Gamelover41592: If you liked that, you're gonna like this one even more!
Matt (Guest): I am going to guess you are talking about Kitty and Izzy and as for that...it goes into spoiler territory.
Just as a heads up, this chapter is almost pure wish fulfillment. Although if you happen to know what I ship and like it as well, you probably will like this as well.
Bolo was pretty sure he was about to die.
Not literally, mind you. Although if he did drop dead right now, it might not be so bad. Why? Well, for starters, he was about to ask the girl he had the biggest crush on out to a romantic dance. Just seeing the nearby posters drove Bolo further and further towards a nervous breakdown. It was the Scuttle Town Dance Under The Stars. While it wasn't purely romantic, it was known for being the sight of a lot of first dates, first kisses and proposals in the past. And he was about to ask the girl of his dreams to it.
So yeah, death was looking pretty good right now.
Bolo slapped himself to regain what remained of his nerves as he reached Shantae and Jasmine's lighthouse. "You can do this Bolo!" He thought to himself. "You're only asking the girl you've liked for who knows how long to a dance where a lot of romantic stuff happens. Wow, this is not helping!" He took a deep breath and knocked on the door. Thankfully for him, Shantae answered. Behind her, Bolo could spot Jasmine taking a nap in lion form.
"Bolo! What brings you here?" Shantae asked.
"Now or never!" Bolo thought to himself. "So, uh...Shantae, I was wondering if you wanted to come to the dance with me tonight?" Shantae felt her heart skip a beat. She had actually been planning to ask Bolo herself, but this saved her the trouble. Of course, she felt herself growing more nervous by the nanosecond, so she replied with the first thing that came out of her mouth.
"Sure thing! Sounds fun!"
"Uh, great! I'll pick you up later," Bolo said. With that, he walked off. He made sure he was out of earshot before he started cheering.
"Nope! I can't do this!" Shantae said as she hugged her legs into her chest as he sat against the door to the lighthouse. As soon as Bolo had left, she realized that she had basically accepted a date with a guy she had a huge crush on. To a fancy dance party no less. Thankfully, Jasmine had quickly realized what was going on and rushed out to grab Sky and Rottytops for "moral support".
"Of course you can!" Sky assured her. "You're the bravest person I know and you're afraid of dealing with a little date?"
"It's different then that!" Shantae protested. "I have liked him for ages and if anything goes wrong, our friendship is going to get all weird!"
"Well if he starts anything, we'll beat him up for you!" Rottytops jokingly promised. Thankfully, Shantae seemed to catch the meaning behind the comment and gave a laugh. Jasmine knelt down next to Shante, resting her hand on her shoulder.
"Shantae look. You said it yourself. You have liked Bolo for a very long time. And he may be an idiot half the time, but he cares about you. He's going to try and make tonight as magical as possible for you. I can promise you that," Jasmine said. Shantae smiled.
"Thanks guys. You're the best," Shantae said as she stood up. Suddenly, Jasmine locked the door.
"Of course, being your friends, that also means we are the ones who have to help you get ready," Sky said, grinning mischievously. Shantae swallowed hard. This was going to be painful.
The next few hours simultaneously took forever and went by in a blur. Jasmine was guarding the door almost the whole time so even if Shantae tried, she couldn't escape. First, Shantae found herself forced into a bath. Following that, she was forced into a chair. Rottytops then held her down while Sky worked on her hair. Then, she was given a dress to change into, before getting forced back into the chair in order to have some makeup put on her. Finally, Jasmine placed a necklace around her neck.
"You look great!" Jasmine assured her sister, who was looking over herself in the mirror.
"Bolo is gonna be blown away," Rottytops said with an earnest smile on her face.
"You really think so?" Shantae asked.
"For once, I agree with her," Sky said. Wrench then flew in and squawked. "Oh! Wrench says Bolo is here!"
"Okay, here I go!" Shantae said as she walked out.
"...We are totally spying on them right?" Rottytops asked.
"Oh yeah," Jasmine said.
Bolo fidgeted nervously. He had made an effort to look nicer then normal. He was still wearing his headband yes, but he was dressed in a suit and had made an effort to brush his hair back a little. He then heard the sound of a door opening. He straightened out, in hopes of seeming confident. Then he laid eyes on Shantae.
And his jaw dropped.
There was no better way to put it. She was beautiful. Shantae was wearing a strapless red dress, her hair was loose, but it was clear it was styled, her normal tiara had been switched out for a much fancier one and she had a necklace clasped around her neck.
"...Wow…." Bolo said once he was able to get words to come out. "Uh, I mean….you look amazing,"
"Thanks…" Shantae practically squeaked out. Bolo just found that even cuter. "So...ready?"
"If you are," Bolo said as he held out his arm. Shantae took it and they were off.
By the time the two arrived, the dance was in full swing. While they did get a few stares. It was nothing that couldn't be ignored. Once they got into the swing of things, Bolo and Shantae both found themselves wondering what they were so scared about. Everything was going exactly how they wanted. They danced(Shantae found herself more then a little shocked that Bolo not only knew how to slow dance, but knew enough that he was able to lead), enjoyed some of the food set up and just had a good time. After a while, they managed to slip away to a more quiet part of town. A small rooftop on a nearby building. It was just so they could catch their breath, but Bolo also knew it was now or never.
"There are a lot of stars out tonight," Shantae said, trying to make small talk.
"Oh yeah," Bolo said. "Really pretty too," Of course, he knew nothing was as pretty as the girl seated next to him.
"Jasmine and I used to love looking at the stars at night," Shantae admitted. "We used to try to make our own constellations."
"Bet that was fun," Bolo replied. An awkward silence fell over them. Finally, Bolo sighed. "Listen Shantae, there was something I wanted to ask you."
"What?" Shantae asked. She felt her heartbeat speed up.
"Uh...would you like to do something like this again? Like, not do "this" this every time, but you would like to go out again?" Bolo asked.
"So...are you asking me to be your girlfriend?" Shantae summarized.
"...Yeah. I am," Bolo said. Shantae didn't even have to think about the answer.
"Yes, I would love to," Shantae said softly. Both of them started blushing as they looked away. But before long, they turned back. They locked eyes and locked lips shortly afterwards. Bolo found himself running his hands through Shantae's silky hair while Shantae wrapped her arms around Bolo, enjoying his surprising amount of muscle. There was only one thought running through both of their minds.
"This is the best night ever,"
Meanwhile, from a nearby building, Jasmine lowered her binoculars and smiled. It was always good to see Shantae in a good mood. Especially after she lost her magic.
NOT SORRY! I was more then a little bummed at the short end of the stick Bolo got in Pirate's Curse so I decided to slot this in here, just so he's got something to look forward too. Speaking of Pirate's Curse, guess what's getting started next time?
