7 years after the defeat of cell Gohan has decied to become a hero and fight for justice as a way to honour his father. to do this he will enroll at UA a well respected hero school, follow him on his jounery to become a great hero!

Chaper 2

First Step

"This is it, time to find out if I have what it takes to be a hero" Gohan thought to himself as he stood before the gate to the most presidus hero academy in the world, UA. While most would say his preparation for the entrance exam was lackluster Gohan decided, once he found out that there would be a practical portion to the exam, to only focus on this technique and not power. Considering he would be up against others who definitely haven't had the kind of life he had, this wouldn't be much of a challenge for him and it would serve as a good baseline for his training over the next few years.

He had to admit so far it definitely lived up to its reputation so far, his entrance form was like 50 pages. They wanted to know everything. They wanted his family history going back two generations and that included their medical history, also a design and explanation of his hero costume and his Quirk. Although Gohan didn't have one exactly but after talking to Bulma about it he came up with a way to make his powers sound like he had a Quirk. Now thanks to all of that paperwork he would get the chance to become a hero

Once he had made his way through the large front entrance he made his way over to the sign in disk for the applicants. "Hello can i have your name please?" the woman behind the desk asked enthusiastically and somewhat surprisingly considering she had probably signed in hundreds of applicants this morning.

"Son Gohan" he responded trying not to be rude "son gohan, one second … a ha there you are. Welcome to the UA entrance exam here is your pass for getting around the school and a timetable of the day's events" she said very enthusiastically whilst handing the things to Gohan. "Now before i let you go i need to check any gear you have brought for the practical exam to ensure no cheating takes place" "oh ok here you go" Gohan replied wondering just how many people would try to cheat to get a spot at UA, his conclusion probably a lot.

He wasn't worried though all he brought besides the clothes he was wearing and some exam supplies was a lime green tracksuit with white stripes down the sides, nothing special. "okay this looks fine if you would like to make your way to orientation now it will be starting in 15 minutes, good luck and remember to go PLUS ULTRA!" Gohan was taken aback with her enthusiasm that he was barely able to get out a thank you before quickly making his way through the halls towards the lecture hall.

The lecture hall had to be one of the biggest rooms Gohan had ever seen in his life, considering it had to seat the thousands of applicants UA got each year. It made some sense but to Gohan it still felt ridiculous. After getting over how big the room was he quickly found his seat over on the right hand side two rows from the front, he the decided to look at the time table whilst he waited;

9:00am - 9:30am Orientation

9:30am - 12:30pm Written exam

12:30pm - 1:00pm Lunch

1:00pm - 1:15pm Time to change before practical exam

1:15pm - 2:15pm Practical exam

"Wow" he thought to himself "it's gonna be quite a packed day but at least we will be done around mid afternoon" he looked down at the rest of the sheet, it went over what to expect in the practical exam. "Oh so there using a points based system depending on how many robots you destroy, hmmm there must be more to than this to get in the number 1 hero school, unless the robots are gonna be really hard to take down" Gohan shivered at the thought giving him a unneeded reminder of the androids he faced all those years ago. However before he could dwell on his thoughts the lights in the room began to dim, signaling orientation was about to begin.

The whole room then went dead silent for a few moments before "WELCOME TO TODAY'S LIVE PROFORMANCE ! EVERBODY SAY HEY!" Gohan nearly jumped out of his seat, he wasn't expecting it to be this loud, hopeful that was just for the opening he prayed wondering how much more his ears could take. Unsurprisingly nobody had the courage, or where just too shocked to respond. After a rather awkward silence the announcer decided to continue "WELL THAT'S COOL, MY EXAMINEE LISTENERS! I'M HERE TO PRESENT THE GIDELINES OF YOUR PRACTICAL! ARE YOU READY!". Gohan rubbed his head, it looks like this is just how it's gonna be, but something he said made him think. "Did he call us listeners, like a radio host?" Then it clicked this was Present Mic the pro hero, Goten liked to listen to his shows but he had no idea he worked at UA.

Once again nobody responded to Present Mic but just like last time he just shrugged it off and kept on rolling "THIS IS HOW THE TEST WILL GO, MY LISTENERS! YOU'LL BE EXSPERIENING SHORT MOCK CITYSCAPE MANEUVERS!. BRING ALONG WHATEVER YOU NEED! THIS AFTERNOON YOU'LL EACH HEAD OUT TO YOUR ASSIGNED TESTING LOCATIONS!". Gohan looked down at his forms noting he would be going to test site A, he looked around wondering who else would be sent there with him.

"EACH SITE IS FILLED WITH THREE KINDS OF FAUX VILLAINS. POINTS ARE AWARDED FOR DEFEATING EACH ACCORDING TO THEIR RESPECTIVE DIFFICULTY LEVELS. USE YOUR QUIRKS TO DISABLE THESE VILLAINS AND EARN POINTS! THAT'S THE GOAL LISTENERS! OF COURSE PLAYING THE ANTIHERO AND ATTACKING OTHER EXAMINES IS PROHIBITED!" Okay then this seemed simple take out as many bots as you can before the time runs out, just like the video games Goten and Trunks like to play, although it still seemed far too simple for the top hero school.

Now it was really starting to bug him, this was the best hero school in the country if not the world and all you had to do to get accepted was smash up some robots, theses where the some really heavy duty robots or something else was going on. "May i ask a question?" interrupting Gohan's train of thought, then without waiting for a reply he continued "There appear to be four types of Faux Villains on this sheet, such a blatant error, if it is one, is highly unbecoming for UA, Japan's top academy! We're all here today in the hopes of being molded into model heroes". At first Gohan thought he was a bit rude but when he looked at the sheet he was right, there were four types listed, maybe this is a secret element to the test but if so why put it on the sheets all the examinees are given? Doesn't make it much of a secret if you tell everyone about if.

Once again he interrupted Gohan's train of thought as he continued "And you with the curly hair! You've been muttering this whole time … it's distracting! If this is some sort of game to you, then please leave immediately" he finished, Gohan could just about hear a faint sorry coming from the back. He felt sorry for the guy, he was probably just over excited there was no need to call him out like that infront of all these people especially before a big test.

Present Mic was quick to respond to this "ALRIGHT ALRIGHT, EXAMINEE 7111, NICE CATCH. THANKS! THAT ONE'S BASICALLY A LARGE OBSTICAL THAT WILL THRASH AROUND AT THE END, IT'S WORTH ZERO POINTS SO THERE'S NO POINT FIGHTING IT JUST STAY OUT OF ITS WAY". a bit of a let down if gohan was honest although what was he expecting, a big final boss, an unwinable battle. No they were just students but still he couldn't escape the feeling there was something they aren't being told, he was tempted to ask but if they aren't being told it must be for a reason.

Examinee 7111 thanked Present Mic for answering his question, gohan still felt like he shouldn't have called the other guy out like he did and hoped he wouldn't have class with him. Now was time for Present Mic closing statement "THAT'S ALL FROM ME! I'LL LEAVE MY LISTENERS WITH SOME WORDS OF WISDOM, AS THE GREAT HERO NEPOLEON ONCE SAID 'TRUE HEROISM CONSISTS IN BEING SUPERIOR TO THE ILLS OF LIFE' BREAK A LEG TODAY AND REMEMBER TO GO BEYOND PLUS ULTRA!" The crowd applauded as Present Mic left the stage, Gohan knew this was it, time to find out if he had what it takes to become a hero.

The written exam was a lot easier than he expected, he had to remember to thank his mother when he got home, the only part he struggled on slightly was where he had to write a short essay about the nature of heroes but other than that it was smooth sailing.

They ate their lunches in the lecturer hall, it seemed like this was meant to be a period for them to relax after the written exam and prep for the practical. Most people were using the time to socialise with others or people from their schools, this was a good idea but the idea of talking to them was making him nervous. Gohan laughed internally because he was home schooled, He never really interacted with people his own age before, He had faced down Frieza and Cell and this made him nervous. He reationalized it by thinking he needed to focus on the test not making friends he could do that later, but really he was just too nervous to go and talk to someone.

Thankfully he wouldn't have to "Hi there my name is Mina Ashido, what's yours?" Gohan was taken aback, he never expected someone to actually come and talk to him, He also wasn't sure if she was even human. Her skin was a light shade of pink, even her hair was pink, she also had two small horns sticking out the top of her head but her most striking feature was her eyes. They were jet black with amber irises, they were enchanting.

"M-my Name's son Gohan, is nice to meet you" he blurted out once he realized he was staring, "thanks, it's nice to meet you too". She smiled and Gohan froze, he had no idea how to talk to her and right now he was more scared than he had been in his life.

"So are you the only one here from your school, i saw you sat by yourself and thought id just come over and say hi" Gohan was a little shocked he expected most to stay with people they knew or just focus on the tests, but then again everyone here wants to be a hero so he probably should have expected some people to try and help others.

"Well actually i was homeschooled so a lot of this is new to me" Gohan chuckled a little as he replied giving the girl a bit of a surprise "wow no way that's so cool, although i'm glad i wasn't homeschooled i can't imagine either of my parents teaching" she said going into a world of her own, she seemed nice maybe she would be in his class that would be nice to have someone this friendly in class with him."well it was nice meeting you" she said bring Gohan back to reality but before he could respond she had already dispaerd into the crowd of was disappointed, his first real encounter witha person his own age and he blew it and whilst it could have gone worse, it also could have gone a lot better.

Soon after Gohan found himself outside of battle site A in his green tracksuit mentaly preparing himself for the upcoming physical exam. The exam itself still perplexed him, he knew there was more going on but he couldn't figure out what, still it just ment he had to be ready for anything.

"AND BEGIN" although Gohan understood what was just said he was just shocked it came so abruptly, he at least thought there would be a countdown."WHAT'S WRONG? THE TEST'S STARTED! RUN! RUN!" With that said Gohan took off into the city with the others following close behind, Gohan jumed up one of the buildings nearby to get some space and scout out the area.

"Okay i can't sense them so i'm just going to have to do this the old fashion way" Gohan said to himself as he suervayed the streets below, just after saying this a large hist collided with his back launching him off the roof. Gohan quickly righted himself in midair looking back to see a large 3-pointer on the roof, "dam these guys are sneaky, let's see how tought they are '' he thought sending a small ki blast at its chest.

The bot took the blast head on and didn't look phased, Ghoan charged whith thw two of their fists coliding into each other."so these guys are preity strong but" Gohan broke the fist lock and grabbed the bots arm with both hands before spinning, ripping the bots are straight of."just as i thought, weaker joint areas to allow for increased mobility however it gives them a massive weakpoint nomater how tought they are" he smiled bring the arm over his head, tping into more of his power he bright it down slamming the bot throught building and onto the street below nutraling it in the process.

"Okay maybe that was a bit too much" he thought as he floated down to the street to observe his own handy work more closely. The robots definitely weren't pushovers and going at the head on whilsts it would work it would be more effective to go afer the bigger robots and fight more stategicaly conserving as much energy as posible. His plan set Gohan turned and made his way down the street.

A few minutes later Ghan had destroyed four more 3-pointers "okay that's 15 points" the said outloud looking for the next bot to smash, however he saw a 3-pointer and a couple of 2-pointers ganging up on someone. He knew it would be smarter to just move on but he was here to be a hero. He had to do something, without thinking he ran towards the boy with red hair and tackled him through a window to avoid an attack.

Once they had gotten up the redhead looked at him quisicaly "why did you do that, i mean it was super manly but i have hardening quirk so i would have been fine" he stated making Gohan feel kind of silly. "Well you were in trouble so i thought i'd lend a hand" he said and then it hit him, the other part of the test was teamwork. Being a hero was more than just beating up bad guys, heroes had to be able to work with anyone even in a competitive environment, they had to be able to put others first and work towards a common good.

"Oh no problem, but I'll be fine" the boy moving towards the window to continue the fight. "Wait why dont we work together on this" gohan said before explaining his plan to the boy."my names Son Gohan by the way" he said after he finished his explanation the boy only nodded in agreement "mine Eijiro Kirishima, let's do this son!".

Outside the robots were waiting for any sign of movement from their quarry, just before they were about to leave something smash threw the wall of the building and went straight throught both the 2-pointers like they were nothing eliminating both of them in seconds. The 3-pointer saw the boy it was fighting before and slmed its fist down on him, however the boy caught the blow with his hardened hands. Before the bot could move another examinee came down from above using their leg to sever its arm before firing a blast into the hole left by it's arm finishing it off.

"Damn we make a good team" Kirishima stated, throwing the bots arm to the side "well i good luck with the rest of the exam" he said before running off giving Gohan no time to respond. Gohan was in his own world, he had to rethink his whole plan since now he knew teamwork was a factor he would try to help as many people as posible and focus less on actually destroying antithing less than a 3-pointer.

Elsewhere in a dark oversvation room the UA faculty observed the whole test with monitors showing events from each battle site."an interesting crop this year" a small mouse like creature said as he observed the monitors. Whilst most of the others had just picked out the ones they thought had exceptional potential he was focused on one in particular, who once he saw his entrance form was exsited to see him profom and he was just as good as he had expected.

"Oh see someone you like Principal Nezu" the pro hero Midnight ask in her usual sultry tone, Nezu simply smiled and tapped a few buttons on the side of his chair bringing up the examinee in question on the main screen. "Him" he responded with all of the faculty watching him now as being noticed by the principal was a rare thing this early.

They watched as he took down a 3-pointer by exploiting its weak joints "he clearly has good mecanical understanding" one said. "And his hand to hand skills are very good, he must be a martial artist" said another but neter of them saw what he could see and that was the boy had figured out the importance of teamwork to the test. "He also seems to have figured out the secret score system for the test so he's quite the problem solver" the principal stated with the other faculty members nodding in agreement.

"But ive singeld him out for another reason" he said, his smile growing as he wathed the teen helping another examinee take out a 2-pointer, with every second that passed there was no denying the identity of the boy."and what reason would that be?" a skeletal man who was sat to the other side of nezu asked.

"Well you could say that herosium is in this boy's blood and becomeing a hero is his destiny. For you see this is the son of the legendary hero Son Goku'' this statement made everyone in the room look at Nezu with shock and surprise, they all knew who Goku was and the potential of his son was astinomuical if he was anything like his father. Now everyone was intestend to see how well Gohan performed and to see if he could become the next Goku.

Gohan made his way trought the torn up streets looking for more people to help, he wasn't sure how much time had passed but he was confident they were approaching the last phase of the exam. He had around 24 points at this point, mostly because he was more focoucsed on helping others then actually taking out robots, he was sure that the points he would get from working with and helping others would be enough to pass the exam.

Suddenly a 1-pointer jumed out at him as he passed a large pile of destroyed bots, he jumped up to avoid the attack the placed both hands on his forhead and fired a "Masenko haaaaa". The blast turned most of the bot to dust, since the 1-ponters weren't that strong, one of Gohans attacks was enough to finish them where as the 2 and 3-pointers required a bit more strategy to take down. Before Gohan could move on thought a fiery blond boy leap infront of him and screamed "DON'T STEAL MY KILL EXTRA, AND STAY OUT OF MY WAY, IF THIS WEREN'T AN EXAM I'D BLOW YOU AWAY!". Without giving Gohan a chance to respond he used his quirk to blast off down the street.

Gohan was stuned, was this guy really trying to be a hero, all of that rage and why did he say kill it's not like the robots were alive. Anotherone he hoped wouldn't be in his class, since the pile of destroyed robots probably belonged to him there was no doubt he had enough points to pass already. So why was he so angry about losing 1 point, it didn't matter right now he had to keep moving.

Back in the observation room Nezu smiled as he prepared to begin the final stage of the exam "such a wide battlefield and limited time brings out the best in them" he began "there are those who can assess the situation in an instant, those who'll never be late to the party, those who can cope with any situation and there are the natural born warriors. The abilities needed to preserve peace in our cities are judged by the points they earn, but this should tell us more, let the final phase of the practical exam begin" he finished pressing the large red button infront of him.

Gohan suddenly felt the ground begin to tremble as he noticed several examinees runing in towards him. No not running towards him but away from the massive zero-pointer right behind them, at this point Gohan expected it to be large but this seemed a bit much as the bot was larger than most of the skyscrapers in the fake city. For a second Gohan thought about fighting it but remembering what present mic said he decided it would be better not to as he had nothing to gain at the moment for doing so.

But before he could turn away he saw a girl chage the bot, he watched as she flew up and landed several blows on the bot to no effect. The giant robot then hit her with a massive backhand sening her crashing back down to earth, it then went to stamp down on her which Gohan wouldn't allow. Without thinking he charged in as fast as he could in his base form and caught the massive foot straining under its immense weight.

the girl below him could only watch as her saviour strained trying to force the foot up and prevent it from crushing her. At points she could have sworn she saw his eyes turn green and his hair a golden blonde but she was sure if that's what she was seeing or if the bot had hit her harder then she thought. Suddenly she felt something rap around her and pull her out from under the bots foot.

"Hhhaaaaaaa" Gohan screemed as he maxed out his base power and forced the oversized foot into the air, he then felt something rap around his waist and pull him out from under its foot to safety. Gohan looked up to see a frog looking girl was the one who had saved them, but then he reaslized that that was her tongue wrapped arouund is waist and his face went a deep crimson.

"Are you two okay ribbit" she asked both of them nodded to let her know they were fine. She then released her tongue from Gohan and asked "what do you think we should do ribbit, should we run or try and stop the zero pointer". Gohan understood what she meant although it wasn't worth any points the potential damage it could cause was immense, in fact it would probably level the city.

However Gohan wasn't going to let anyone else get hurt by this thing, he turned to the two girls "you two get out of here, i'll hold it of untill the end of the exam" he stated with confidence. The frog girl gave a nod of understanding, the other girl wanted to say something but when she saw the determination in his eyes she decided trying to talk him out of it would never work and she left with the frog girl.

Gohan now stood alone, defiant, this would be his stand, he was sure he could keep it distracted long enough for the exam to end and minimise the damage caused by this thing. He readyed himself for the fight taking up a fighting stance and waiting for the bots first move, which would never come as just as both he and the bot got ready to fight a large horn sounded signaling the end of the exam. Gohan sighed and stood up "well that was a bit antcilmactic" he said allowed as he watched the zero-pointer power down. He then began to make his way out of the city, that was it all the tests were done now all he could do was wait.

Later that day

Nezu sat in his office thinking over the day's events, they had had plenty of truly exceptional examinees filled with potential inculuding the son of Goku. training him to be a great hero would be one of his finest accomplishments as principle of this academy, not to mention how much his presence will motivate his other classmates to push themselves even harder.

Then just as he anticipated there was a knock at his door "come in'' he said as the person he had been waiting for entered, the man who entered the room looked like a skeleton and most other people would have no idea who this was. However Nezu knew that the skeletal man standing infront of him was in fact the symbol of peace, All Might.

"You wanted to see me sir?" the number one hero asked as he sat down in front of the principal's desk unsure of why he wanted to talk but he had an idea, his quirk. Unlike most others his quirk could be passed down to another of his choosing, each time it was passed on the power contained within grew like a fire expanding ang growing stronger. This ability made it so there would always be someone to face down an old evil always lurking in the shahadows out of sight.

Nezu was quick to respond "Yes, i wanted to talk about who i think you should pass your quirk onto but it seems like you've already done it have'nt you?" he asked but before All Might could respond he continued "Izku Midoriya why did you choose him?" he asked, staring the symbol of peace down. All Might squrmed in his seat he didn't expect to be found out so soon but this was principal Nezu.

He coughed into his hand before answering "well he's a good kid, he has a strong heart and he believes 100% in the fact that the world needs a symbol. But if I'm honest he reminded me of myself, born quirkless but still trys to save people to make the world a better place not for himself but only for others, he is selfless to a fault. I think he has it in him to surpass me one day". Nezu only smiled and nodded "Well now that i've heard you say it I can put my mind at ease, if you've chosen him I won't interfere".

All might relaxed a bit, he half expected to get chewed out for making a rash decision, but he was curious who did Nezu have in mind to be his successor. "Um so who were you going to tell me about?" he asked trying not to give away his own curiosity, "well i had two prospects in mind, the year two student Miro Togata and the son of Goku Son Gohan'' All Might had'nt heard much about Miro but what he had heared was that he was doing a workstudy with his old sidekick Sir Nighteye and that his quirk made him untouchable. Then there was Son Gohan, from what he saw today he definitely had the potential to live up to and even surpass his father.

Both would have been good choices to receive his quirk, one for all, it was too late for that now and it is'nt good to dwell on what could have been. Nezu spoke up again "well let's hope you've made the right choice, you can go now" he said before spinning around in his chair to look out his window. As All Might left he wondered what trials awaited these new heroes in training and if they would be ready for them.

A week later

Gohan sat in the lounge of his house watching the news on tv, it had been a week since the UA entrance exam and he had heard nothing back from UA. At first he just assumed it was because he lived out in the middle of nowhere but then he remembered Bulma talking about a partnership with UA so surly that can't be it since thay can get anything anywhere in no time at all. He then thought he'd gotten it wrong about the teamwork aspect and failed the exam but then they would just tell him that.

No it must be because of the amount of applicants, he hoped that was the reason for the delay, that there were jst so many of them it took a week to work out everyones scores. There wasnt much he could do but wait and hope he was right, just as he was about to go back to his room his little brother ran in with a letter in his hand.

"Look, look, Gohan, it's from UA" he said before handing the letter over to Gohan who sighed with relief finally he'd get to know his fate. Looking at his brother and smiling he opened the letter only for a small capsule to fall out, Gohan picked it up and clicked the top and out popped a holoprogector and it began to play a recorded message.

"I AM HERE, AS A PROGECTION" both boys jumped back at the sudden appearance af All Might with both of them too shocked to say anything "IT'S BEEN A WHILE. THERE'S BEEN MUCH TO DELIBERATE ON. AS FOR WHY I AM HERE YOU ARE NOW LOOKING AT UA'S NEWEST FACULTY MEMBER" this was a huge shock Gohan was going to be tought by the number one hero.

"YOU SCORED 25 VILLAN POINTS BUT I THINK THAT'S BECAUSE YOU WORKED OUT THAT TEAMWORK AND HELPING OTHER'S WAS ALSO AN IMPORTANT PART OF THIS EXAM, THAT'S WHY WE HAVE RESCUE POINTS WHICH ARE AWARDED FOR SUCH ACTIONS OF WHICH YOU GOT 50. THIS BRINGS YOUR SCORE UP TO 75 POINTS PUTING YOU AT SECOND PLACE OUT OF ALL THE EXAMINEES" this filled Gohan with pride that he was able to figure out the secret part of the exam and even place second overall.

"I'D LIKE TO SAY CONGRATULATIONS AND WELCOME YOU TO YOUR HERO ACADEMY, THESE ARE YOUR FIRST STEPS TO BECOMING A HERO"
