So like I said last time, I wanted to do one quick bonus chapter before we begin the next game. As for what it's about...recall how Jasmine mentions going to the library often because she feels like she doesn't belong. Someone is about to find out. Also, just as a reminder, another year has passed, putting Jasmine at 17.
Jasmine let out a sigh of relief. No one was here. Shantae had been busier then ever before retraining herself with her magic. She had been getting more and more pushy about knowing just what Jasmine got up too at the library. Jasmine really didn't want her knowing. But she didn't know how long she could keep it hidden.
"Got ya!"
Okay, she couldn't keep it hidden any longer. Jasmine forced herself to face her sister. "Shantae, I see you've finally managed to catch me,"
"You only go when you know everyone else is busy," Shantae pointed out with a smile. "It wasn't that hard to trick you,"
"Point taken,"
Realizing that she now had no choice but to show her sister what she had been studying, Jasmine reluctantly allowed her sister to see what she had been reading. The look of pure heartbreak on Shantae's face when she realized what her big sister had been trying to learn about utterly crushed Jasmine.
"Jas….what is this?" Shantae asked, sounding somewhat betrayed.
"Shantae...look, no one here looks like me," Jasmine began, trying to make this sound as harmless as possible. "I just want to find out where I'm from,"
"So...you don't like me or the others?" Shantae asked.
"No!" Jasmine quickly exclaimed. "No! Not a chance, you are the best thing that ever happened to me. You, Mimic, Bolo, Sky, even Rottytops are all great! But...I just want closure on where I'm from. Mimic found me in a random temple,"
"I...guess that makes sense," Shantae said, how much calmer knowing that her sister still cared about her. "But if you find this place, are you gonna go back?"
"Maybe for a visit, but I think my heart is here," Jasmine admitted with a smile. Shantae smiled back as she dove at her sister, pulling her into a hug.
"If it makes you feel any better, most of us are pretty big oddballs anyways," Shantae pointed out. "I'm a half genie...and for a while I was a human with pointy ears!" Jasmine burst into laughter.
"And Rotty's a zombie!" Jasmine added in with a laugh.
"So, yeah, you don't really fit in with most people…" Shantae began. "But I think you fit in with our group of oddballs pretty good,"
"Thanks sis," Jasmine said as they went in for another hug. "For everything."
"I could say the same for you," Shantae replied.
So Shantae finds out about what Jasmine is up to and they confirm that they are still sisters above all else. Also that they are weird and it doesn't matter because they save the town every other week so their opinions don't matter. Anyways, next time, we begin Half-Genie Hero!
