Back at camp, Spotpaw kept racking her brains to find out what possessed her to congratulate Foxpaw. Foxpaw, of all the cats! With a sigh, Spotpaw chose a small mouse from the prey pile and settled down.

She was about to take a bite when a voice above asked, "Can I share with you?"

Looking up, Spotpaw was surprised to see Thistlestripe.

"Uh, sure!" She'd always had a massive crush on the young warrior, but he had mostly hung around Mosscloud.

At the moment, the pretty silver and white she-cat was glaring at Spotpaw through narrowed eyes.

Is Mosscloud jealous? Feeling happy that beautiful, talented Mosscloud was jealous of her, she patted the ground next to her with her plumed tail.

Thistlestripe lay down close enough to the tortoiseshell and white she-cat for their pelts to be just brushing.

A little thrill of excitement shot through Spotpaw, and she was disappointed when they finished the mouse quickly. I should've chosen a thrush.

Thistlestripe stood up. "See you later."

Spotpaw hurried to the apprentices' den while Thistlestripe padded back to Mosscloud.

Brightpaw was sitting up, and glanced at her sister as she came bursting in. "Why are you so out of breath?"

As Spotpaw just collapsed in her nest, happiness rushing through her, Brightpaw rolled her eyes. "Come on, spill!"

Spotpaw leaned closer. "Thistlestripe and I just shared a mouse!"

Brightpaw blinked. "So?"

Feeling disheartened that her own sister didn't know her all-time crush, Spotpaw impatiently meowed. "So I've had a crush on him since… I don't know, forever! And he wanted to share with me!"

Brightpaw's eyes widened. "That's so cool!"

Spotpaw happily smiled. Wanting to talk about Thistlestripe's decision all night long, it was disappointing when Brightpaw suddenly frowned and changed the subject.

"Didn't you notice that Slatestar didn't let us congratulate Foxpaw?"

Spotpaw sighed. "I did. I feel bad. But it was really startling when every cat was suddenly yowling my name. I wish Flashstar had warned us."

Brightpaw nodded. "I felt like I could sink into the floor in embarrassment. But imagine how much worse it would be if Flashstar didn't even pause to let anyone yowl anything."

Spotpaw glanced at her sister suspiciously. "Why do you care? He's just a ShadowClan apprentice."

Brightpaw shrugged, but her ear tips turned red. "It's getting late, we should go to sleep. Ivynose is taking me on the territory tour early tomorrow, so I want to be rested."

Narrowing her eyes at Brightpaw's sudden embarrassment, Spotpaw nodded slowly. "Okay. Goodnight, Brightpaw." Recalling the slight blush to her sister's ears, the tortoiseshell and white apprentice's ears narrowed, too tired to figure out any puzzles.
