress. "You don't mind if I take it from here do you?" He inquired, aware of her pride.
Skyress chuckled as she lowered herself to the ground. "As long as that monster Hydranoid is dealt with I don't much care which one of us it is!" She responded. "However, you'd better impress me, otherwise I'll have to take over!" There was a certain friendly taunt in her voice as she spoke.
"Hah!" Drago laughed. "I'll try and live up to your expectations!" He bellowed as he then looked over at Dan. "Well you heard her, don't want to keep her waiting do you?!"
Dan snickered at Drago's remark, looking over at shun with a friendly gaze. "And what about you Mr. Hotshot? Are you gonna be mad that I'm about to steal your thunder?" He jokingly jeered.
"I don't much care Dan." He responded, the edges of his lips curling up into a small smirk. "But like Skyress said, don't disappoint us."
"Well, you're both a pretty tough crowd to please, but I do my best." He responded as he bent his arm back, ready to throw his ability card.
"Continue to cling onto false hopes!" Hydranoid's shrill voice growled. "But whatever you do won't come even close to defeating me!"
"Hump! Play that ability card Dan! It'll be the last one Drago ever uses!" he warned with a cocky smile.
"We'll see about that!" He retorted as he threw the card, becoming enveloped in flames as it traveled to Drago. "Ability Activate! Fire Tornado!" He called as flames wrapped around Drago in a swirling pattern.
Drago roared as he lunged straight at Hydranoid, tilting his head back as his horn stuck out like a spearhead. Hydranoid roared back and solidified his footing, whipping his head forward, his horn collided with Drago's. The two titans growled at one another as the spinning flames around Drago began to lick at Hydranoid's skin, leaving burn marks. Hot crimson sparks flew as Hydranoid began to get pushed back as Drago made one final mighty push. Using the entire strength of his body at once, he pushed Hydranoid away, the black and purple beast crashing onto his back as he slid back to the edge of the Gate Card.
"Hydranoid!" Masquerade called as he gritted his teeth in anger and frustration.
The beast's power levels popped up on his visor, showing Drago had taken the lead in power, now at 500 while Hydranoid was at 450.
"Alright!" Dan cheered as he snapped his finger. "Now time for the finishing blow Drago!"
"Of course!" He bellowed as he beat his wings, rising high up into the air as he raised his read up in the air, fire seeping through his teeth as he charged his finishing blow.
Hydranoid rolled off his back as he pushed himself to his feet, giving a frustrated hiss. "You may have got me on that one!" He roared. "But this is where it ends!" He screeched as he looked to Masquerade. "Do it master! Use it and let me obliterate them, and give them and a complimentary trip to the Doom Dimension!"
Masquerade began to chuckle as he placed his hand over his face, soon breaking out into maniacal laughter as he pulled out his final ability card.
"Prepare for oblivion!" He cackled as he threw the card as hard as he could. "Ability Activate! Merge Shield!" He yelled as the card turned purple, shattering into nothingness as a misty purple energy began to spiral around Drago and Skyress.
"What's going on?!" Shun and Dan asked simultaneously as the purple energy began to flow away from Drago and Skyress, now flowing into Hydranoid's mouth.
They both looked at their Bakupods in complete and utter terror crossed their face
Hydranoid increase of 260 G's detected, Hydranoid new recalculated power level at 710 G's. Drago and Skyress stable at 500 G's and 360 G's respectively
"H-H-How is that even p-possible?!" Shun quaked as the sack on Hydranoid's neck began to bulge.
"That was the effect of Merge Shield! It allows Hydranoid to gain the same amount of G's opponent Bakugan have gained through the brawl! I must say this is probably Hydranoid's most powerful ability!" He gloated as he looked on with a wide satisfied smile. "And this time there's no way of avoiding your destruction! Have fun in the Doom Dimension!"
Drago shot out his fireball as Hydranoid released a blazing purple energy beam from his mouth. The two attacks collided, Drago's attack being easily enveloped as it disappeared, Hydranoid attack heading straight for the Dragonoid.
"No! Drago!" Dan cried as he began to run towards his friend, extending out as he futilely tried to reach for him.
Drago looked at the oncoming attack with pure shock, recognizing immediately that there was no way he could stop it.
'So, this is it.' He thought to himself as the world seemed to slow down to a crawl, Hydranoid's attack hardly seeming to move, images of his past began to flood through his mind.
"Oh Salamander." Wavern's soft, comforting voice spoke. "I want so desperately to see the outside world. I know as a White One, I'm to stay here in the center of Vestroia. But, just once I'd like to see it." Her voice was optimistic and somber at the same time, knowing it was highly likely she'd never get her wish, though still clinging to that small chance.
Drago clutched her hand, looking softly into her eyes. "One day, somehow, I'll take you, I'll do everything in my power to make it happen!" He told her in a stout, sure tone. "I promise you!"
The white dragon wrapped her wings around Drago in a tender embrace.
"Thank you! Truly, thank you Salamander!" Her voice quivering ever so slightly as she spoke. "I will look forward to that day!"
"I'm sorry Wavern, I'm so terribly sorry I won't be able to keep my promise to you." He said to himself as he felt a wave of guilt pass over him as Hydranoid's attack inched over closer.
"Why are you doing this Naga?!" Drago demanded as he stopped the white dragon.
"Out of my way Dragonoid!" He threatened. "What I'm doing is no concern to you!"
"What do you mean, have you gone mad?!" Drago bellowed.
"Quiet! You've no idea the injustices I've been handed! I'm only tipping the scale in my favor now!" He barked.
"You fool Naga!" Drago quipped back. "Nothing good will come from this!"
"I needn't hear any of your babbling!" He growled as he raised his hand, holding a small black card.
"W-what is that Naga?! And where did you get it?!" Drago demanded.
"I got this from a human, now out of my way!" He screeched as he pushed past Drago, then using the card as a square gateway of some kind opened and Naga flew threw, cackling as he did so.
"No…" Drago muttered to himself. "No! No! No!" He yelled as he felt a power begin to rise in him, his body starting to glow a vibrant crimson. "I have to stop Naga, I have to! If I don't, Vestroia could be doomed forever, including Wavern!" He screamed as his body began to glow even brighter, becoming molten-like as Hydanoid's beam hit Drago in a fiery explosion.
No Drago!" Dan cried out as he fell to his knees as tears began to well up in his eyes.
Masquerade and Hydranoid both began to laugh as a large cloud of smoke formed as purple sparks fell to the ground.
"Drago!" Skyress called out as she took to the sky.
"J-Just like t-that.." Shun said weakly.
"Ahahaha!" Masquerade laughed. "Now it's your turn Skyress!"
"G-Get out of t-there Skyress!" Shun pleaded with wide terrified eyes.
"I can't Shun!" Skyress called as she gave a furious screech. "I'm stuck in this battle and Hydranoid will pay for what he did to Drago!" She called out as she prepared to attack Hydranoid.
"Pay?" Hydranoid scoffed. "I think you've got your situation confused, the only thing that's about to happen is that you'll be joining Drago in the Doom Dimension!"
"Is that a fact Hydranoid?!" Drago roared as the smoke began to clear, revealing the molten clad Dragonoid to be fine.
"What, how?!" Masquerade questioned in shock.
"D-Drago, you're ok!" Dan screamed as tears of happiness and relief rolled down his cheeks.
"Of course!" He bellowed. "It'll take more than that to keep me down!"
"But how?!" Hydranoid demanded as he slammed his spiked tail down in frustration.
Dan looked at his Bakupod and his eyes opened wide in surprise.
Dragonoid increase of 200 G's detected, new power level at 700 G's and a decrease of 100 G's detected for Hydranoid, new power level recalculated at 610 G's. Dragonoid leads with a 90 G advantage
"Ultimate Boost!" Drago cried as a blazing crimson aura burned all around his body.
"I-It's the same move he used against Reaper in our first brawl!" Masquerade exclaimed. "B-but he couldn't control it before! How is he able to control it now?!"
"That's simple Masquerade!" Drago bellowed. "I've got too many important things to do to be defeated by the likes of you! I will use every fiber of my being to complete my mission and fulfill a promise I made! I'm fighting for something, you could never hope to understand my resolve!" He cried as he lifted his head up, a mass of fire forming in his mouth again.
"I refuse to believe it!" Hydranoid bellowed. "You are not stronger than me!" He roared as the pouch on his throat bulged again as he prepared his final attack.
"Unreal…" Shun muttered as he saw the two behemoths about ready to clash.
"T-That's right Hydranoid! It must be a mistake, there is no Bakugan stronger than you, except Naga himself!" The masked boy shouted. "Now destroy him!"
Both behemoths let out their attacks simultaneously. Drago's crimson fireball clashed with Hydranoid blazing purple beam with an incredibly loud shockwave and a flash of light so intense and bright it made the entire battlefield nothing but white for a moment. When that moment was up, Hydranoid was flying through the air towards Masquerade as he turned into purple energy and condensed back into ball form. He caught him with a perplexed expression, not understanding how he could lose with a Bakugan as powerful as Hydranoid.
Drago closed his eyes as his body stopped glowing and returned to normal, becoming limp as began to fall straight down towards the ground as he turned into crimson energy and condensed into ball form. Dan came running over as he caught Drago before he hit the ground, breathing a sigh of relief now that they won. Skyress condensed back into ball form as Shun caught her and the Gate Card disappeared along with the battlefield, returning back to Shun's yard.
"I….I...lost…" Masquerade muttered in disbelief as he looked at Hydanoid's ball form.
"That's right!" Dan called. "And we can beat you any other time as well! We aren't afraid of you Masquerade!"
The masked boy gave a small chuckle as he whipped around, his coat flowing in the wind.
"Enjoy your victory while you can. Because next time we meet Hydranoid we have evolved and then I'll crush you and Drago with ease!" Masquerade barked as he disappeared.

I hope you all enjoyed this! I had a lot of fun making it! I've wanted to write a Bakugan fanfic for a good long while now, I had Masquerade Rising, but I'm not too good at writing overarching stories and that would take a ton of time I'm not sure I have. And I really just wanted to write the brawls anyway, so I came up with this, It'll just be a collection of what if brawls and revamped brawls. If you have a brawl you'd like to be featured, new or a revamped version feel free to PM me or leave a review stating who you want and what outcome you want.
Now, most of what I'm going to be doing will involve the first 2 seasons, and some of the 3rd, since those are the seasons that use G-power and I just find it much easier and more fun to use G-Power, so I'm not sure if I'll do characters whose G's haven't been stated and or who's ability cards don't have stated effects.
