Chapter 4 Father Son
Despite the fact that she was his captive, Bowser went out of his way to make sure that Aqua was placed in the best room in the castle. This room was usually reserved for Peach, and it clearly showed. The bedspreads were pink, the pillows were shaped like hearts. There was not a single window to speak of, a measure taken to ensure the Princess would not escape. Another measure that was taken was the force field that was placed in the entryway by Kamek.
Once Aqua was situated, Bowser went to sit on his throne. He let out an exhausted sigh and snuggled into the royal chair. He was proud of his kids; they did their absolute best. Usually, their absolute best resulted in the Koopas getting beaten, but Bowser was pleased that was not the case here. He smiled as he pulled out his phone from his hammerspace. He dialed in a number that was all too familiar to him.
"Hello?" a cheery, Italian voice rang out from the other side.
"Why hello, Mario!" Bowser said with a smile and an extra cheerful inflection. "How are you doing on this lovely day?"
"Oh no," Mario responded, sounding a little more gruff than before. "What did you do?"
Bowser's eyes grew wide.
"Mario! Are you seriously suggesting that I can't be in a good mood without having it indicate something heinous?" He chuckled. "Well, you'd be completely right."
When Mario spoke, he sounded a little bit frightened.
"What is it this time? Did you try to create a galaxy again?"
"Oh no no no, that was way too immature of me." Admittedly, Bowser still thought that it had been an awesome plan. "No, what I have done is kidnap a certain Princess."
"Peach?"
"No, not Peach."
There was a pause.
"Daisy?"
Bowser's eyebrow rose.
"What? No, not Daisy. No, I kidnapped someone who is far more powerful. Someone who dresses in blue."
Mario paused again before gasping.
"What? How in the world did you manage to kidnap Rosalina?"
Bowser facepalmed so hard that it actually hurt.
"No, you drain brain, I kidnapped Princess Aqua!"
Now, when Mario spoke, his voice sounded like it belonged to a vengeful Olympian god.
"What?"
"Yes siree! I kidnapped Princess Aqua!" Bowser said triumphantly. "And I will be willing to let her go...for a price."
Mario growled.
"I won't be paying your price. I will come right over and rescue her."
Bowser chortled.
"We'll see about that. Come over to my Castle two weeks from today and we'll discuss the details. Later, Plum Scum."
With that, Bowser hung up the phone. He was just about to lean back in satisfaction again when he heard a small voice come from the other side of the room.
"Dad?"
Bowser felt his heart soar when he saw his son standing near the throne.
"Junior!" He held out his arms. "Come sit on Papa's lap."
Junior's snout wrinkled up.
"Dad, I'm nine years old. I'm getting too old for that stuff."
Bowser blinked before instantly pulling back.
"Oh, right. My bad," he said. Despite the fact that he still looked like he smelled some skunk spray, Junior approached the king in his seat.
"Who were you talking to?" he asked. Bowser's mouth curved into a gleeful smile.
"Mario," he said proudly. Junior let out a groan.
"You kidnapped Peach again?"
"No, not Peach. I kidnapped her sister." He laughed. "It's all a big part of my plan. Once Peach sees that I have her sister, she will have to become my queen." He smiled. "And you will finally have a mother."
In that instant, Junior's features softened up. He smiled wistfully.
"That would be nice. Peach would make a nice Mama."
Bowser nodded enthusiastically.
"Exactly." He gestured for Junior to come a little closer. "And listen, son. This endeavor is taxing, I will never deny it. But I am telling you, it will all be worth it in the end. As long as you get the mother that you deserve, then I am willing to do anything."
Junior's eyes shined.
"Anything?"
"Anything."
"Including eating a pair of dirt underwear?"
Bowser gave Junior a weird look.
"Well...almost anything."
Junior laughed and hugged his father.
"Thanks Dad. I like that you are doing this for me."
"You're welcome," Bowser said as he hugged Junior back. "Now, why don't you go play with your toys?"
Junior nodded and bounced away. As Bowser watched him go, he thought about that statement. He really was willing to do anything for Junior. He would go to the moon and back if it meant he would get Junior the mother he deserved.
