Ch.4
El POV
Max answered the door, looking extremely nervous. "El? What are you doing here?" Max whispered nervously.
"I wanted to see how you were doing," El replied, confused at her best friend's apprehension at seeing her. "Is everything okay?" El asked Max.
"No," Max replied. "Everything is most definitely NOT okay." "Can we go to your house?" Max asked El.
"Sure. Why?" El replied. "Not here." Max hissed at El. El got on her bike, thoroughly mystified at her best friend's behavior.
20 minutes later, Hopper's Cabin,
El POV
"So let me get this straight. You think Billy has been killing animals, and now, if Lucas doesn't stay away from you, you think Billy will do the same to him?" El asked Max.
"I don't think he is. I know he is." Max replied. "He comes in at 4 AM, leaves for lifeguard duty in the afternoon, comes home, does drugs, leaves, and then comes home at 4 am again. I tried to follow him once, about two weeks ago, but then he just disappeared. Then on my way home, he just pulled up in his car, stopped not 10 feet in front of me, pulled out a knife, got out of the car, grabbed a squirrel, tortured it to death, BIT INTO IT, RIPPED THE HEAD OFF WITH HIS TEETH, and all while looking RIGHT AT ME, where I had jumped into the bushes to hide from him once I heard his car. He then finished his knife torture, and ritual oral disembowelment, got into his car, still looking at me, made a 'shhhhh!' symbol on his lips, and drove off. I made it home around 10 mins before he got home. I heard him walk to the bathroom, and peeked out of my room. He was COVERED in blood. WAAAAAAAYYYY more than could have come from the one squirrel. El, I think he might be ready to start on people." Max finished, trembling and shaking.
"We need to go to Hopper," El said, seeing Max shaking her head before she finished.
"I think that shhh symbol was a warning. Him saying that if I tattle I'm next." Max said.
"My uncle Murray could hide you," El replied. "Maybe, but we would need to invent a suitable excuse to at least get part of the way to his house before Billy got suspicious," Max said. "Also, you know Hopper would just go straight after Billy, which would either get me or Lucas hurt or killed," Max added. "That is not a risk I can take. I think I'll break it off with Lucas today. He'll be so mad, he won't even ask why, if I'm mean enough. He'll also not come near me for weeks, which should keep him safe."
El interjected, "That's a terrible thing to do to him!" "Don't let Billy win by giving in, Max!" And round and round, back and forth they went, until it was time for El to go to the Byers house for her appointment.

NEW PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT/AN: THE WEED THAT EL SMOKES IS 80'S WEED. THAT HAD WAY LESS THC, SO WHILE IT WAS STILL BAD FOR YOU, IT WAS SIGNIFICANTLY LESS SO. NOW WEED WILL MESS YOU THE HELL UP. DONT DO IT. Also, I can hear you saying, "But if it was still bad for you, and El claims to get extremely high every day, how is she not getting messed up?" The answer is that she smokes in public, never in private. She only does it to provoke Hopper. When she doesn't want to do that, she doesn't get high. She was EXTREMELY exaggerating her drug usage there to make Mike look bad. Also, some characters, (not main ones) will use some harder drugs. Honestly, that will probably only be ecstasy. THAT IS A DEADLY AND EXTREMELY ILLEGAL DRUG. EL ONLY PRODUCES IT BECAUSE SHE IS BEING THREATENED WITH SERIOUS PHYSICAL HARM. THE CHEMICAL PROCESSES THAT PRODUCE THIS DRUG ARE JUST AS OR MORE DANGEROUS AS THE USAGE OF THIS DRUG. IT IS FOR SURE MORE ILLEGAL THAN THE USAGE OF IT. LIKE, DEA BLACK-OPS UNITS WITH MACHINE GUNS KICKING DOWN YOUR DOOR IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT ILLEGAL. Simply put, don't use or produce any illegal drugs, and I KNOW you know not to, but just DON'T, okay? Ok, I'll step off my soapbox now. That was mainly for legal reasons.
