Okay, so am I the only one who was more then a little confused that, despite Rotty literally selling her out and costing her her powers, Shantae never got an apology from her. Like, Abner and Poe say sorry, but her and Rotty act like nothing is wrong between them. So, time for another fix.
Things were still quiet around Scuttle Town, which left the girls with a lot of freetime. As such, they were more then happy to take Bolo and Sky up on their idea to have a picnic outside of town. Of course, one thing Shantae wasn't happy about was that the route out of town was way more dangerous without her magic and Jasmine forced her to ride on her.
"Stop frowning, you love when I do this!" Jasmine called. She had turned into a rhino for the trek.
"Not when you and everyone else treat me like a baby over it!" Shantae yelled back.
"You said it yourself, this place is dangerous without powers," Jasmine replied. Upon seeing that Shantae didn't change her mood, Jasmine suddenly charged forwards, running over a bunch of enemies. "Plus, we can do that!"
"...Okay, I liked that part," Shantae admitted. The clearing wasn't much further, but they still found a lot of enemies to run over. At the clearing, however, the good mood ended. Bolo and Sky were there and everything was set up.
And Rottytops was bound in Bolo's chains.
Jasmine felt her blood boil. She hated that zombie. If it hadn't been for her, Shantae would still have her powers and everything would be normal.
"You must have a lot of guts or be real stupid, ya hoon," Jasmine snarled. Shantae, however, took notice of something that the others neglected. Rottytops looked so withdrawn. She wasn't even bothering to fight back against anything. Then they locked eyes. Rottytops looked like she was completely full of regret. After a few seconds, she turned her head away. Shantae's mind was made up.
"...Let her go guys," Shantae finally. Her friends and sister turned to her like she had just grown a second head.
"Are you crazy!?" Bolo exclaimed. "After what she did!?"
"Gotta agree with him on this," Jasmine admitted. "She's a snake," Sky said nothing, only nodding.
"Guys...just trust me on this one," Shantae requested. The others looked at her and then at each other. Finally, Jasmine sighed.
"Alright. But if she tries anything, she's gonna be double dead!" Jasmine warned. Sky then undid the chains. Rottytops stood up slowly. She was still deciding if she wanted to bolt. She knew she wanted to say sorry, but with the person here, it looked so much harder.
"Uh, listen Shantae…." Rottytops began. She was fighting back tears. "...What happened with the lamp...I...I am so sorry,"
"Relax, Rotty," Shantae said. "I saw you crying. You didn't want something like that to happen. And I forgive you,"
"WHAT!?"
Shantae fought back the urge to roll her eyes at the other three people present. All of them began shouting over each other about how stupid that was.
"Clearly, your friends don't agree with that," Rotty snidely snapped.
"Well, they don't speak for me," Shantae assured her. "I'm willing to start fresh. But you need to promise me something. Don't do something like that again." Rotty pulled her into a hug.
"I promise," She croaked out. At the sight of that, Jasmine felt the fire inside her die down. Rotty was crying. You couldn't fake that.
Well, you could, but Jasmine didn't feel like thinking about that. At all.
Bolo also felt himself soften. Even Sky was having problems seeing something wrong with that. Finally, the hug broke.
"Hey, if you want and promise to behave, you can hang out with us," Shantae offered.
"Sounds fun!" Rotty said. With that, everyone sat down to enjoy themselves. Rottytops got a little touchy with Shantae, but no one minded as she kept away from her head.
Okay, so this is a smaller one. Next one is going to be one last bonus chapter and then we start Pirate's Curse! See ya then!
