Okay, so this is just about the last thing I need to set up the games. Anyways, let's get going. Oh, before I start, Shantae is 14 and Jasmine is 15(she has a few months on her) and both look like their canon counterparts(minus Jasmine having her necklace and a tribal tattoo on her arm)
"Ugh, I'm bored!" Shantae whined. Jasmine was inclined to agree. Bolo and Sky weren't around and Mimic was busy with something else. While the girls were now living in a lighthouse on the edge of town, the view of everything certainly didn't give them any clues on anything interesting to do.
"Trust me, Shantae, I'm just as bored as you," Jasmine replied. Suddenly, they heard an explosion, followed by screams and laughter.
"What was that?!" Shantae exclaimed. Jasmine rushed to the window.
"Bandits are attacking!" Jasmine exclaimed.
"WHAT!?" Shantae cried as she shoved Jasmine a little so she could see what was happening. Quite a few buildings had been set ablaze and they could faintly make out some bandits stealing anything they could.
"They are going to destroy the town!" Jasmine cried. "Crikey, what now?" Both girls looked around. They realized something. A skilled boomerang wielder plus a magic animal necklace plus genie powers could equal something good. Both girls grinned. This idea was crazy, but it was a chance.
"Grab everything!" A bandit yelled out. The citizens ran in fear, trying to avoid the bandits and the burning building. Suddenly, a loud roar echoed throughout the town. Everyone turned to the sky to see a large dragon flying overhead. It landed in the town square. Shantae jumped off and charged some of the bandits, too afraid to act in time. Her hair whip proved to be surprisingly powerful and she even tossed in some fire magic. Jasmine shifted into the form of a lion, charging the bandits, who quickly ran in fear. She then shifted back into human form, using her boomerang to trip them up. Some of the local guards, who had been overwhelmed by the sheer amount of bandits, rushed to arrest as many as they could. Realizing that the buildings were still burning, Jasmine rushed for the water, shifting into a whale. She then proceeded to blast all the burning buildings, dousing the fire. She then returned to shore.
"That was...awesome!" Someone in the crowd cheered. Everyone began to cheer, praising their new saviors.
"It was nothing," Shantae replied. Jasmine nodded, not that she wasn't enjoying the praise.
"You saved the town! I wouldn't call that nothing," A man gushed.
"Where are these heroes I heard about?" The mayor, a fat, old man known only as Mayor Scuttlebutt, asked as he made his way to the front of the town. Everyone pointed at Jasmine and Shantae.
"We were just doing what we could," Jasmine replied. "I'm sure anyone of these blokes would have done the same if they were us."
"But you two acted and saved the town," Scuttlebutt replied. "How did you two do it?"
"Well, I have a boomerang and a magic necklace that lets me turn into animals," Jasmine began. "And my sister here has genie powers,"
"Wait...a real genie?" Scuttlebutt asked. But before Shantae could explain, he spoke up. "How would you two like to become the Guardians of Scuttle Town? It would be like a paid job and everything!"
"It would be an honor!" Jasmine and Shantae both exclaimed.
"Then it is decided. From this moment onwards, you two are the Guardian Sisters of Scuttle Town!" Scuttlebutt declared. With that, the crowd walked off, with a few talking about how awesome it was to have a genie as a guardian. Jasmine and Shantae took that as a cue to go tell Mimic about their new job.
"Ya know, I never thought being a hero was something I would earn money over," Jasmine said as she got ready for bed. She then noticed Shantae looking guilty over something. "You okay?"
"I'm fine, Jas. I just….is it okay that I am letting everyone believe that I am a full genie?" Shantae asked. Jasmine sat down next to Shantae.
"As far as I'm concerned, all that matters that we helped save everyone. I don't think the people care if you are a full genie, a half genie or a full human. All they care about is that we saved them," Jasmine replied. Shantae gave her a smile.
"Thanks Jas. You always seem to know how to cheer me up," Shantae thanked.
"It's what sisters do," Jasmine responded with a smile, which was quickly returned.
Jasmine is going to regret part of those words one day. But that day is still a ways off. Anyways, next time, the duo are going to meet their soon to be long time foe. See you then.
