Chapter 3 Hydrokinetic Princess
It did not take long for the Koopalings to get to the throne room. While the guards were slightly less incompetent than the Mushroom Kingdom's, they still toppled like dominoes when confronted by the them. But then again, perhaps the Koopas weren't ones to judge. Despite how often the Mushroom Retainers cowered at the sight of the Koopas, their own castle was able to be overrun by one measly plumber very often.
Whatever. The Koopalings had more important issues to think about. Like figuring out how to deal with the Princess.
The throne room which stood before them was just as glorious as Bowser's, if not more so. The walls were made out of coral the same color as a sunset, and it had little niches for a person to grasp and climb. A sky blue carpet, one that felt like the clouds, stretched all the way up to the throne. The throne seemed to be made out of one singular pearl. It shined like a prism, sending rainbow lights dancing across the walls. Pillars, grand and tall, helped the ceiling remain stable. They also created a border between the dry ground leading to the throne and the rectangular pools of water. The pools weren't that deep, as Lemmy could stand up to his waist in them. They were being fed by water falls which flowed out of the ceiling.
Of course, the throne room was not as impressive as the Princess who occupied it. Sitting on the throne was Princess Aqua. She was seventeen years of age, although her stature made that a hard fact to believe. Her eyes were a beautiful cerulean and glowed like sapphires. Her hair was like caramel that had been weaved into very thin strands. Her skin was a sunkissed tan, which did a good job distracting onlookers from the freckles dotting her cheeks. Her attire was fairly simple. Unlike her sister, she lacked a crown and gloves. The skirt of her dress was composed of different shades of blue, helping her resemble a living fountain. On her feet were simplistic white sandals.
Roy stared at the young Princess. The closer he got, the clearer the Princess' facial expression became. She was glaring at the koopas, her eyebrows forming lines straight enough to be mistaken for knives. Her cerulean eyes were glittering with a very hard emotion. Her plump, freckle covered cheeks were turning red.
"Why hello," she said with a stern tone.
"Hi," Wendy said nervously. Iggy stepped forward, clearing his throat as he did so.
"Princess Aqua. I assume that you are fully aware of our intentions?"
Aqua shifted position so that she was leaning a little on her right hand.
"Of course I am. After all the crap you pulled with my family over the years, I assumed that you would target me eventually." She sighed in a bored state. "Don't you all have better things to do than to kidnap princesses every other week?"
"Well, it does get pretty expensive…" Roy stated, but he was ultimately shushed by Morton. Ludwig stepped toward the Princess.
"Okay, little miss lovely. The way I see it, you have two...actually, no, you have one real option. That is you get your royal highness off the throne and come with us."
Aqua smirked.
"Whatever you say." She stepped off the throne and stood before the Koopas. Ludwig in particular looked surprised.
"Huh. Well, that was easier than I…"
Before anyone knew what was going on, a humongous torrent of water burst out of the pool on the right side of the throne. It hit the Koopalings, sending them screaming in the direction of the other pool. When they landed, all of them were soaking wet. Aqua glared at them as she approached.
"Sorry guys." She waved her hands around, and the water from the waterfall started to curl around her in a ring formation. "But I'm not going anywhere."
The Koopalings stood up. Roy glared at Aqua and ran forward. He tried to punch her, but the water surrounding Aqua morphed into a whip. It wrapped around Roy's wrist and sent him flying toward the door. He landed on his head, causing searing pain to shoot through his skull.
Wendy threw her rings. They ricocheted off the walls. Wendy pulled more and more rings out of her hammerspace, creating a pinball sort of effect. One hit the Princess square in the face. Aqua put her hand on the problem area and growled. She allowed the water to act as a sort of armor. It surrounded her as she rushed toward the Koopalings with gritted teeth. She curled her fist, and the water around it went flying straight toward Wendy. Wendy didn't have time to react and was sent straight toward the wall.
With that, the Koopalings scattered. Lemmy, Morton, and Iggy went up to the dry land. Ludwig rose into the air, and Larry's eyes scanned the room. He noticed the crevices and niches on the wall and started to climb. He climbed about halfway up when he let go. He dived straight toward Aqua with his elbow jutting out. He hit her on the head and held her under the water. However, he didn't manage to do it for very long. A bubble formed around the Princess, allowing her to push Larry away. She rose into the air and faced the Koopalings who weren't incapacitated. Her breath was extremely heavy.
"Give up?"
"Not a chance," said Ludwig. He started shooting fireballs at the bubble, but Aqua steered it around the projectiles. While she was doing that, Iggy pulled a Bob-omb out of his hammerspace and lit the fuse. He threw it at the bubble, causing it to pop. Aqua screamed as she went falling right into the right hand pool. She growled. When she did, a huge wall of water burst out from under her feet, allowing her to spring into the air. She started shooting water droplets in the form of spikes around the room. Some of them pinned Iggy, Lemmy, and Ludwig against the wall.
However, that was hardly an issue. Ludwig gritted his teeth and flung an electric bolt at the water stream. It sent electricity fizzing through the water, shocking the Princess. In that instant, she fell out of the air and landed in Morton's arms. The brown skinned Koopaling looked down at her stoically.
"What was that you said about you not going anywhere?"
With that, the Koopalings brought the Princess back to the airship. When Bowser saw them, he smiled.
"Good work, guys!" He chuckled upon seeing the Koopalings soaking wet. "I suppose I forgot to mention that Aqua has hydrokinesis."
"Yeah, that would have been a nice nugget of knowledge to wield," said Larry. Bowser approached the glaring Princess.
"Now, don't worry Aqua. I have no intention of hurting you."
Aqua's eyes narrowed.
"Eat my spit, Bowser." With that, she spat in his face. Bowser wiped it off and chuckled in response.
"Yeah. I think this plan is going to work out just fine."
