Gamelover41592: Expect a lot more between them.

Matt (Guest): Before you said that you made a mistake, I just thought you meant he would have to get over his fear of zombies to deal with Rottytops. And it's fine, we all make mistakes.

Alright, finally time to start the first game! And what better way to start then the girls meeting their soon to be arch enemy? Let's get going!

"Well, sister of mine, what should we do today?" Shantae asked as she greeted her older sister, who had just gotten dressed.

"Didn't Uncle Mimic say he had that new thing he wanted to show us?" Jasmine asked. While she didn't have as many self-esteem issues as her sister, one thing that bothered Jasmine a little was her accent. No one she knew spoke like her. But then again, she didn't know much from before Mimic found her in that temple, so maybe there were. Either way, anything the girls could think about was cut off by the sound of cannon fire. Rushing to the window, both girls looked out.

"We need a bigger window," Shantae grumbled as she pushed against Jasmine.

"We can deal with th-LOOK OUT!" Jasmine cried as she shoved her sister against the wall. A cannonball had just been blasted through their roof!

"Another pirate attack?!" Shantae exclaimed when she saw where the cannonballs were coming from.

"C'mon! We best go take 'em down!" Jasmine said as she grabbed her necklace and boomerang off a nearby table.

"Right behind you!" Shantae called after her.

"Watch your step!" Jasmine said. The pirate ship was blasting away at the pathway connecting the lighthouse to the town. Once they made it to the end, the ship had docked at the town and fired a large capsule. Out jumped several strange looking men. They had jet black skin, yellow eyes, and red bandannas and pants. But before the girls could chase after them, a final person jumped out of the capsule. She was clearly the pirate behind the attack. She was dressed in a skull bra, loose fitting pants, a pirate hat and had purple hair, much like Shantae. However, she also had seemingly pure white skin. When she saw the two sisters, she drew her cutlass.

"So you're behind this attack!" Shanate realized. Jasmine had heard stories about this woman, but never met her in person.

"Risky Boot, the lady-pirate!" Jasmine announced.

"In the flesh!" Risky boasted. "Sorry about your shack darlings. I thought you two were guardians and one was a genie, not a duo of scrawny kids. Well, no matter! Gotta haul booty!" With a laugh, Risky followed after her minions.

"Oooooh….she's gonna get it!" Jasmine vowed as she clutched her boomerang. She had half a mind to try throwing it and hitting her right then and there.

"She's up to no good, that's for sure!" Shantae added in.

"Let's go take her down!" Jasmine said. "Prove to everyone that we are the best at what we do!" With that, the girls rushed into town.

"What the heck happened?!" Shantae exclaimed. The town was already in ruins, with citizens fleeing and Risky's minions tearing the place up.

"Doesn't matter! What matters is that we fix this!" Jasmine said. With that, the girls rushed through town. The minions were everywhere and they had a bunch of ways to attack. Not helping was that Risky's ship was firing more capsules with more minions in them. Thankfully, they stopped coming out of the capsules once the girls destroyed them.

"This whole section of the town is on fire!" Shantae exclaimed once the girls reached another part of town. Most of the buildings had been set ablaze.

"Stand back! I've been wanting a chance to try this out!" Jasmine said as she cracked her knuckles. Then, with a running start, she transformed into an eagle, flew over the water, before transforming into a whale, creating a decent-sized wave that put out most of the fires...and thoroughly soaked her sister.

"Really?" Shantae asked as she wringed out her hair.

"I said to stand back!" Jasmine pointed out. "Besides, the sun will dry you out!" Shantae grumbled, knowing Jasmine had some good points. With one last grumble, the two continued to move towards Risky's ship.

"Hey look!" Jasmine said. She pointed to two minions taking something out of a building. And then a third blowing it up. Inside was Mimic!

"UNCLE!" Both girls exclaimed when they saw he was knocked out. The older man quickly woke up, putting the girls' worries to rest.

"Are you okay?" Jasmine asked.

"What happened?" Shantae added in.

"Look what those Tinkerbats did to my workshop!" Mimic exclaimed. "You two need to stop them before they escape with my steam engine!"

"What's a Steam Engine?" Jasmine asked.

"I'll explain later!" Mimic replied quickly. "Right now, we have to get it back!"

"So it's dangerous? Got it!" Shantae replied. With a quick hug shared with their uncle, the girls rushed off.

Once the girls reached the ship, they were surprised to find Risky waiting for them.

"Where's the steam engine!?" Shantae demanded.

"Oh! Well...that's none of your goddamn business! Now is it?!" Risky snidely replied. "But now you are all in a lot of hot water!"

"Who do you think you are?!" Jasmine asked.

"Who am I? I am Risky Boots, queen of the Seven Seas!" Risky answered. "And anyone who opposes me will be crushed flat! Men! Spank these two extra hard for mommy!" With that, a Tinkerbat began firing a cannon at the two girls, who quickly dodged it. Luckily for them, Risky wasn't watching what door her other Tinkerbats came out of, as Shantae quickly started attacking a bomb found inside. This resulted in Risky being blown into the water while Shantae and Jasmine landed on platforms near the side of the ship. The Tinkerbats tried to throw the explosive barrels down on the girls, but they merely blew them up in the Tinkerbats's hands.

"I went easy on you this time!" Risky claimed from her anchor. "But next time, I'll be steam-powered and unstoppable! Ho Ho Ho!" With that, Risky sailed off, while the girls returned to see the townsfolk gathered in wait for them. The mayor then walked out to greet them.

"Good job, you two!" The mayor complimented. "You certainly made short work of those pirates! Hiring a set of guardians for the town was a great idea! Especially when one is a genie!"

"Maybe it's time we told him I'm only half-genie," Shantae whispered loud enough for Jasmine to hear her. "Maybe then they could get a real Guardian genie."

"Half-genie or full genie, you are a real guardian to me," Jasmine replied back. Shantae managed to give her a smile. The crowd then left.

"Girls!" Mimic exclaimed when he saw them. "What happened? Where's my steam engine?"

"We're sorry uncle, but Risky got away with the steam engine," Jasmine replied, now taking on a guilty look of her own.

"Now she's going to use it to destroy Scuttle Town!" Shantae added in. "If only I was a real genie! Then I could show Risky a thing or two!"

"I'm afraid it's not that simple," Mimic replied. "It will take more genie or necklace magic this time. Let me explain from the beginning. It all started on my last dig when I unearthed an ancient vault. Hidden inside was a diagram of a strange contraption. Here's how the thing works. A steel chamber full of water is heated. The water becomes steam, blasting out to the top with enough pressure to turn a wheel indefinitely. Steam-powered muscle like that could change the world! I used the plans to build a steam engine of my own. I was almost done when that vixen swiped it!"

"She seemed to be headed towards Water Town. Maybe there's still a chance to get the engine back!" Shantae realized.

"That'a girl!" Mimic cheered. "Be sure you are prepared before you leave. Good luck girls!" Mimic said.

And it begins. So, funny story. The original Shantae is my least favorite out of the games. Beyond the fact it was really slow paced for my liking, none of the characters had settled into their characterization from later games(although this version of the mayor is better). So quite a few pieces of dialogue are going to change. Anyways, see you next time(I don't when that is going to be because Seven Sirens has now taken up a good chunk of my time)!
